Hongji Bridge: A Historical Landmark

#favouriteitinerary Hongji Bridge is one of the three most famous stone bridges in the ancient town. The exact date of its original construction is now unknown, but historical records from the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty mention it. In the 10th year of the Jiaqing period during the Qing Dynasty, the stone bridge was rebuilt. During the Republic of China period, the Nationalist army destroyed the bridge deck to prevent Japanese invaders from advancing into Huzhou. It was later repaired and restored as a single-arch stone bridge. Personal Opinion: In my opinion, Hongji Bridge stands as a testament to the resilience and historical significance of the region. Its rich history, marked by reconstruction and restoration, adds depth and character to this iconic landmark.
