Honest bed and breakfast, with easy parking and a restaurant.

Just terrible 😔 firstly stuffy room with a dirty fan covered in dust. Had to clean it. Sink was blocked. No hot water on the shower but hot water on the bath. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working and was hanging off the ceiling, covered in dust. Toilet off the breakfast room was filthy in the morning with no toilet paper. £13 each for breakfast don't bother you would get better at greggs. Booked 2 nights only stayed 1 they did offer an upgrade but preferred to drive 2hr back home. Management need to check rooms before bookings rather than just winging it.... Completely clueless. Stayed for 2 nights in one of the refurbished rooms in the main building. Room was large, bright and airy with a comfortable bed and powerful shower. The room could have done with a couple of finishing touches - there was no headboard, no wastepaper bin and no plug sockets by the bed (accept that it's an old building and may not be possible). A welcome pack with info about the hotel and local attractions would also have been welcome. We had afternoon tea when we arrived as we had booked a package with Travelzoo, that was a nice selection of sandwiches and cakes. Breakfast was fine for what it was. On our first morning, we had to wait 15 mins for the bacon to be restocked and on the second morning, the eggs were cold. The bar area is nice and comfortable with leather sofas and chairs. From the front, the hotel looks lovely with neat gardens, but the other buildings look a bit shabby. I'm glad we were in the main building which is full of character and our room was lovely.

The staff here were working with what they have. This review is by no means a reflection on their professionalism. Normally, if I write a review, I usually wait a few days and remember to do it. Ive never written a review whilst still at a venue but, here we are, waiting for a time to leave that will allow us to get breakfast else where. We are exhausted from a lack of sleep from the most uncomfortable bed and the noise of guests stomping around in the room above. The stay started with an apology from the ‘manager’ over the smell of drains as he showed us the block our room was, tucked out the back of the kitchen with the bins. The manager explained the drains had been rodded but had no answer to my question as to why the entrance to my block was strewn with the remains of toilet paper from the drain. To apologise, he gave us the first drinks free. Now a hotel can not be held responsible for the characters you get as guests and there was an eclectic mix, probably including us. This made it refreshing and added to the disappointment of our stay. Dinner was a massive let down. Steak was not bad but the fish was pappy with soggy batter. When questioned, the manager told me it’s all local produce from Brakes Food, based in Cardiff. Still, as an apology, he bought me a drink. Rooms were basic, I plumped for the Superior double which had the most uncomfortable mattress you ever had the misfortune to lay on. Pillows were, well, easier to say what they weren’t, comfortable. Not a single pillow was the same or plump. I’ve had sandwich’s thicker than two of them. All in all, if you’re on a budget and working local, deaf and not particularly hungry then this establishment could be considered.

How this hotel obtains positive reviews, I have no idea. We were first shown to a small room you could not swing a cat in. Totally blank white walls, no head board to the bed. Toilet rolls so thin you would not want to use it, with a toilet seat so thin you could literally bend it. The room had no chair and one full length mirror leaning into a small corner of the entrance leaving no area to complete a make session comfortably. After making our comments to a staff member we were shown to a larger room with improved facilities. Even then it was faded , jaded and in need of a complete redec. As was the whole of the hotel. Cobwebs adorned the light fittings in the dining area complete with captured flies. The breakfast was self service, as long as you were prepared to wait for the delivery of the breakfast fare. Quality of food just about adequate. Overall a disappointing experience.

Disappointing 3 nights stay. The room we stayed in was in a building in the grounds and was not great. Neither of us slept well on an uncomfortable double bed. Our wardrobe had two sliding doors, neither of which worked properly. Bathroom was outdated and the shower didn't work. Food was adequate only.

had a lovely afternoon tea served by Matthew who was courtious and gave the best service you could ask and he made sure we had everything we needed while in his care in the lovely glass house,We asked for the chefs name which Matthew gave I think the name was Ratna who made the wonderful food the scones were to die for would recommend coming again for them. We then asked Matthew what there was to do around Wootton Bassett as we wanted to see some sites and he mentioned Coate Water, The Reme Museum, The steam Museum and a walk around Jubilee lake he then got out his phone and used google maps to show us exactly where to go which I think is great service.

This although states a three star is not, The rooms are tired and scruffy, unbearably hot, there are no therastatic valves on the rads, so when we asked for them to be turned down a guy arrived with a pair of pliers and hammer! Beware we had no pillow protectors on the very flat tired pillows. No wi-fi in the rooms. All in all a very unpleasent stay and would certainly not recommend.

We booked a one night stay and were less than impressed. The room was in very poor state, no headboard on the bed, bath panel severely water damaged, the toilet wouldn’t flush and was leaking. There was mould and paint spray all over the door handles etc. We kindly asked if they could move us to a different room, and waited in the bar area for an hour whilst they prepared one. The bar was under stocked and the lounge area was dirty. There was only one member of staff checking everyone in, running the bar and serving in the restaurant, which led to very slow and poor service. When we were shown to the second room, it was in the same condition and also had two empty plastic bottles on the floor from the previous guests! . We didn’t want to stay and checked out 2 hours after arriving. Would definitely not recommend. Such a shame because the building itself is lovely and it could be a nice hotel with some decent renovation work.
