Hotel is in a nice location however it could really do with a good tidy up, windows were dirty and the place could do with a deep clean. Rooms were ok but very noisy being on the road and you could hear every footstep from the room upstairs. Food wasn't great,not enough choice on the lunch and dinner menus and breakfast was very greasy and overcooked. This is by far the worse stay we have had in a Best Western.

I've been staying at Choice Hotels for many years; however, do yourself a favor: read the reviews and do your research before you book your stay/arrive. The rate I got was $75.00 per night (June 20th - 22nd; stayed only one night); I should have known that rate was too good to be true. Speaking only for our king room, I had to keep the a/c on 71 to keep the humidity down (which didn't quite work - it stayed humid the entire night); anything chrome/chrome plated was rusty; the microwave and fridge were dirty; the coffee pot hadn't been washed since who knows when; and the fan in the bathroom was filthy. We walked down the hill to the Waffle House (there is a Starbucks also). Choice Hotels website advertised breakfast (there isn't any; in fact, the lobby remains locked 24/7; they have a window to do business). Also advertised: laundry. The one washing machine and dryer are in the breezeway; the washer was out of order (I doubt if the dryer worked). Also located in this area is the ice machine, which didn't work either. It looked like there was a lot of equipment in the breezeway that was inoperable. I didn't check for bugs in the room because I was afraid I might find some. The amenities listed aren't available (especially if they are to be located in the lobby). It is also my opinion that the owners live on the premises; which is not really that unusual. Either that or there are a couple of special rooms that have window blinds. These rooms are located in the corner next to the main entrance. Parked outside these rooms were a Tesla, Audi and Maserati. There are some who don't mind these types of rooms. For me, this particular motel is off the list.

The rooms were large, well furnished and comfortable. Complimentary cooked to order breakfast in the morning and cocktails in the afternoon. Staff was very helpful, friendly and polite—always smiling. Walk across the street to the beach or eat or shop. Food was delicious . We LOVED it. . We will go back.

Clean hotel, bed was comfortable. No complaints about the room. The pool was nice, definitely more suitable for the kids since the deepest part was 5 ft but most the pool was only 3ft. Friendly staff, only downfall was the elevator. Only one working and it was very slow. Would stay again.

. The hotel feels like it was opened for a few months: well maintained.
. The morning cleaning crew were awesome: ”Yes” is their answer with a big smile.
. The breakfast staff were on top of everything.
. Front desk always greeting their patrons and answering any questions.
. The location is perfect: shopping stores, restaurants, and a little far from the hassle of the city.
. My suggestion is to add more options for non pork eaters : chicken sausage, turkey bacon, or even beef bacon...
. From now on, this will be my favorite place to stay at.

PPengguna TetamuI was traveling from Las Vegas to Orlando, FL over the course of 4 days when I encountered a major mechanical breakdown 8 miles from DeFuniak. After traveling 2000 miles through rain and snow, I was forced to bring the trip to an end. I wound up off the interstate at this Red Roof Inn and completely satisfied with the modern amenities, great air conditioning and heating and ice cold refrigerator. The manager was even gracious enough to help me load a trike onto a Uhaul auto dolly after I spent an hour attempting to load it alone without damaging the low hanging front bumper cover and undercarraige. It was nice to have a warm and quiet place to rest after a grueling trek across the United States. I was able to get home 8 homes later feeling refreshed.

**I want to preface this by saying I tried to talk to a manager several times about my issues, but none was ever available.** After staying at the Best Western in Defuniak Springs, I can absolutely say I would not stay there again nor would I recommend it. I stayed for two nights, a Friday and Saturday, and immediately upon arriving I realized I had made a mistake. It isn't often I will look for another room after I check in, especially since I could lose the night cost wherever I was, but to leave here I would have gone elsewhere had someplace had room. Overall, I would say this property is at least 25 years overdue for a top to bottom, inside out overhaul. It is tired and shows its age. Perhaps this is why management was nowhere to be found, and the staff seemed to be completely unaware of how to handle a guest concert. Below are details: THE GOOD: Lobby/Reception - Nothing. I can't say anything good about it. Room: - Despite everything you read below, the one good I noticed about the room was that even though I was in front of the pool, I never heard people outside. - The hallways to the rooms had a clean crisp smell. General: - The parking lot offers a nice place to run laps for exercise. THE BAD: Lobby/Reception/Staff - Lobby is locked at some point in the evening. There is no way in without being buzzed in by the front desk. No keycard access or anything. It is completely segregated. - Lobby is full of dark tones, way tired and out of date. - Front desk person who checked me in didn't check my ID or credit card. I actually handed her the card I wanted to use and was completely ignored. - Front desk is not constantly staffed. I waited 5 minutes to check out Sunday morning, and nobody was around. I ended up leaving the room key. - The only staff at night is the front desk person. Nobody to take care of or fix problems that arise - Front desk staff that was there when I checked in was completely unprepared for any issues from guests. - Despite advertising free breakfast, I was told it was a cost. - NO LUGGAGE CARTS!!!! This one was a major shocker. Room: - The room had a strong odor of **** in the entry. - The room was tired, dated, and worn. The room felt like it was getting smaller, closing in on you. It almost felt like being in a dungeon. - There is no light switch for the room itself, just a switch in the entry that lights up the entryway a little. At night, when I arrived, I had to use my phones flashlight to find other lights and see how to turn them on. - There is some sketchy electric work in the bathroom that was rigged at very best, fire hazard is more likely. If they ever had an actual city/county code inspection, I am pretty sure they'd fail. - The furniture was chipped, scraped, scuffed, and in very poor state of repair. - The walls were filthy. Gunk, Grime, stains, holes. - The door to the room was poorly fitted, light/noise/temperature get through it without issue. - Door does not auto close. If you don't close

Jjeffreyc807Upon arriving at this motel on Christmas Eve, I could immediately tell it was a bit dated. The lady at the front desk was very nice, (first impressions mean a lot to me!) I know hotel owners are really struggling during this terrible Covid crisis, so ”almost” decided to not leave a review, yet I think it's important for owners to know what their customers think of their experiences. The room was quite small. Two double beds scrunched in. Not pleased to find a few cockroaches crawling around. The hot water in the shower wasn't hot enough. This is the second location I've stayed at a Sleep Inn at and both motels don't have a ”dedicated” door (with a handle) for their tiny restrooms, rather a sliding door that's difficult to navigate. I was told by the front desk lady that due to Covid, there would be no maid service. Again,she was very friendly, and switched out dirty towels for clean no problem. Hopefully, once this pandemic is over with, motels like this will get back to making the necessary improvements to their properties. I'll close by saying ”you get what you pay for.” Though just expected a ”little” more for the $90 per night we paid for the 3 nights.
