Wakayama Castle is right at your doorstep, and it's super convenient to catch the Tama Densha (train). The location is fantastic. There's a Don Quijote about a 700m walk away, which is great for shopping. The room was clean and tidy. This was my second stay, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit.

Highly recommend this great hotel!!! Clean, big room, super nice view (wakayama castle right outside the window), very convenient location with ¥1000 parking (24 hrs) right opposite the hotel. Breakfast was superb and would definitely choose Daiwa Roynet Hotels in next visits to Japan.

The location is not the most central, but it is right next to Wakayama Castle, which is a big plus. In the evening, it’s very pleasant to take a walk around the castle area — quiet, scenic, and relaxing. There are bus stops nearby, making it fairly convenient to get around, though buses do not run very frequently. It’s best to check the schedule on Google Maps in advance. On the ground floor, there is a 24-hour FamilyMart, which is very convenient. There is also a McDonald’s (closes at 8pm) and a few nearby restaurants, so food is not really a concern. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Check-out was quick and hassle-free. Overall, for the price I paid, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I would recommend it to travellers who don’t mind a quieter area and enjoy being close to Wakayama Castle.

The location of the Wakayama Daiwa Hotel is excellent, right across from Wakayama Castle. If you're staying in the autumn, I highly recommend spending half a day exploring the castle. The hotel's breakfast restaurant offers a scenic view. The hotel itself is very new, and the service is also great.

This was a very good hotel. It is right near the Wakayama castle. The hotel receptionist is very friendly.Everything is very clean. I enjoyed my stay here very much. It is a very comfortable hotel for those who come with children.

A heads-up to future guests: the rooms with a view offer both smoking and non-smoking options. If you dislike the smell of smoke, definitely avoid selecting a smoking room. The entire room was filled with an unbearable, lingering smoke smell. Furthermore, as it was Japan's Silver Week yesterday, we were unable to switch rooms, which significantly impacted our overall experience negatively. On the positive side, the view was excellent, offering a panoramic overlook of Wakayama Castle.

There are only a handful of top-rated hotels in Wakayama. I deliberated between this one and the one located at the JR station, ultimately choosing this hotel because of reviews mentioning Wakayama Castle views and a good breakfast, though I was slightly worried about transportation. My actual experience proved transport to be very convenient; a bus ride was just over ten minutes and dropped me off right at the hotel's doorstep. After checking in and going up to my room, I eagerly pulled back the curtains and was instantly thrilled to see Wakayama Castle, majestically framed by the twilight hills and a purple sky. The room was quite spacious, featuring a small sofa seating area by the window. There was ample space to open two suitcases without any issue. After a quick tidy-up, I couldn't wait to head out and explore. Though Wakayama Castle may not be as renowned as the four great ancient castles, its charm lies in its remarkably welcoming and accessible design. The path circling the castle walls is open to the public, and you can easily enter by crossing a small bridge over the moat. It was pleasant to see locals strolling and jogging around. After a half-lap exploration, I found the perfect spot for night photos and was extremely pleased with the view. Breakfast on the second day was served at a Japanese-Western fusion restaurant downstairs. The food selection was extensive, and the quality was excellent—truly impeccable. There's also a soba noodle shop within the building, which was delicious and reasonably priced. I had read reviews previously suggesting there weren't many dining options near the hotel, but actually, there are several restaurants and a convenience store right inside the building, which was fantastic. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay.

Great location, the hotel is right opposite the Wakayama castle, there are restaurants and family mart inside the hotel building. Breakfast was yummy.

I was initially hesitant to book a hotel a bit far from JR Wakayama Station. However, I found the transportation to be surprisingly convenient. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and you can reach JR Station in under ten minutes. The hotel is located directly across from Wakayama Castle, and our room offered a view of the castle. We were also lucky enough to catch a distant fireworks display from our room!

I booked a double room this time. While the room wasn't particularly spacious, it still came equipped with a sofa and a coffee table. What truly amazed me was the view of Wakayama Castle right outside the window – the hotel is literally just across the road from it! The hotel breakfast, served on the third floor, also boasted incredible views of Wakayama Castle, which was fantastic. I really appreciated the breakfast's blend of Japanese and Western styles. I even indulged in rice with pan-fried fish and miso soup first thing in the morning – it was absolutely delicious!

This was one of the more spacious rooms we've stayed in at a Daiwa Roynet Hotel in Japan. Its location is directly opposite Wakayama Castle, though it's a bit of a distance from the JR station. Due to a flight delay, we didn't arrive in Wakayama until past midnight, and with no more buses running, we ended up walking from the JR station to the hotel, which took us about 20 minutes. However, there's a bus stop right outside the hotel, making it quite convenient under normal circumstances. There's also a convenience store on the ground floor, and the building itself is relatively new. In the morning, you can enjoy views of Wakayama Castle right from your window as soon as you open the curtains. Overall, it's a very good option.

The breakfast at this hotel was such a delightful surprise! The variety was fantastic, offering both Western and Chinese options. All the ingredients were fresh and everything tasted delicious. You absolutely *must* try their French toast – it's slightly crispy on the outside, incredibly soft and fluffy on the inside, and perfectly sweetened when drizzled with maple syrup. The rich, milky flavor is divine – I fell in love with it after just one bite. The whole breakfast experience was a perfect start to my trip. Highly recommend it!
