City Express Suites by Marriott Tijuana Rio

A clean and comfortable hotel in a very safe and upscale part of Tijuana. You are a five minute walk to shopping at Plaza Rio, and a 10 minute walk to the Tijuana cultural center. Revolution street is about a 15 minute walk. Uber is now in Tijuana so transportation is easy and safe too.

The first impression was good. Security at the street entrance spoke English and sent us up one floor to the "lobby". The front desk staff member was pleasant and able to communicate with us in English. When we stepped into the elevator to go up to the 8th floor, we weren't told that we had to slide our room key into a slot by the elevator button panel. After going up to a different floor and back down to the lobby level, another employee helped us eventually get to the 8th floor. The room itself was decent with a full-height window wall facing the street and a kitchenette wall on the opposite side of the room. There were no towels in the kitchenette and only two bath towels and a hand towel in the bathroom. Our request for more cloth towels was denied. A woman from housekeeping waved her pointy finger when she brought us paper towels after we asked for cloth towels again, Then came night-time. I was awoken by the voices in the next room after midnight. The conversation could be heard clearly for possibly an hour or so. It sounded like someone was also having a conversation in the hallway. At about the same time, there was loud banging outside on the street. It was not a good night's sleep for me at this hotel. I checked out the next morning.
