Very elegant hotel located on the beach. Beautiful views of the beach and sea. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Most spoke English, but some of the waitstaff didn't. Has spa within the hotel property that offers a variety of services. Breakfast offered a wide range of choices. Rooms were clean and quiet. Air conditioning and wireless worked great! The biggest downside is its distance from the town center. A good 30 minute walk down the boardwalk. But a lovely hotel with fabulous views of the channel.

Nice hotel in a good location on the seafront in St Malo. We had a room with a little balcony with a side view of the sea. It is within walking distance of the walled town with lots of restaurants. The room itself was clean and comfortable and just what we needed for a one night stop over. Not a fan of bathrooms being separate from toilets but that’s personal preference and I don’t like the thick carpet again personal preference because it doesn’t feel hygienic. The pool was a nice surprise and it was clean and all the jets worked well. Overall pleasant stay.

What a beautiful location to spend a vacation. Located directly on the beach. Staff is lovely and most helpful. We loved the sea**** bread in the morning we also enjoyed the nearby restaurants and walking to St Malo. It was very convenient for us to drive to three different golf courses and to visit Cancale , Dinard and Dinnan . We were pleased with the comfortable beds. A very relaxing vacation. This was are second Time staying there and we will return next year.

Résidence très bien entretenue, fleurie et très bien située. Parking extérieur au sein de la résidence payant mais sécurisé. Personnel très accueillant Salle de jeux avec billard, Puissance 4 grant ,table de ping pong, divers jeux de société proposés à la réception. Studio n°313, 3 ème étage,4 personnes avec balcon, canapé lit et lits superposés, baignoire , petit lave vaisselle, cuisine bien équipée. Canapé lit peu confortable, 2 nuits nous ont suffit! On a apprécié d'avoir les serviettes de toilette et draps fournis. Piscine petite mais elle a le mérite d'exister en centre ville. Je crois que la ville de St Malo est dotée d'un centre aqualudique.

Superb sea view room booked at a good rate through Brittany Ferries in a ferry and hotel package. Amazing listening to the sound of the waves as I went to sleep. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a wonderful bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate rain shower. The room was so luxurious and the view so good we didn’t want to leave and didn’t manage to try out the pool and spa area downstairs. The hotel is situated right next to the old town with a good choice of restaurants in close proximity. We had continental breakfast in the room and it was ok

Went there for Xmas and found out there was no cooker or even an oven in the property so had to find a restaurant at the last minute for our Xmas day lunch as a family of 6. The property was advertised as sleeping 6 to 8 and there was a 3-seater sofa only so really below-standard comfort. The kitchenware was minimalist and therefore we were unable to cook for 6 so had to resort to eating out and buying ready to eat food. No towel included unless you paid extra, no welcome pack (dishwasher liquid, dish cloth, tea towel etc) which in this day and age is absolutely basic and normal anywhere else I’ve stayed. This place needs to move on with modern times! Aldo had to make our own beds on arrival. All felt like a holiday in a kids summer camp with basic amenities. The surroundings were not lit at night and we had to walk around to avoid crossing the water logged muddy lawn around the house. Needless to say there was no door mat to wipe our feet, again this is basic! No wardrobes in the bedrooms either, just one on the landing. This property lacks too many of the basic normal modern comforts.

L’esprit manoir que nous recherchions est bien présent, quelques portes qui grincent, des parquets qui craquent, une décoration d’époque que nous avons bien apprécié. La literie de notre suite était excellente et la propreté irréprochable. Le buffet du petit déjeuner est également agréable et varié. L’accueil et le service sont discrets, et les conseils de restaurant des environs ont été les bienvenus. Le manoir et ses extérieurs sont authentiques et bien entretenus. Petit plus, notre petit chien a également été bien accueilli !

I'm giving three stars, since I can imagine worse experiences, but three stars really feels generous. I booked Le Grand Be based on location, ability to get a parking spot, AC/elevator, and reviews. We arrived having not received any information on where or how to park. Saint Malo is a walled city with lots of tourists. Nowhere to pull over to figure things out. We got to the hotel and had NO idea where to put the car, nor was there anywhere obvious to unload. I had to drive around the block (takes way longer than you would think), drop off my son and get him to ask for help. A very nice front desk staffer came out to help with bags and told us where to park. I had reserved outdoor parking because they told me that would be easier to park in than indoor. I did not see the indoor, but let me tell you I hope they were wrong. You try backing into a spot surrounded by pedestrians, with parked cars immediately across from your spot, on a narrow street. It was harrowing. You also had to be very precise due to the metal blockers on the ground. Once inside, a different staffer checked me in. She said she needed my card for a (LARGE, more than my total stay) deposit, and I handed it over. Immediately, it became clear something was wrong. She did not attempt to explain, but called someone else over who was equally confused. It was clear to me that they had actually charged my card instead of using it for a deposit. When I asked, she confirmed that's what happened. They could not figure out how to refund it, and I ended up waiting about 20 minutes (already missing a lunch reservation) until someone came back who could refund it. They handed me a credit slip but my card was charged. The charge hit my bank immediately, of course, but the refund did not. That night, we realized our door didn't latch. Like to the point that it probably wasn't closing properly even when housekeeping left. Even knowing this was the issue, it took 7 or 8 slams to get it to latch. Slamming too hard would just make it bounce. Obviously, this was unsafe for my belongings when I wasn't there and unsafe for us personally at night. I called the front desk that night and someone came up who slammed it closed and said that's all you have to do, and left. From the inside, I couldn't even tell if it was truly closed, because from the outside, all you had to do was push it open. The next day, before we left with the car, I asked if I should park in the same spot, if I needed any kind of tag on the car, etc. They were confused about why I even asked. We came back hours later, and sure enough someone was in my spot, so I had to park in another spot. I reported this to them, and again they were confused and expected me to wait around. I finally told them we were going out to dinner (without the car) and would be unavailable to move it. This is now the second to third time, depending on how you count, that they expected me to sit around accommodating their is

There are lots of lovely restaurants within walking distance and the view is amazing if you get one with an ocean view. Overall an excellent option if staying in St. Malo.

VvagabondafeliceHad a great stay in this hotel. Not too far from the old town, we had a great walk there and back along the seafront, it took about 25 minutes each way. We arrived early afternoon during the week and found a car park space outside but the hotel does have private parking at a daily rate. I imagine during season time it would be difficult to find a free parking space. Our room was very clean and spacious, as was the bathroom. We were on the ground floor and had an outside patio with table and chairs. The hotel also had a cosy bar with armchairs and a fireplace. Downstairs they had the breakfast room and the breakfast was delicious with a wide assortment of local products. To follow COVID rules we were asked to choose a time so as not to make the room too crowded. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We would definitely return there if we go back to Brittany. Thank you for a lovely stay.

To my surprise I was upgraded to one of the new rooms (005) at the back of the hotel. Whilst no view of the sea the room was large with a sitting area, a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom - unusually in the day and age had a bath rather than walk in shower. Staff were really welcoming, helpful and friendly. Found a parking space immediately outside of hotel. Was able to use UK Parking app (Paybyphone) which was just as well as could not make head nor tail of the parking meter! 4€ for 24 hours. 10 minutes walk along front to entrance into town. Have found my new stopover hotel when taking ferry back to Jersey!

We arrived late at night and found the hotel easily accessible on foot from the ferry. About a 10 minute walk. Check-in was simple and we were soon in our 3rd floor (top floor) room. No kettle or water in the bedroom however in reception, you could make your own drinks to take up to your room. Water was also available. Small bar area in reception. Decent, powerful shower with shower gel provided. Room was laid out well, with a view of the walled city across the docks in the distance. No aircon in bedroom so needed to have window open so road noise did impact at times. Did notice a small fan in the room but we didn’t need it. Breakfast was plentiful & usual continental fayre which we enjoyed. Although on this occasion we were on foot, we did have a look around the garage/underground parking area for research purposes for a future visit. Only comment we would make, is that the entrance/exit did not have much signage to stop parking directly infront of the doorway so would suggest that the hotel (if possible) put a ‘no parking’ grid on the ground to deter people from blocking the doorway. Ideal hotel for a visit to St Malo or overnight stop to/from the ferry.

2252chriskHaving read many reviews on this hotel prior to my arrival which generally speaking suggest the hotel looks tired, but otherwise okay, my expectations were fairly low. Firstly, it has to be said that you really can’t get ANY more central a location within the city ramparts, the location is superb - a 5 minute walk to the marina, two minute walk to the beach - if location is high on your priorities then it’s worth paying the premium alone just for this, in my opinion (this hotel is not cheap.) I booked two Superior Sea-view rooms which had a spectacular view of ‘La Manche’ and the St Malo bay. One room was ‘newer’ than the other. My own room I would say has not been renovated since the 80s and frankly it shows, the decor was garish but otherwise very comfortable and most importantly, clean. The other room was decorated to more modern standards but can attest to other people’s reviews in saying the carpets were worn and the furniture chipped and tired. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. My experience when speaking to French people is they seem to highly value your speaking in their native language, if only for a few sentences. It’s almost a courtesy which after they have witnessed you struggling for thirty seconds or so are more than happy to speak to you in English - it just seems to be the way, give it a try and embrace it. The bar staff were friendly, albeit not overly attentive (it was Bastille weekend to be fair so could have been busier than usual) , however the food in the restaurant was excellent. I have seen reviews of people bemoaning the breakfast - for me it was fine, nothing spectacular but is in line with any other Continental breakfast offering I’ve had at any other hotel, but for someone who is used to just eating cereal back at home, anything extra was a bonus. All in all, I would recommend this hotel if only for the location - it is pricey but location, location, location is key, and the hotel appear to know that, although my experience generally was very positive and I would stay again if in St Malo.

PPengguna TetamuIf you're looking for a cheap but comfortable overnight stay on the way to somewhere else, this place is excellent. The room was a little small and quite basic, but it had a decent shower. The breakfast was good, with enough options to suit everyone. The staff were all friendly and spoke good English. This hotel has good parking and is situated at the side of a small retail park, which is why I made the comment about it being suitable to stay on the way somewhere. It's not somewhere you'd stay if you wanted to be near the beach and the old town.

The mattress is terrible. Kind of like sleeping on the floor, but with springs and a bar in the middle. The bathroom had a tub, but different colors of mold growing in the caulk and joints. Decent sized room for France, but layout could be better ( and without the bunk bed). But really the mattress is terrible ( this is after asking if another room had a nicer bed and being told that pillow tops were only in 3 star hotels). Spend an extra $10 to get a nicer place and not toss and turn awake for hours.
