Longmen Ancient Town, the hometown of Sun Quan, the founder of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period

Longmen Ancient Town is located at the foot of Longmen Mountain by the Fuchun River. The mountain behind the ancient town, Longmen Mountain, has an altitude of 1067 meters. The top of the mountain is shrouded in clouds and mist, presenting a myriad of weather phenomena, making it the highest peak in the Fuyang mountain range. Yan Ziling, a famous scholar of the Eastern Han Dynasty, once visited Longmen and, upon observing the extraordinary mountain scenery, exclaimed: "This place has clear mountains and beautiful waters, surpassing even the Longmen of Lüliang." Thus, the ancient town was named after it. "Longmen" is the hometown of Sun Quan, the founder of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. Therefore, Longmen Ancient Town is not only a geographical concept but also a historical and cultural concept with profound cultural heritage. Over 90% of the villagers in Longmen are descendants of the family of Sun Quan, the Great Emperor of Eastern Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. According to the family genealogy, from Sun Quan in the Three Kingdoms period to the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), the Sun family has proliferated to the 65th generation. Over thousands of years, through the construction by various branches over generations, what started as a settlement for a large family has developed into today's ancient town. The architecture of the ancient town centers around two ancestral halls of the Sun family, with over 40 Sun family halls built in total. The houses and corridors in the town are interconnected, and the long streets and winding alleys are seamlessly connected. The villagers of Longmen build their homes by the stream and live along it, maintaining simple and honest customs. The ancient residences from the Ming and Qing Dynasties are built along the stream, arranged in an orderly manner, resembling a vivid landscape painting of Jiangnan residential architecture.
