“Chan She Shu Yuen: A Timeless Legacy”

Established in 1896 by prominent figures such as Chan Sow Lin, Chan Xin Xi, Chan Chun, and Chan Tin, it serves as a clan association for individuals bearing the surnames Chan, Chen, or Tan, providing support to new immigrants and fostering community ties.  Constructed between 1899 and 1906, the building’s design mirrors the traditional Chinese Baroque style, with all materials and craftsmen imported from southern China. The architecture features intricate carvings in wood, limestone, and stone, as well as curved ceramic glazed tiles adorned with Chinese motifs, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Chan clan.
