I booked a full-size double suite over a month before our trip. We arrived to a single king-size room. We are a family of four. The front desk clerk told us that the (only) manager - yes, just one person manages this entire chain hotel - changed our reservation but did not call me to tell me. There were apparently no other rooms available. My wife and I slept on the bed while our sons tried to sleep on the thinnest mattress possible on a fold-out couch - which did not have sheets available in the room.
The room, by the way, had motion sensor lights - in the room. These lights would turn on in the middle of the night if you blinked too much. I had to go to the front desk, where the night clerk told me that the lights were going off because “we were moving”. We. Were. Moving. In. Our. Room. She gave me a sheet of paper to tape over the sensor.
Fortunately, we weren’t planning on using the indoor pool because the bottom had two feet of algae growing in it.
There was also the stains on the sheets and curtains that we told ourselves was just chocolate but was probably blood and the walls that were shredded.
And, for a non-smoking hotel, somebody was smoking. The central air circulated the smoke right in to our room.
