Hotel 3 Bintang di Te Anau

Fantastic staff and decent accommodation. Rooms and buffet breakfast were as you’d expect, nothing amazing but still good. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Our hotel manager even offered to drive myself and a friend to the start of the Kepler track so that we could fill our afternoon with a hike. Fast forward 6.5 hours and he also came and picked us up, saving us about 10-15km worth of extra walking along the roadside.

We stayed at Aden Motel just one night after returning from Milford Sound. The apartment was extremely spacious, comfortable and had well appointed amenities. The beds were comfy and my favourite part of the room was the heater that was facing the shower area, when we were in Te Anau it was around 9-10 degrees Celsius so we were freezing and because we had the heater while showering I felt so warm and at home. In the morning we were greeted by resident dog Molly and her friend Rocky who were so friendly my daughter can’t stop gushing about them. Will definitely recommend!

We stayed here as a base when visiting Milford Sound. Our room was a twin studio and was excellent. There was loads of space and was furnished to a great standard. The shower was powerful and the whole unit was exceptionally clean. You can park right outside your unit and it's a couple of minutes walk to the lake shore or into the town centre for the restaurants and supermarkets. It was very good value and we booked direct to get a 10% discount. Highly recommend.

A nice apartment with a lovely view of the Lake with generally good amenities. About 10 minutes walk into town. But there were no small tables for drinks and no heater or heated towel rails in the bathroom. The only heater for the entire apartment was in the kitchen/sitting are. We enoyed our 2 night stay, though it was the most expensive motel in our three months travels in NZ

We stayed in room 1 and found it to be modernised and clean, a short walk to everything in the town. Two of us but it can sleep 4 if you don’t mind those in the lounge accessing the bathroom via the main bedroom. No stovetop but had an electric hot plate. No staff on-site due to general service labour shortages but that didn’t impact us and they were very responsive when we messaged. Overall we had a comfortable stay.

Why does this motel have such a poor rating? Village theme is a bit dated as was our room but the ladies at reception super helpful and the room was huge and clean. Stayed two nights both very quiet even though we had a group of young people next door. Laundry facilities were very useful. Dinner at Chinese restaurant was delicious. (I would change the restaurant name to reflect the cuisine.) Good value for the price we paid. We would definitely stay again.

The BEST accomodation and staff members we have ever encountered! We had booked the classic double cabin and when we arrived we were super happy with the cleanliness and many amenities this room had for the price. However, we were walking past reception and Mike stopped us and upgraded us to the apartment for free!!!! Being students, we hadn't experienced such luxury in a very long time. We had everything we needed and more - the bathroom floors were bloody heated?!? Despite it being the start of winter, the room was incredibly cosy and a great base for our adventures throughout the area. 10000% would recommend. Mike you and your family are awesome. A functional, practical place to stay to break up the journey to Milford Sounds. Staff nice and rooms good and reflective of the photos posted. Rooms no problems at all but the general areas (stairs and corridors) dated and smell damp. If you are looking for luxury or somewhere special not a place for you, if you are looking for practical and a nights stay with parking it’s perfect.

Here are the few reasons why I strongly suggested you find another option. It feels like it was a old motel being renovated. The indoor living room was very cold in april and furniture quit outdated. The bathroom is extremely small, can barley move and extremely cold, no heating. The windows? I had a small one with natural light and a bigger one facing the indoor living room so no natural light at all. The walls are paper thin, i heard everything that was going on in the bedroom next time. As for their “rules kitchen “ be aware to read them if u go there. My bad: i did not. The kitchen can only be used by guests from 11am til 8pm. That’s it. I wasn’t aware tho that when it’s breakfast time which is 7am til 8h30am, even if the kitchen is open, you are NOT allowed to make yourself something you would like to eat either eggs or anything. You eat whatever is there which isn’t much: canned fruits, i didn’t see anything fresh, bread, a muffin cake style and cereal and yogurt. I learned it the hard way by misunderstanding this aspect of breakfast and not computerizing in my brain that breakfast ends at 8h30 and i showed up at 8h10-15 and asking to the old lady doing the dishes if i could get 2 slices of bread as it was 8h35 so i was apparently 5 minutes late. I will pass on how rude this old lady was towards me, enough that i asked for a refund for the 2 nights i had left there and i left. There is a way to interact with guests that travel across the world to come visit NZ like i did. Of course as a solo female traveller i stood up for myself and defended myself. I no longer felt safe and at peace so i left. I had never seen anywhere in the world breakfast time for 1h30 with no flexibility when you are dealing with travellers. So definitely i recommend my felllow travellers to look for a better option…

We arrived to find our key sellotaped to the office door. Turns out the office isn't staffed any more. This wasn't particularly a problem, but it meant that things like borrowing dvds wasn't possible (and TV was poor, so we would have liked to have borrowed one). Also, the motel book in the room said that the room would be serviced every day ( not to make beds, but to empty bins and provide additional tea and coffee supplies). Our room was not serviced during our stay. Room was ok, but very tried looking. The room slept 4 people and had cooking facilities, but we had just 1 bowl, 2 plates and cutlery for 2. None of the crockery or cutlery matched, which just gave the impression of being uncared for and tired. There was a broken chair outside the bedroom door with the previous occupants cigarette butts in. Gardens for all motel rooms are joined, so we returned back from a day out to find that the man next door was using our chairs to dry his washing on! We could see that the motel is up for sale and it felt like the owners had lost interest. Location was very good, just one road back from the lake ( and easy access to the lake via a gennel).
