Baywatch Motor Lodge

Was a great stay, but had been booked for two nights and was paid and booked but to be told no I had to move across to another motel was such a let down! What my money must be a different colour! Paid for two but only got one! Well half the points you’ll get!

The motel was exceptionally clean and well appointed. Bed was comfortable. There was plenty of bath linen. Loved the view over Caroline Bay. The unit we had (No.14) had zero road noise. There were 2 x trains. One early in the evening, and one during the night, neither of which was a problem. The hosts are very pleasant. We will stay here again

185 NZD is greatly overpriced. The bathroom is very outdated, cracks in the wall, drains stink because there's obviously a blockage somewhere and the trains right at the back door woke me at 3.30am. The room was very clean however and had a 2 seater lounge with recliner. But for the price, I woukd say look elsewhere. It's big town and there seem to be many other accommodation choices.

I called earlier in the week and booked and the lady priced the room at $160, my friend turns up earlier and the man at hotel tried to charge $170 and ended up charging her $165 after my friend queried it. When I arrived there was 3 small dogs running around the small car park and the owner lady said ignore them ..just drive, I really was concerned I may hit one and get in trouble. Over our 1 night stay the dogs run into our room 2 x and 1 stole a f/cloth off the bed and spent a lot of time wandering the car park which is very close to the main road I saw the lady owner the next morning and mentioned we had been overcharged and she admitted room 1 was indeed $160, she seemed very unconcerned and said oh we are going through a price change ( she was in the office when my friend paid) The room was lovely but I would never return

Friendly welcome, spacious room. Road noise dies off in early evening, Very very clean, only negative is you can hear the upstairs units tv and conversations when it’s quiet. Really nice quality toiletries in the bathroom, would definetlynstay there again, safe for a single female

great outlook very comfortable bed and facilities

The manager was friendly, helpful and efficient. The motor lodge was next to the State Highway 1 and easy to find. The room was well appointed with tea/ coffee making facilities, microwave, fridge and 2 ring cooker. it was warm and comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The shower had a good jet on it. Loved the towel origami on the bed ( first we have had in New Zealand!). It fully served it's purpose for the one night that we were there. Disliked · The room we were allocated did not have a sea view as was suggested when booking and seeing the photos. It was on the ground floor overlooking the car park. Our room was the furtherest from the highway approx 100m away. sadly it did not have double glazing so we could hear the vehicular traffic all night, particularly large trucks climbing up the hill. (We should have worn ear plugs) The walls are thin and we could hear the people next door and the people above going to the toilet and walking around in their room. Could have done with some USB charging plugs for mobile phones etc. Al’s top tips Not all rooms have a sea view, check when booking to avoid disappointment. Take ear plugs as the traffic noise from trucks will keep you awake. Restaurant Bennys Again nearby does great meals.

To start with Ray & Debbie were superb, couldnt do enough for me. Noble hounds visiting me and saying hello as well! Had an ocean view room, roomy, all mod cons, so so neat and tidy. Had same breakfast here I had at Novetel Auckland airport and Debbies brekkie left them for dead! Looking at going back to ride around NZ next summer and if I do, will most definitely stay here again

Excellent stay. Absolutely lovely owners who were incredibly helpful and check in was incredibly easy. Stayed in room 14 with which has an excellent view. Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Ordered breakfast in our room which was a lovely service and well priced. Parking is very tight but Motor Lodge is well situated.
