A private hot spring experience is a must for autumn in Gubei Water Town.

A private hot spring experience is a must for autumn in Gubei Water Town. 🍂🍁 I came to Gubei Water Town to enjoy the autumn leaves and chose Alumroot, a private hot spring B&B a 20-minute drive away. The overall experience was quite good, and I would recommend it. ♨️🧖🏻‍♀️ The main feature is a private garden hot spring that isn't cold. There's underfloor heating, air conditioning, and a small heater. The private hot spring is also kept at a constant temperature and can be enjoyed at any time. Compared to the outdoor private hot spring I experienced last year, this was much better, and the room was huge! 👌🏻👏 Other aspects of the experience were also quite good. As soon as I entered the B&B, there were many cute kittens. There's a chill little garden in the center of the courtyard. Upon entering the room, there was warm white fungus soup in a small thermos. Listening to music on the Marshall speaker while soaking in the hot spring was delightful. The bed was very large and soft, and the TV had screen mirroring capabilities. It was a pleasant experience. 🙅‍♀️🤔 However, for a room costing 1,400 a night, the toilet wasn't smart, felt a bit cheap, and was cold to sit on. The toiletries were unfamiliar and felt a bit subpar. The price is still a bit high! ⛰️🅿️ There's free parking at the entrance. They also gave me a ticket to climb the Wild Great Wall. I saw no more than five people from start to finish, so it's definitely off the beaten path. With yellow leaves, a 20-minute climb reveals the ancient Great Wall, quickly giving you a sense of "looking down upon the myriad mountains" and "a drop in the ocean." 🏞️🍂 The next day, I went to Gubei Water Town. The weather cleared up, and it was beautiful, but it felt very commercial and crowded. There are places to spend money everywhere, lacking depth and cultural heritage. The 140 RMB entrance fee isn't really worth it. Even a Häagen-Dazs at the Lawson's near the entrance costs 17 RMB. It's really too expensive. The most worthwhile attraction is the Cloud Cafe, which has an excellent photo spot, but the climb is a bit tiring, so wear comfortable shoes. In the afternoon, the sound of the pipa drifts up from below. Looking out over the entire water town, it does have a unique charm. It's truly a delicate sight in the rugged north. However, I recommend arriving at Gubei Water Town around 11:00 am and leaving around 4:00 pm. The return trip to Beijing can be delayed by at least 40 minutes, and the overall scenery isn't that worth exploring.
