Lord Bute Hotel & Restaurant

We had a cream tea which was a gift. Champagne greeted us, the food was amazing. Beautiful sandwiches excellent scones with jam & cream & to die for small patisseries. We had a wonderful afternoon. It was finished with a pina colada. We will be going back very soon.

We attended a meal i had set up for my parents Birthday, the greeting we received was very friendly and a good first impression, we sat outside and the waiter came out to explain our dietary requirements had been noted and was a fun character however did ask us the same questions multiple times. we had a bottle of champagne and ordered food, we were then shown inside to our table, the restaurant is lovely but for a Saturday night it was completely dead and didn't pick up at all so lacked ambiance. it was hard to gain the waiters attention to order a bottle of wine for when our mains came out. The food looked good on paper but i found it very bland, the scallops were well cooked but over all the dish was bland. My father enjoyed his duck confit and my partner and i ordered the steak. His came out medium well and mine well done even though we requested rare - medium rare. i sent mine back and a new one came out by the time everyone was almost done, again this was over cooked for my request and more medium well but at that point i just wanted to catch up with everyone and eat. The meal itself again was just bland, nothing was seasoned and the chips were completely passable just skin on unseasoned potato, The only saving grace was the garlic which added flavor and was pleasant. I did not leave a tip as nothing was offered for the fact i had to eat after everyone else, it would have been nice to of maybe offered to even take the supplement for the steak off the bill. All in all i would have left a 3 star review however that night i was incredibly poorly and had stomach cramps. The 2 stars is purely for the friendliness of the service, Value wise at £330 for 4 2 course set meals, a bottle of champagne and a bottle of wine, had the food been of standard i think this would have been good however i have had better food in local pubs.

What a beautiful stay at this gem of a Hotel. The food was amazing .Great menu choice and wine listing . We were lucky to be able to experience a evening meal and Sunday lunch and what we had was out of this world. Followed by great service from all of the Lord Bute team. They really do go over and above to make you feel welcome and have a wonderful time. Will be back soon .

I booked this for my wedding anniversary with the wife. We had such a lovely stay and were very well looked after.The Lord Bute team were very pleasant and professional.The Room was very clean and tidy. Overall we had great customer service and a beautiful meal from the restaurant. They really made us feel special. We will definitely be returning. Thank you all.

Hotel was lovely, seating areas outside to enjoy the sun and a wonderful Restaurant, with table cloths (always more luxurious) as at The Ritz and definitely Not seen nowadays! The decor was nice, clean and welcoming, as were the staff (Don and Bailey) very helpful. The best was yet to come …. The restaurant has 2 rosette awards, I believe and the chef Bradley Green phenomenal, as you can taste in his food. But the price was what you’d pay at a decent pub ! In fact, we Have paid more at our local ! If you haven’t been already, get booked in, truly is Food Heaven. Thank you Lord Bute.

Always delivers on food and service! Been here numerous times. Wonderful celebration for a 90th birthday with friends and neighbours. Staff were brilliant and attentive. The food was delicious and great value too. Two of our party had not been before and both said they’d return! Recommend.

A little jewel - we stayed here for one night with breakfast included. From the minute we arrived you felt so welcome the staff could not do enough for us. Breakfast was amazing everything and anything you wanted with constant offers of top ups, would certainly return and recommend if you are in the area.

Stayed to visit friends locally based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. Booked a large double room 106 which had stains on the carpet and bed cover, and bedside lamps which flickered constantly . The receptionist said that they were aware and had changed bulbs to no avail. Shame that they didn’t inspect the electrics. Went to the bar for an evening drink before leaving to join friends for dinner to be told that as we hadn’t booked, we would need to leave if a dinner customer came in, totally bizarre ! Explained that we were residents which made no difference at all to the young guy who seemed confused himself.Then directed to the pub next door. At breakfast the restaurant was late opening, and the breakfast was not great and rather undersized contrary to reviews here . Frankly not worth the £169 for B&B.

Lovely hotel on the edge of the new forest. Easy access to nearby towns and Dorset coast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean comftable. Will be booking again the next time I’m in the area, hopefully within the next few months.
