There was a fireworks show in the evening which we could watch from the hotel, but the facilities are old, the room is dated and has a strange smell. The bedding was also subpar, almost disgusting to look at. Definitely not worth the money.

We booked Japanese tatami room and it was very cozy. Our room actually had a toilet and a sink, just no shower or bath tub. If you’re looking to stay for a day or two, this hotel would be perfect. Really enjoyed the fireworks, the hotel faced right in front of it. We watched it in the room! Breakfast was average though.

We understand that this is an older hotel, but the rooms could really do with some maintenance and upgrading. There were a few issues in our room that gave the impression that upkeep has been neglected. The air-conditioning airflow was inconsistent, and the remote control bracket was broken and hanging on a nail. We also understand that the hotel may be facing manpower shortages. While there was a notice informing guests that futons would need to be set up ourselves, we were still a little surprised, as we had expected this to be part of the service. The mattress also showed visible stains and could do with replacement, although we were pleased to find that the bedsheets were clean. The location is convenient, but the overall experience would be much improved with better room maintenance and attention to guest comfort.

This Japanese-owned inn is in a prime location in Lake Toya, right next to the bus stop. You can watch the fireworks from your room at night, the baths are comfortable, it's very clean, and the breakfast is delicious. We were lucky to have clear weather and even saw Mount Yotei! Sitting by the lake is incredibly peaceful.

Great view of the lake and Mount Yotei from the room. Within walking distance of the lake, restaurants, and shopping. Toilet and sink in room. Shower is in the onsen. Onsen is in the basement.

Breakfast was delicious and the views from the room was gorgeous! However do note that rooms on the second floor have a shared toilet outside the room so it can be a little inconvenient. But for the price and the onsen I would say this is really worth it!!

The price was relatively good, especially since I booked a last-minute trip to Hokkaido. All the trendy private onsen hotels were fully booked, so I settled for this one with a public hot spring. To my surprise, I had the entire onsen to myself that evening! The room had a traditional Japanese tatami design, and I could see Lake Toya from the window. It felt a bit old but was perfectly functional and had no strange odors. There's a black 7-Eleven nearby, just a short walk away. The only slight inconvenience was transportation; I couldn't find a taxi in the morning and had to wait for a bus to the JR station.

Since it’s an “old-school” ryokan, smokers are accepted so room was a little bit smelly at the beginning. Luckily the hot spring was great (100% gensen kakenagashi) and the view was stunning. Price was also reasonable. So we’d still recommend it :)

First, my apologies to the hotel! Their service was excellent. I didn't see anyone in the bathing area when I entered, so I took some photos. I wanted to share these with anyone considering staying here, so they could see the environment in detail. The hotel is directly opposite Mount Yotei, offering fantastic views. The room came equipped with bath towels, hand towels, bathrobes, and a razor. Before entering the hot spring pool, you'll need to bring your toiletries and room key. You can place your belongings in a basket before entering the hot spring. A hot spring tax of 300 JPY is collected before check-in. The washing machines are free to use, but laundry detergent is not provided. You'll need to buy it outside or bring your own. The room shows some signs of age, which makes it perfect for nostalgic enthusiasts! It has both air conditioning and a radiator. The view from the window is absolutely beautiful, making it a great spot to sit by the bed and relax. Overall, it's pretty good.

The location is right on the hot spring street. If you're coming by bus, just get off at the stop. A taxi from Toya Station, which is a bit of a distance, costs 2400 yen, which is acceptable. However, you really need to be aware of the food at this hotel; both breakfast and dinner were genuinely not good, and everything seemed to be pre-prepared. The hotel rooms don't have private bathrooms, but the communal toilets are very clean. The bathing area has two small pools. Still, soaking in a hot spring while it's snowing is quite a unique experience. Being right on the hot spring street makes it quite convenient.

The location is very good, in walkable distance to a lot attractions. Though the room only comes with toilet and washing sink but you can shower downstairs. There’s also a shared toilet outside the room every floor. The room structure is well organised, the sleeping area was very comfortable and you can see Mount Yotei from the room! Some of the reviews mentioned having smoke smell in the room but we were lucky that our room didn’t! Overally it was a very cutesy tatami experience for us. Onsen was good too!

Great location. The view of Lake Toya is the highlight of this room. However, I was awake in the morning since the walls aren’t soundproof and I’m able to hear people walking and talking outside.

The hotel is right next to Lake Toya, offering stunning views of the lake and Mount Yotei from the rooms. We could also enjoy the fireworks display at night, and its proximity to the bus center makes the location excellent. The hotel is mostly self-service and even has a hot spring, which is quite nice overall. However, I was disappointed that the rooms are not smoke-free; the smell was very strong. Also, there's only a bedroom, with all washing and toilet facilities being shared outside the room, so if that bothers you, choose carefully. I gave a low rating for the facilities mainly because a few days after I booked and paid, the hotel released more rooms for the same date at almost 30% cheaper, which made me feel ripped off.
