Autumn comes to Aso
Cao Qianli has changed from green grassland to golden grassland
In addition to riding horses, you can experience riding in Cao Qianli
If you're lucky, you can also see the smoking Aso volcano in the distance, which is very interesting.
The souvenir shop next to the parking lot is also very easy to browse! There are many local Aso souvenirs, sweets and handmade items.
There is also Sosenri Coffee next to it to replenish caffeine~
After leaving Kussenri, head to Aso Crater
It's a pity that because of the frequent volcanic activity today, I can only take pictures in Prospect Park.
There is also a shrine on Mount Aso where you can visit.
We held a meeting along the way down the mountain and passed Yonezuka Observation Area.
There is no special sign here, it is a small open space where you can park.
The view is very good. If you drive by yourself, you can also enjoy the rice mounds from different angles along the way.
In addition, there are several specialty restaurants at the foot of Mount Aso.
This time I went to Takamori Tenaku. It is a traditional Tenaku (somewhat similar to Robatayaki) and it is also worth experiencing.
The atmosphere of Aso is completely different in different seasons
I really like the golden grassland in autumn
It is recommended that everyone visiting in autumn can arrange a day trip to walk around!

Autumn is your chance! See the sea of clouds at Daikanbo
#Roadtrip
A fresh photo taken on November 4th! I went to see the sea of clouds at Daikanbo in Aso♪ The sea of clouds in Aso has a big temperature difference between morning and evening, so it is said to be easiest to see in autumn. Now is the time!!
The conditions are a temperature difference between morning and evening, humidity, and rain the day before, but even if all of these conditions are met, it may not appear. The conditions on the day I went were as follows. ◾️Time when I saw the sea of clouds: around 7am⭐︎Weather: sunny⭐︎Temperature: 8 degrees⭐︎Humidity: 95%⭐︎Maximum temperature of the day: 22 degreesTemperature difference: 14 degrees◾️Heavy rain two days ago◾️I could see the morning mist from the flat ground of the hotel near Aso Station where I was staying!
It seems that many people predicted that the sea of clouds would appear the next day due to the heavy rain two days ago, but the temperature rose due to the rain, and the high temperature in the morning meant that the sea of clouds did not appear. It seems that the sea of clouds appears depending on luck, but please refer to the conditions on the day I went ♪
The driving course to Daikanbo is also scenic and amazing.
📍Daikanbo Observatory 2090-8 Yamada, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture, 869-2313 8 hours: 24 hours Points to see the sea of clouds 📝The sea of clouds is from 6:30 to around 8:00, so try to reach the summit by then 📝If you want to see the sunrise, arrive by around 6:00 📝Check the temperature difference between morning and evening 📝Stay at a hotel near Daikanbo (so you can go as soon as the morning mist appears) I stayed at Fairfield Aso on the Aso Station side. 🚗A hotel about 20 minutes by car to the summit.

Kingfisher Train on Kyushu Island Kawasemi-Yamasemi
🚄Kawasemi-Yamasemi⛩️Kawasemi - Yamasemi
Another tourist train in Kyushu, which has only 2 cars. The Kawasemi car will be a blue kingfisher.
The Yamasemi car will be a green kingfisher, which are 2 species of kingfisher that fly to feed above the Kamakura River. Therefore, this train is like a bird flying along the Kamakura line.
This train will run back and forth between Kamakura Station and Hitoyoshi Station. It will also pass through Aso station. For those who plan to visit Mount Aso, if you organize it well, you can take the special tourist train. Mostly, this train is the train that tourists choose to use after returning to Mount Aso.
The interior decoration is very beautiful. It is decorated in a very Japanese style. There are many types of seats. It depends on what you book. Don't miss the deep postcards from this train.
♥️ It is recommended to book online in advance. This train is another one that fills up very quickly♥️
🧳Travel🧳
Take the JR train to Kumamoto station and choose the time that matches the Kawasemi-Yamasemi line. Get off at Aso station or sit at the end of the line. Or you can take the return trip from Aso station to Kumamoto station.

Mount Aso
This is the place that I have always wanted to come, just 2 or 3 hours away from my city Fukuoka.
Unfortunately this time, the mountain was covered with lot of volcanic ash but still the air was so fresh on the top and the landscape was amazing.
If you ever have a chance to visit Kumamoto or Kyushu island, I would really recommend here. And say hi to the cute cows as well:)
The Japanese "Tsuruya Ryokan" is an extremely delightful countryside inn~ 🏨🌳
The Heiwa Ryokan is one of the hotels I recommend during my Kyushu trip 💜.
It is an old-fashioned hotel with natural scenery, located in a rural area, which is relatively quiet~.
I should say that Aso is a place with few people and beautiful scenery. We stayed here for two days, and it was very comfortable~.
We came in December, and maybe because it was the off-season, there were fewer people staying. The hotel has a parking lot at the entrance, which is convenient for self-driving. The staff is very enthusiastic. When we entered, they took us to the lobby to check-in and even brought us snacks~.
We booked a standard room with breakfast for $1100 per night. Although the room is relatively old-fashioned, everything is complete, and the heating is sufficient. When checking in, you can also make an appointment with the staff to soak in a private hot spring. There are fewer restaurants near the hotel, and you need to walk for more than ten minutes to dine outside for dinner~.
The sky here is very clean, and you can see stars all over the sky at night. I really like this kind of rural life in Japan~.
The next day, the staff prepared breakfast and knocked on our door to notify us. I have to say that the breakfast is really rich and of high quality~.
There is even a foot warmer under the table for us to warm our feet. It's really thoughtful~.

I've always wanted to go to Yamabuki Spring🌿
Walking along the mountain path while listening to the chirps of birds, I entered a mysterious world
The water that springs out at 30 tons per minute is very clear and really beautiful✨✨
The reflection of the water's surface is impressive✨
It has been selected as one of the 100 best waters in Kumamoto.
I visited in early September, but the leaves around the parking lot had started to turn red.

[Aso] I found my favorite horse meat! Asahi-ya
Asahi-ya is a restaurant I visited on my trip to Aso.
They serve horse meat sashimi, a specialty of Aso, at reasonable prices.
Not only do they have four types of horse meat sashimi - lean, lean meat top, special selection, and finest - you can also buy various parts such as mane and yukhoe!
The taste is also guaranteed!!! Even though it is lean meat, it is as delicious as the special selection at other stores, and the finest meat was so soft and high quality that the fat melted with body heat when I defrosted it a little and cut it😆
Per 100g (tax included)
Lean meat 1,026 yen
Lean meat top 1,242 yen
Special selection 1,620 yen
Fine 1,944 yen

A Marriott hotel in Aso with a great location and good value for money
#AccommodationTravelRecord
On the first day of my trip to Aso, I stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Aso Kumamoto. The reason I chose this hotel was because of its location. On the second day, I wanted to go to either Daikanbo or Kusasenri early in the morning, so I chose this hotel because it was only a 20-minute drive from both. The price was also reasonable, starting at 15,000 yen per night for two people. I stayed for free with Marriott points, but with hotel prices going up these days, this price is appreciated for Marriott. Another plus point is that you can see Mt. Aso from the room! There is a free drink bar in the lobby, and they also have coffee, cafe latte, tea, and instant miso soup! The instant miso soup was surprisingly delicious, so I drank about three bowls 😂 The location was also quite good, with a roadside station and hot springs next door, and restaurants and ramen shops within a 5-minute walk. For dinner, I went to Coffee Plaza East, which was a 5-minute walk away. It had a pure coffee shop atmosphere, but it was a set meal restaurant that served local cuisine. It was really delicious. My husband had red beef bowl, and I had red beef hamburger! It's not a stylish place, but the food is delicious and I highly recommend it! Aso in Kumamoto
I've always been fascinated by volcanoes and have a deep curiosity about them. After watching Suzume, my understanding of natural disasters has deepened even further.
Coming to Kumamoto, a place rich in natural ecology, I couldn't miss the chance to visit. While Mount Fuji is well-known to everyone, Mount Aso should not be overlooked. Located in the center of Kyushu, Mount Aso is a very active volcano 🌋, where you can see thick white smoke billowing from the crater up close.
Whether locals or tourists, the number of visitors keeps increasing. It's so crowded that you can see cars lined up waiting for parking spaces from a distance, and the flow of people keeps growing, showing the irresistible charm of Mount Aso.
To get to Mount Aso, you can choose the Aso Volcano One-Day Pass (¥1,500) or join a local day tour, allowing you to enjoy the trip without any worries.
Despite the strong winds, the rare blue sky and white clouds, and the gentle sunlight, I hiked all the way to the top. Watching the thick smoke rising from the crater, feeling the breeze, and seeing tourists riding horses on the grasslands, I wished time could stop at this very moment, even though the world is just a fleeting cloud of smoke.
A Day in Aso
Mount Aso in Kumamoto is an active volcano. When the alert level is below level 2, you can get up close to the Nakadake Crater to admire the volcano. If a level 2 alert is issued, you can only view the billowing smoke from a distance at Kusasenri.
However, the scenery at Kusasenri is magnificent and is considered the most beautiful area on Mount Aso. Each season offers different stunning views, making a visit to Kusasenri worthwhile even if you can't reach the crater. Photography enthusiasts can capture many great shots, and visitors can enjoy leisurely horseback riding or local delicacies such as Akaushi beef and Aso fresh milk. Additionally, there is a volcano museum to explore.
For transportation, take the JR train from Kumamoto Station to Aso Station, which takes about an hour and twenty minutes. The most famous sightseeing train is the Aso Boy, a black train featuring the mascot dog Kuro, whose images are found throughout the train. The train also has a children's play area, a library, and a café, making it popular with families. After arriving at Aso Station, transfer to a bus to reach the Aso Mountain Plaza, which is the Kusasenri area. If conditions allow for visiting the crater, take a shuttle bus to the Nakadake Crater.
After enjoying Kusasenri, before taking the JR back to Kumamoto, you can visit Aso Shrine by taking a train to Miyaji Station and then walking to the Aso Monzenmachi shopping street. This area is famous for its clear springs, and you can find many drinkable water sources while strolling and exploring the street, adding to the fun.
🕰️Aso Shrine Hours: 09:00-17:00
Embracing Nature at Aso
Kumamoto is renowned for its natural scenery, and this time I specifically came to Mount Aso because I have always loved natural landscapes. Every time you reach the summit and look at the scenery below, feeling the gentle breeze, it brings a special sense of comfort and relief, making the world pause for a moment. Therefore, whenever I visit different places, I always make sure to take in the local scenic features.
There are quite a few volcanoes standing in Japan today, with the most famous being Mount Fuji 🌋. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, and Mount Fuji was covered by thick clouds. So, when I planned my next volcano visit, I chose Aso. It was my first time witnessing Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture. The vast grasslands immediately made me feel relaxed and free, away from the hustle and bustle, healing both body and soul. This must be the power of nature.
A Town You'll Definitely Want to Visit Again: Aso, Kumamoto.
Hello! I'm Yuzu, a perpetually broke student who loves nature! 💝
This time, I'll introduce some wonderful spots in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture, where you can relax for free.
The Charm of Aso
Aso City is a nature-rich place surrounded by majestic mountains and vast grasslands. The scenery of Mount Aso is particularly breathtaking, and on clear days, its beauty is truly refreshing. There are many spots you can enjoy for free, such as the 'Aso Panorama Line,' which is perfect for scenic drives with stunning mountain views.
At Kusasenrigahama, you can spend a leisurely time on the expansive grasslands or enjoy interacting with horses. The local markets offer delicious regional specialties, and there are plenty of hot springs to refresh both your mind and body.

Japan - Mount Aso
Breath taking scenery at Mount Aso. Mountains were covered with grass golden in color and some in white with frozen water droplets on the leaves. The pond was also frozen with a thin layer of ice. U can actually hear n see the ice crack when u walk on it ! If u are driving it’s relaxing and easy drive with stunning views along the way. There are also a few scenic stops along the way ! Overall a 5/5 must go attraction 👍🏻

🌈Kyushu Aso Mountain: A miniature shrine hidden on the side of a long stone staircase. The first time you see it, it feels like you've stepped into the dreamy scenes of "Hotarubi no Mori e" and "Natsume's Book of Friends". It's far from the hustle and bustle, quiet and beautiful, and hard to believe.
🌈Tanigawa-dake: The mountains are steep and the terrain is varied. It's not far from Tokyo and is the ideal place for those seeking the ultimate hiking experience. For safety reasons, beginners are recommended to choose the beginner route.
🌈Aomori Oirase Gorge: A real-life green fairyland, like a poem or a painting. Take a 14 km walk and be sure to visit the magnificent Choshi Falls upstream and the turbulent Asura Flow downstream. Don't miss it.

Choose from four ancient routes and follow one of the only two remaining pilgrimage routes in the world to the revered Kumano Sanzan (Kumano Nachi Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, Kumano Hongu Taisha).
