Really cool experience

The room is small, very warm, well-equipped, and the food is very good. The service is also warm. The key point is that the scenery is unparalleled and has a panoramic view of the Matterhorn. It coincides with Valentine's Day and has a special layout and atmosphere. Millions of people come here every year and almost no altitude sickness. I am an exception and have a headache. It is especially recommended to ski enthusiasts as a paradise for skiing. People from the motherland come here. Many fathers from Shanghai bring their sons to ski, honeymooners and tourists.

The front desk manager of this hotel, Thomas Marvbach, has a very serious integrity problem. I booked a relatively large room of 18 square meters with two windows, but he arranged a small room of 14 square meters for me when I checked in. When I checked in, I reminded him that I booked a large room, but he gave me a small room, and he told me that all rooms are the same size. I stayed for 4 nights, and only found out on the last day that he lied and gave me the wrong room. This situation is really too much! ! Can Ctrip give me a satisfactory answer to this?

The train was stopped due to strong winds, so there was no access to the hotel. The hotel quickly emailed me with suggestions for alternative hotels. I was able to stay at a partner hotel for the same price. However, the alternative hotel plan was cheaper than the room I paid for, so I am not satisfied with the price. We couldn't do anything about the weather, but I'm glad they responded quickly. It seems that trains sometimes stop due to weather. The hotel can only be reached by train from Zermatt.

The hotel at 3100 meters is indeed extraordinary. The dinner was a bit unpalatable, but the breakfast was very good. More importantly, you can see the night view of the Matterhorn and the beginning of the day. It is really worth the price.

The sunrise and sunset on the top of the mountain are amazing. Looking at the starry sky and the Milky Way on the top of the mountain in the middle of the night is amazing. The dinner provided by the hotel is also very delicious, and the breakfast variety is also quite rich. I want to come next time

Don't go up the mountain in one breath, you will have some altitude sickness

The location and service of this hotel are excellent, but I felt sick all the time because I had altitude sickness. The weather was bad, so it may be because of that, but I think that those who are even slightly at risk of altitude sickness need to be careful. However, I thought that it was worth coming with the superb view that I could see from the room at dawn. It was a really nice view.

If you open the window, you can feel the majesty of the Matterhorn spreading out in front of you! And if you go out in front of the hotel at night, it is really beautiful to see countless stars and the Milky Way! Come and stay at the hotel! And dinner and breakfast are well organized and delicious!

My wife have grown quite fond of mountaintop lodgings for our ski holidays and they don’t come much more emblematic than 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat. Perched atop a peak facing the iconic Matterhorn, it exemplifies the panoramic views and towering location that we adore. Make no mistake, despite my issues raised below, this is a truly magical property. But it isn’t cheap and it comes with a number of limitations that you should be aware of marooned in the middle of nowhere. • COMFORTABLE ROOMS WITH STUNNING VIEWS – Especially the Matterhorn view rooms where the image of this iconic promontory fills your window. • NICELY PRESENTED FOOD – Not quite gourmet, but a clever effort to dress it up with alluring ingredients and garnishes. But the food is tasty and the portions are ample. HINT - GETTING THERE IS VERY COMPLICATED – Do not just put the hotel in your satnav as it will not be able to help you and you will hit lot of problems. Here is a step-by-step guide to getting there: • AVOID THE CAR-TRAIN: The satnavs will give you the fastest route that takes you on a route where you load your car onto a train to be transported through a shortcut tunnel, BUT that train runs very irregularly. So you end of up waiting an hour for a train that saves you 30 minutes of driving time. • GO TO TASCH, SWITZERLAND: Tasch is where you park your car. In fact, I think that the town’s sole purpose in life is to be a giant parking lot for Zermatt. You see Zermatt itself is CAR FREE. So you have to park in Tasch and take a 12 minute shuttle train into Zermatt. I recommend the underground parking lot just to the left of the train station (facing it) which had reasonable prices (12 euros/day), plenty of spaces, but most importantly was the shortest walk to the station (very important when lugging luggage full of ski equipment). • RENT SKI GEAR AT BAYARD – Unlike most ski resorts, the ski rental shops are not obvious. We had to ask to find one. Several people recommended Bayard and they gave us great service. Most importantly, they are on the block adjacent to the train station again minimizing lugging distance. LIMITATIONS - It is a stunning, bucket-list worthy property, but its pricey rack-rates also command a bit of discernment… • OBSERVATORY NOT AVAILABLE – When you read about the place, one of the first things that gets mentioned is its observatory heritage which includes still operational telescopes available for public use. HOWEVER, the observatory is run by a separate company and viewings are only available by prior and separate arrangements. This situation could be better communicated and coordinated. • LOUNGE NOT AVAILABLE – Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t yet have a common area lounge where you can relax and have drink. You can go down to the dining room and sit at one of the tables with the view of the Matterhorn, but nothing more comfortable. So it is either a table or your room. I was there for a weekend with my fiancée. The hotel is located in an incredible place. The rooms are clean and comfy. The restaurant are have a good service. Location allows for great walks around and stunning views. Highly recommended for a lovely weekend !

I decided to come to the Kulm 3100 as a special treat while returning after 24 years for a visit from Canada. I had been to Zermatt a few times before in the 90’s when I had lived in Switzerland. This visit was beyond my expectations. It was a stunning, breathtaking experience. I paid the extra for a room with the view of the Matterhorn and glad I did. My room was a little small (normal for European standards), but modern and tastefully decorated. Each room was named after one of the mountains over 4000 meters in the area. A description and story of the dedicated mountain was posted in the room. Dinner and breakfast which was included in the price was beautifully presented and each course delicious. The waiter that served me was friendly and attentive. He went out of his way to give me a generous ice pack for my cooler of snacks on my departure. I awoke early in the morning to see the sun rising over the alps which was a breathtaking experience. Such peacefulness in the vast nature of the alps and the feeling of being on top of the world was truly magical. The newly built “Zoom” building which was nearby was an added treat which was included with the hotel. The virtual experience flying around the Matterhorn was epic. I was truly grateful and glad to have had this wonderful experience of a lifetime.

Staying the night here was a night we will never forget. We had a suite which had the most incredible views - it actually stole my breath away. Totally incredible! The meal we had was exceptional. If you are thinking of staying here don’t delay, it was a night I will never forget.
