Residenza il Barone

We recommend il Barone for the great location. The room was clean and breakfast was delicious, especially the croissants! A special grazie to Saverio for being an amazing host, recommending restaurants, and booking a boat trip. We hope to return soon! Samuel (Claire and Paul)

We spent four nights at Residenza il Barone and had a great time. First, Saverio; he is the perfect host. He is polite, patient, and very helpful. He communicated with us by WhatsApp before we arrived and sent clear instructions of how to find the hotel from the train station. He had many recommendations for restaurants [fyi, we enjoyed the Forno Vecchio, and Il Convivio], and guided us on how to find a particular beach we wanted to go to [Spiaggia di Michelino - which was definitely worth the 45 minute walk from Tropea]. All round very decent guy who does his job extremely well. He even lent us an umbrella one day [though we didn't need it in the end!]. We stayed in the Junior Attic room which was spacious, clean and comfortable with a good shower and bathroom ensuite. The free loan of beach towels is a bonus, as is fresh bottled water every day. Wi-fi in the room wasn't always reliable but you can find it on the main staircase if you don't mind hanging around on the landing. Breakfast on the roof terrace is lovely, served by the wonderful Mrs Lizy and Mrs Francesca. Fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast, croissant, coffee and/or tea, fruit juices, water, omelettes etc. Overall, we had a great stay, and the Residenza Il Barone is perfectly located in Tropea's old town being close to shops, restaurants, concert venues etc. Also worth a mention is the nearby Minimarket da Pina where we bought daily supplies of cheese, olives, vegetables, and gorgeous dried figs stuffed with either walnuts or almonds. Thank you Trope and its people for being so kind and hospitable.

Beautiful b& b in an historic building - the rooms are large and impeccably clean. BUT we are in the heart of Tropea and there is a VERY loud ‘80’s band playing immediately below our window. The wooden shutters are closed but there is no escape from the noise. The walls are shaking. This is totally unacceptable! NO SLEEP tonight!

The apartment was excellent , very comfortable . Location is right in the centre and close to everything . Saverio was a gentleman and was extremely helpful , carried our suitcases and recommended restaurants which were great . Highly recommend this accomodation .

First of all, I would like to praise the host Saverio, who is the best host I have ever met. He really went out of his way to provide us with all the information (good restaurants), amenities (beaches, boat trips). Otherwise, the building is beautiful, the location is in the heart of Tropea, you just walk through the door and it's happening. Still, no noise at night. Lots of great restaurants of all price ranges, wonderful little shops with souvenirs and clothes., The room is really big, the bed is comfortable. Very tasty and varied breakfast. In addition to the classic "croissants", there are also omelets of your choice, prosciutto, cheese... A good selection of natural juices and excellent coffee.

The best place we stayed on our trip to Italy! Saverio was extremely welcoming and helpful through the duration of our stay. Breakfast was perfect being located on the terrace with stunning views of Tropea. Our room was clean and very spacious. We will certainly be back soon!!!
