Its proximity to the train station is this hotel’s highest value, it only takes a few minutes walk. We have dinned in the nicely decorated restaurant for years, every time we visit the town. The food is always great, especially the Czech specialities. This time we needed to stay overnight, and unfortunately it was the last time. Even though we had arrived on a work day, the hotel reception was closed, and we had to wait over 15 minutes to get checked in by a barman. A modern, spacious elevator took us to the second floor. Our room had a quaint decor, was tiny, with stale smell. With no AC and facing west side it felt like a hot oven. Opening the windows alleviated the stale smell a bit, but did not cool the room, as it was hot outside too, could not rest after a long journey. The beds creaked, mattress was uncomfortably soft, 1 pillow flat. 1 accessible power outlet is not sufficient in this era of chargeable electronics. The bathroom with a plastic curtain and toilet paper propped up on top of a hair dryer lower our rating to a 2 star. Breakfast was included in the $100 rate, it consisted of automatic coffee machine, watered down juices, day old wilted vegetables, decent scrambled eggs, some cold cuts and sliced cheeses, again a little tired looking. Fresh loaf of bread was delicious, fragrant, a highlight.
