Worst hotel stay of my very well travelled 44 years. Sleep in the hallway at Heathrow first. Sleep on a bench at the park. Heck, sleep on the plane. At least you won’t feel like you are in genuine danger. My experience so far: 1. False fire alarm at 1 am. People running screaming through the halls. Staff going door to door to wake people up. We met a fireman from the USA on our way out who told us that with no smoke and no fire anywhere it was obviously a false alarm. Two minutes later other guests confirmed this. 2. Within 2 minutes of our arrival, I went to use our restroom and the deadbolt - which I did not touch- managed to latch the bathroom door and catch. The bolt then broke - it just spun and spun but would not release. Luckily I had my phone. Less luckily there was no service in the bathroom and their Wi-Fi wasn’t working properly, so I had no way to call anyone for help. Luckily I was traveling with my husband, who tried to call the front desk. They didn’t answer. He had to go down to the lobby to get maintenance while I was literally trapped for about half an hour. What if I were a single traveler? What if it was the middle of the night? Good, what if it were during the false fire alarm when everyone was running around literally screaming and I couldn’t get out of the damn bathroom? 3. When I complained about literally spending half hour trapped in their bathroom, the manager offered me drink coupons. When I explained that a. I paid for club level so I already got free drinks and b. I do t drink, she explained that I could use them for a soda. 4. I spent a lot of time in that bathroom. I got to see how dirty it was. At least two ***** hairs and some dirt film in the bathtub. 5. Some rooms - top category, top price - look out into a hallway. 6. We requested twin beds for our two teenagers. They gave them a king. Easy fix, but said children for a view outside while we got the hallway view, then had to call service to separate the beds after a long day of traveling. There’s more, but it’s after 1 am and I have a 10 hour flight with a sick child in the morning. Excuse any typos, I’m exhausted and typing on my phone.
