Hotel berhampiran St Annes, Strathpeffer, Strathpeffer

Wife & I found our way to the castle and stayed in the luxury suite. (Note: this is at the top of many stairs, no elevator) The room was lovely and enjoyed the balcony during the evening/night & morning. There were quite a few people staying at the castle when we went. Breakfast was very good. Bed was comfortable. The surrounding countryside was very pretty and had a few giant windmills on the far hills. There was an older gentleman who used to be the groundskeeper who told us about the Green Lady and that story which we had not known.... hahah. Did not see the ghost in our stay. The room was very romantic.

The Bunchrew House was one of the best properties we stayed at during this trip. A classic B&B, sort of an upscale Fawlty Towers with an exceptional staff.  Very nice location, nestled in a wooded area beside the Moray Firth, lovely restaurant with a top-notch menu and views of the firth, amazing breakfast menu and offerings that were excellent. Very pleasant sitting room in the common areas for an after dinner drink and socializing. Our room was a little tired and really in need of some updating, the bathroom was somewhat fatigued. All in all, we recommend the Bunchrew House Hotel, due to its location, beauty, and staff, which really make it a perfect getaway.

We booked direct and stayed for two nights with breakfast at this hotel. On arrival we received a friendly reception and were shown to our room, which had views over the garden and water. The room was comfortable, although the desk/dressing table was a little cramped. The bed provided a good night's sleep and the shower room etc. was very well appointed. The room TV reception appeared to be limited to 2/3 channels and the washbasin plug allowed water to escape, and both items were reported. Breakfast was the usual buffet with served cooked items, and provided a good choice The hotel has no dedicated parking, but there is free on street parking in front of the hotel and a public car park a few yards away. Payment for upkeep of this car park is voluntary. Infrequent buses to Inverness leave from a bus stop outside the hotel. We felt that in value terms the costs were a little expensive, but our stay was comfortable in a convenient quiet location.

Very nice hotel, well situated and adequate for our needs, not much can be found at fault with this place staff were pleasant and attended to our request when asked. I would definitely stay here again.

We visited inverness for a short time and we honestly couldn’t of had an easier accommodation experience, the staff are very friendly and attentive to your every need, when we first arrived they upgraded our room for free and let us check in early further more when we wanted breakfast in the morning it only cost us £10 a head and they offer a wide range of breakfast options, when we checked out they also let us keep our bags at the house whilst we spent our last few hours exploring the city. Highly recommend, priced well too.

First let me say that the owners were incredibly kind and accommodating. It pains me that to even write this but I thought fellow travelers should hear my experience. First, there are two aye stays in Inverness. My gps took me to the wrong one first. That was awkward. After I finally figured it out, the place was very cutely decorated with Scottish and Loch Ness decor. Contactless check in was easy however a board with everyone’s name and room numbers does not feel super safe for me a solo female traveler. But over all easy enough. Next I stayed in room 7 which is up a flight of stairs so make sure you pack light! (Which you should do anyway in Scotland.) My room had just been renovated with new carpet but it smelled like off gassing and I had to open the window (which was broken) there was a radiator for heat which I had no idea how to use. So it got a little chilly. Now here comes the problems: the rooms are very close together and the walls are paper thin. I was kept up until 3 in the morning hearing conversations and snoring. We were only given the choice of receiving breakfast between 7:30-8:30 in the dining room. So I woke up earlier than I would have liked to eat breakfast. Which was just okay. Nothing too outstanding to write about but again the hostess was very sweet. Overall I could see that they’re trying their best. But I would recommend sound machines in each of the rooms or something so people can have a good nights sleep. The location was pretty good and just over the bridge from the high street.

Very comfortable linens, absolutely immaculately clean. We had breakfast at the attached restaurant, which was delicious. One of our party was unwell, and the staff was so kind to pack their breakfast in a take away tray for us. The lone complaint is that the parking lot is rather small to cater for both the accommodation and the restaurant, but once the eating patrons have left, then there seems to be enough room for everybody. Another suggestion I would make is to list the WiFi password on the key cards, or on the envelope, so it’s easy to find.
