This hotel provides a lot of pluses and some minuses. We were looking for a five star hotel, close to the Lavaux wine region (UNESCO heritage site), and didn’t want to stay in Montreux (wanted a more intimate setting). Trios Couronnes was a Leading Hotel of the World, had good reviews, and ChatGPT reported the 3rd and 4th floor Junior Suites were recently renovated with new beds (which is important to us). So, I chose the property. The bedding and the towels were all great, and the bathroom was recently renovated. But they haven’t done any updating of the furniture. We had a very well located junior suite on the second floor, in the center. So, we had a lovely view of the lake. Views from the third floor are probably a bit better. The gym and Spa appeared to be recently renovated and I was delighted to find both a recumbent and a upright bike. However, the public areas, such as the bar/restaurant/reception area, etc. are all very tired and need a full refurbishment. We ate two breakfasts and one dinner at the hotel. The breakfast was very disappointing. The first day we showed up at 9:45 AM, the restaurant closes at 10 AM. The host who greeted us said, “you better hurry up and go to the buffet because it’s closing in five minutes.” There was no offer to eat off the menu, which was definitely included in our room rate. The buffet itself was picked over, with very little food left. Very disappointing for what is supposed to be a five star hotel. We had dinner the following night at Manabu. Manabu was lovely; the chef, Alastair Long, came out to meet us and I noticed he did the same with all the tables. We each ordered the Omakase sushi for 65CHD per person, it was 16 pieces per serving and perfect for us, as we had had a large lunch. The wine list was also terrific! We were lucky enough to get a 2016 Duzaley from Antoine Bovard vineyard. Both the Omakase and wine were Delicious!! Would I stay here again, no. I would stay at a five star in Montreax that had been recently “fully” r renovated. There is more to walk around and see in Montreax, there are more restaurant choices, and you are also right in the middle of the Lavaux region.
