Hotel berhampiran Der Gutenberg - Die Buchmacherey, Velbert

We stayed in this hotel for five nights and it was a lovely vacation. The lady on the reception desk , Nami, was very helpful when we arrived and she found us a room overlooking the Schwebebahn, as I had requested. The room was fine with a kettle and coffee and tea. There were plenty of electrical sockets which was good for recharging. Ther was a good sized shower in the bathroom, with plenty of hot water. The buffet breakfast was delicious with cereals, cold meats,cheese, eggs and fruit and yoghurt along with various bread rolls and croissants. Also fruit juice and coffee/tea. Free Wifi was also available. One night we had drinks in the bar and again the staff were very friendly. The hotel is located very near to the Schwebebahn stop and also close to the main station in Wuppertal. Everything in the town was easily accessible by foot. I would vertainly stay there again.

Parkplätze gibt es direkt am Hauptbahnhof im eigenen Parkhaus. Achtung: Nur die Parkdecks mit ungerader Nummer haben direkten Zugang zum Hotelaufzug. Und auch dann ist nicht immer klar, wo es denn jetzt zur Rezeption geht, weil sich der Aufzug zur Parkdeck UND zur Rezeption öffnet. Der Empfang ist freundlich und professionell. Das Standard-Doppelzimmer ist sauber und praktisch eingerichtet. Es gibt einen großen Schreibtisch, der Schrank mit Safe bietet Platz für kurze Aufenthalte. Viel Ablagefläche gibt es auch im Bad. Das TV-Gerät verfügt über wenige Kanäle in unzeitgemäß schlechter Bildauflösung. Radio gibt es nicht. Immerhin: das stabile WLAN erlaubt Streaming. Das Frühstücksbuffet löst alle coronabedingten Herausforderungen sehr gut und mit exzellentem Service. Kaffeespezialitäten gibt es aus dem Automaten, Eierspeisen werden frisch zubereitet.

Het gemiddelde vd Valk gevoel maar dan Sheraton. Bij de naam van dit hotel, verwacht je een hotel met hoge klasse (zeker voor de prijs) Vriendelijk ontvangen en geholpen bij de receptie en na inchecken gelijk de koffers uit de auto gehaald welke in de parkeergarage onder het hotel stond. Het blijft bijzonder dat je moet betalen om te parkeren bij een hotel. Zeker met de huidige hotel prijzen, mag dit wel gratis zijn en voelt niet gastvrij. De kamer was mooi groot (maar een plek om de koffer was er niet dus dan maar op de grond. In deze moderne tijd verwacht je een laptop, Chrome cast of wat dan ook aan een tv te kunnen koppelen echter zat deze zo dicht getimmerd met hun eigen systeem dat er niets mogelijk was. Als de tv zenders nou nog internationaal waren, maar zeer veel Duits met een enkele Engelse zender er op. Op dag 1 bij het ontbijt (wat in het weekend tot 11:00 mogelijk is) stond de eerste dag niemand bij de ingang en liepen serveersters bijna rennend de tafels op te ruimen. Wanneer je om 10:00 binnen loopt verwacht je dat de broodmanden nog gewoon vol gehouden worden, dit was niet direct het geval. Dag 2 was nog vreemder. We liepen weer door omdat er niemand stond maar kwam er een serveerster op ons bijna afgerend, drukt een blaadje met een pen in de hand en roept iets van invullen. Hierop moest mijn naam, kamer en handtekening gezet worden. De reden hiervan weten we nog niet. Maar nog vreemder en niet zoals het zou moeten het blaadje maar op het deskje gelegd maar niemand die dit gelijk weg haalde en dus lag er een naam en handtekening zo voor het grijpen! En ook nu weer nog 2 kleine speciale broodjes en pas toen we bijna opstonden om weg te lopen verschenen er nog wat nieuwe croissantjes. Alles bij elkaar niet meer dan een duur gemiddeld hotel wat ik niet van een hotel met deze naam verwacht had.

The hotel is just a few minutes from the Philharmonie U-Bahn station or just a 15 minute walk from the main station and hence very nicely located. The staff are very professional and gave me a good welcome. The room was very well-kept and for the price, a good size. Excellent WiFi coverage at good connectivity speeds. Overall, a very nice stay in a very nice hotel.

Das Gebäude ist lieblos eingerichtet. Es sieht aus wie eine Zuchtanstalt. Der Eingangsbereich ist deprimierend, keine ansprechenden Möbel oder sonstige Einrichtungs-Gegenstände welche einem Gast auch nur minimal den Eindruck und das Gefühl geben in einem Hotel zu sein. Die Matratze (zumindest in meinem Zimmer) ist durch, die Zimmereinrichtung eher bescheiden. Das Bad und das Zimmer waren sauber. Wände sind hellhörig und ich muss sagen, die Zimmernachbarn hatten einen befriedigenden Abend bzw. eine zufriedenstellende Nacht. Der Preis von 70€ für eine Nacht zu zweit ist eher zu hoch für dieses ”Hotel” aber Erfahrungen kosten Geld.

Ich bin eine gebürtige Essenerin und kenne deshalb das Hotel schon ewig. Die Lage ist zentral, gegenüber vom Hauptbahnhof und mitten in der Stadt. Die Zimmer sind je nach Kategorie geräumig. Ich finde es toll, das man die Fenster öffnen kann. Auch die Betten sind bequem. Frühstück gegen Aufpreis, dort gibt es allerdings Verbesserungspotential. Trotzdem 100% Empfehlung

Had a great stay in Moxy Essen from 11/06/2023 – 14/06/2023. I was travelling around the Rhine Ruhr region with my friend (and we both have Marriott Gold elite status from staying in a Marriott for university). This hotel was in a great location right next to the HBF station in Essen and was clean and modern. The bar had a good vibe and we had free drinks on arrival. We used points for this stay, and the way that the points worked out meant that we had 2 different bookings over 3 nights, but this was not an issue and we managed to get the same room for the duration of our stay (we even got a bonus welcome drink for it)! I’m probably not going to do the hotel justice here, but it was a well laid out and stylish hotel with decent sized rooms. We had a twin room to share and the staff made extra effort so that we were on the quieter side of the building. We initially checked into the hotel at approximately 2pm, but decided to spend the afternoon in Wuppertal. When we arrived back on the first night. I had a shower, and there was no shampoo. No big deal, but I ended up going down to reception to ask for some. The man couldn’t find any shampoo, but about half an hour later, some appeared, I think he probably brought I from the shop as it wasn’t in the normal bright pink Moxy bottle, but it was really nice of him to make the effort. That day, the weather hit 32 degrees and whilst we were waiting for the shampoo, we tried to work out how the air conditioning worked. Between me and my friend that I was travelling with, we couldn’t work it out, so we asked the employee. However, between the 3 of us and Google we could not work it out. Anyway, I think we were the only people in the hotel that night as this was approximately midnight local time, and I think we went in every room in the corridor. To try and find one with working air con. All of them were empty! We eventually found one that wasn’t like a sauna and packed our stuff and moved. The employee was genuinely the nicest and most helpful employee I think I have ever seen in a hotel, very apologetic, but also very sociable. It was really nice to meet him as he was so happy to help. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name, but he had a ponytail I think and said he was Turkish. I think he will know who we are when he reads this! I saw him off duty in the bar the next night and thanked him. We even got 2 free breakfasts out of this!! The breakfast was good, though probably not worth the price we were told when we booked (I think it was about 15 euros but can’t remember as I have stayed in about 5 hotels in the past week and they have all rolled into one a bit). There was a few cooked items (Bacon & Scrambled Egg) and a few cold/ cereal items, but not loads. I probably wouldn’t recommend getting breakfast as all the Moxys allow a free coffee/ juice in the morning and a pastry, which is a nice touch. Always a good stay. Sometimes, during the night a little bit noisy, but is nothing. Next to the city centre, next to a shopping center, next to good restaurants, free parking in a garage and in the street... What else :)

When we checked in; 1 agent checked us in while the other 2 just stared at us like we were aliens. One of them had a smirk on their face throughout my check-in, I wanted to ask what she thought was so funny with us checking into the hotel but I didn’t want to spoil the evening. They all started laughing when we left the checkin desk. Know that we are non-European. Very unwelcoming and unprofessional. I suggest cultural diversity training. The beds were disgusting! Small strips of hair all over the fitted sheet. The Most Disgusting was the pee stain on the sheets! The bed smelled like piss too. It was supposed to be non-smoking but someone had been smoking in the room or the insulation/vent systems need more work. I didn’t want to deal with the unprofessional front desk staff so I suffered through the uncleanliness and just put 2 towels on top of the duvet just to feel at ease sleeping, even though we were only there for one night…Thank God I didn’t book for longer. The only positive was breakfast; it was adequate for 1 night stay. Definitely won’t be spending another dime here.

Nice hotel. The lady at the reception/bar was very friendly and working very hard. The lobby is nice with some cosy chairs and couches. Rooms are simple , but clean and really quiet. Shower had a decent water pressure. Breakfast was tasty, good variety of food.
