The worst hotel i have ever been to in Zanzibar. Really dont understand why this is a 4 star hotel, it should definitely be downgraded. Rooms are dark and very old fashioned, this resort has not been upgraded for a very long time. The bathrooms smell of sewerage, especially the shower. We reported it and smell went away for a day or two then came back, very unhygienic. Food is terrible, lots of cold dishes, supposed to be warm, with bad quality of sinewy meat, food cooked at dinner time is used again the next day. The chefs do their best but its clear the owners buy cheapest ingredients available. Kitchen also looks dirty and looking at floors, behind the scenes, saw food laying around. Do nor book at this resort, there are lots of 4 star hotels in Zanzibar that are excellent!!

The worst food, drinks and service. The glasses they are using (looks like my granny's false teeth glass) for all inclusive drinks are the same irrespectively of what you order. Don't have all the drinks on the limited all inclusive list. I would rate it a 3 star.

Decent looking resort and average at best rooms. Food is not as advertised, especially when taking the all inclusive packages. Forcing you to pay extra from alacarte menu. Would rather pay extra for other resorts in island. Clear bias towards guests who come from Europe or who is not included on all-inclusive packages and pays out of pocket. Shouldn't even offer all inclusive deals to this resort.

It is not often that I write reviews, but I feel if I can help one couple who might have saved to go to this 'hotel' for a dream holiday then this review is worthwhile. From the sullen and rude staff, to the watered down cocktails, the hotel seemed to go out of its way to make our trip awful. The absolute worst review however must be saved for the food. I cannot begin to describe how bad the food was. If you want to lose weight on a holiday, this is the place! Zanzibar itself is a wonderful destination, just avoid this place if you can.

I enjoyed my stay at Uroa, rooms are cleaned and linen changed daily.Meals are delicious if you love stews, same tuna fish for the catch of the day for 7 days I was there, if you are tired, don’t wake up for breakfast, there’s only eggs that are edible in all that buffet. Bring iron or pay dollars that are charged per item,a skirt few dollars, a shirt or a pant, charged per item. An hour’s drive from all the activities that was 5 dollars per trip on a daily basis.I loved my morning walks by the ocean, very safe. Poverty of the ordinary citizens disheartening.Their poverty ruins the fun, their desperation to get dollars leads to unrealistic expectations from tourists.Bring all the swimwear you have,Do feed the turtles and visit the Kendwa Rocks Beach, I’m still in awe!

Great resort ❤️ I was there in December 2023 with my lovely 5 yo. Staff was super kind, we used doctor which was amazing checking on me every day after I was bitten by some insects. Everybody extremely helpful, great animations, delicious food, perfect swimming pools for adults and children, brilliant acces to beach. Amazing trips made by beach Kowalski great prices and great organization. Cannot recommend enough, best holidays ever❤️❤️❤️

Firstly, I wanna let everyone know that I enjoyed the stay in this resort. The room was nice, air conditioned and always well cleaned. I loved the food in this resort - everything was seasoned very well, even though at the end of the stay it already felt somehow repetitive. The best were the fresh fruit juices, which must have been squeezed from the fresh fruit - lime juice, carrot juice, watermelon juice (it tastes completely different than in Europe, lol) and some other like baobab juice, all delicious. No wonder the all inclusive drinks were delicious too. If I'm to compare the drinks to Egypt, where they used bought juice of a poor quality, drinks here were much, much better. I also enjoyed the possibility of swimming in the sea after sunset (as it wasn't allowed in every resort I visited) and the beach was guarded by the resort staff. It was necessary, as even though the beach was right in front of the resort, it was accessible to the public, so there were locals offering you stuff, especially trips, with which were some problems before according to our travel agent. Most of the staff was very nice and helpful, but sometimes they seemed a bit lazy. The travel agent herself told us that the working tempo here is slower than the one in Europe and if we really want something, we should push the staff a bit if they're too slow. And of course, there was an evening program every day, but the entertainers expected to be tipped afterwards, so if you don't wanna spend unnecessary money, don't stay for too long in the evening. There was also a free wifi in the resort which worked okay, but only at the reception and the restaurant, but there were plenty of seats everywhere, so you could hang out comfortably. The access to drinking water was also okay, as all inclusive guests got a big bottle, which the staff could refill at the bar at all times except at night when the bar was closed. (The guests without all inclusive could buy this water bottle for 10 $, I think). The cleaning staff also put a small water bottle for every guest into the room every day after cleaning it, so it was impossible to run out. However, there were also several drawbacks in the resort - the worst from my point of view was the insect that was pretty much impossible to avoid, even at the room. Even though the resort was well kept and clean, we had to deal with several cockroaches in our room, one giant centipede, some weird leech looking bugs, a couple of big ants and even a small lizard in our bathroom. You should definitely close your suitcases at all times to avoid bringing this stuff back home. The doors and walls were also anything but soundproof, so we had to listen to a couple next door f***ing as if they were right next to us, which was definitely unpleasant. There were also very common short power outages in the resort, which was slightly annoying as the light could be turned off when you were in the shower, for example. Once, even the water stopped running for a coupl

We stayed here for 11 nights in November. The food was OK – nothing to write home about but adequate - corporate canteen quality – vegetable soup was on the menu far too often and they really needed to open another egg station at breakfast, queue was horrendous sometimes (not sure why they can’t use the grill). There was no logic to the breakfast display – as an example the pancakes were nowhere near the honey! It was nice to have complimentary juice/water at all meals. You are only allowed one pool towel a day (first resort I have ever stayed at with this rule), so you have to take your soggy, wet towel to lunch with you so you can use it in the afternoon – I think they have issues with their laundry, one day there were no towels in our room, and when I contacted reception they said there had been a problem with the laundry and housekeeping would bring us one – which they didn’t! Eventually we collected two pool towels from reception, who were very reluctant to give them to us – were we not supposed to shower for 24 hours? Housekeeping in general was not great, the teaspoon I used to stir my coffee wasn’t washed on any day (I rinsed it out in the afternoon when I realized it hadn’t been washed), no idea what the complimentary toiletries in the shower were because the bottles had no labels (they had been filled so often the writing was obscure), and the housekeeper looking after our room had no idea what they were either (I asked her), so not sure what she would have filled them up with. This is a beach resort so it would be nice if the bathroom, or patio, had some sort of washing line to dry swimming costumes etc. The all-inclusive cocktail menu was not great, very limited selection – however it was nice to have wine by the glass, from a bottle, not a box. There is no table or poolside service, all drinks must be collected from the bar. I knew there was going to be no Wi-Fi in the room, I believe it’s something the resort should look at, if you are trying to keep in contact with your office, or check in for flights, or download books on your kindle etc. at odd hours, it’s not always convenient to go to a public area. TV reception was good (I only tuned into the news, so no idea what other channels are available), but the TV is placed in such a way that you cannot see it from the bed (see picture). It needs to be fixed higher on the wall. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

4⭐️ from 5. place with low tide for several hours a day, in my opinion it doesn't matter. nice place, comfortable beds, easy going to ocean, however staff in hotel is unbelievable - Lazy and arrogant. Even if we were on all inclusive staff required payment by alcohol/ non alcoholic drinks( around 9pm).

Horrible place to stay. We ended up staying for 3 hours and checked out. The beach was ugly, food was Italian and dry, service was horrible (we had to get the servers attention to order a meal in their ala cart restaurant, the pools looked like they haven’t been painted in years. The music they blast from the pool is horrible and they’re no getting away from it.
