The Gengdu Family Residence in Longmen Ancient Town, Hangzhou, Zhejiang

Built in the Ming Dynasty, the Gengdu Family Residence faces south and features a brick and wood structure with a hard mountain roof. It consists of a gatehouse, courtyard, and main hall, covering an area of 187.58 square meters. The gatehouse has a single-sloped roof extending into a corridor with a simple structure and a stone gate. Entering through the gate leads to a courtyard paved with bluestone and pebbles. The main hall has three bays with an attached room, featuring five-frame beams in the central bay and a mixed beam-lifting and beam-frame structure in the secondary bays. The beams and columns are made of high-quality materials, and the structure is simple and elegant. A corridor slightly lower than the main hall runs in front, with a dragon-bone-style shed roof. The corbel brackets and Dougong are simple and elegant, decorated with cloud and dragon patterns. Behind the main hall's back wall is a retiring room. Originally, there was another courtyard and a rear hall behind the retiring room, but they are now in ruins. A flagpole stone remains in the rear courtyard. The well-preserved building is simple and elegant, holding significant value for studying the cultural heritage of ancient towns and the construction methods of traditional halls. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Zhejiang Province.
