Hotel Valence dengan Kolam Renang

A good located hotel for travellers crossing France, rooms are clean and functional, but that’s it. Reception is a one man show, running across area, attending phone and in between receiving check in guests. Restaurant as a mass distribution of food, loud, unreal and large, no love to detail. Employees are doing their work, but attitude and guest welcoming is a word of an other universe. At last we paid 214 € for a double room with breakfast and 85€ for a dinner, served with no attention and a lack of attention. Unfortunate.

Having wanted to visit the restaurant Pic in Valence for many years we finally made it this summer. We stayed for just one night in the hotel and we ate in the gastronomic restaurant. The experience was truly exceptional, from the moment we arrived to our departure. Our room was upgraded but this was not mentioned by the reception on our arrival, although I did of course realise when I saw the spacious room with outside seating area /terrace and beautiful marble bathtub (as well as standalone shower). Everything inside and outside the hotel is perfectly maintained and all members of staff go out of their way to ensure that their guests have a wonderful time. We expected the food in the 3 star restaurant to be amazing and it genuinely exceeded our expectations. The chef and her team manage to create exquisite masterpieces with (mostly) relatively simple ingredients. Although a huge amount of thought clearly goes into the presentation of each dish , there is no question of style taking precedence over substance. My allergies and food preferences were accounted for with no fuss, every morsel of food was bursting with flavour, the wine pairing was excellent, all local wines as we wished, each one pairing perfectly with the dish it accompanied. The relatively young team worked seamlessly together and managed to balance an extremely efficient service with a genuine and friendly interest in their guests . We felt that every member of the team truly enjoyed their work and wanted their guests to have a wonderful experience. We have eaten in a number of other 3 star establishments and I would have no hesitation in saying that this was by far the most enjoyable experience. Yes it is expensive but it genuinely feels like good value.

This hotel is a very short drive from the highway and near several shops and restaurants. We were pleased that the hotel allowed dogs and our room had great access to a beautiful garden. The bed was very comfortable and the room had an efficient layout. It felt luxurious for a reasonable price.

The hotel is a rather new building located near a series of roundabouts near the motorway. It provides parking, which was much appreciated. The reception had the usual Ibis basic look, plasticky but clean enough. Our room on the fourth floor was the usual tiny room this type of hotel provides, basic beds, tiny shelves, and a teeny, tiny rack to hang a couple of jackets, instead of a wardrobe, and in the bathroom only one flimsy towel that you can use to dry your face and your a*s after the shower. The staff was friendly enough but when my husband asked how to regulate the airco, because the room was coldish, the receptionist told him the airco doesn't work because ”people complain it's too hot or too cold so they switched it off” which was a weird answer. She gave him a blanket to deal with the cold, but the blanket was dirty and quite disgusting (photo attached). We had breakfast in the hotel for which we paid 7,50 € because we did not have time to look for another restaurant and needed to get on our way ASAP. If it wasn't for the disgusting blanket I would have given them a 3, because everything here is average, but the blanket was a major downer.
