Who would have thought that I would be browsing a vegetable market in Malta. Every Sunday, there is a famous fish market in Malta - Marsaxlokk, located on the southeast side of Malta Island. 🟧Background As early as BC, this place was already used by the Phoenicians and later the Romans. Now, this bay is filled with brightly colored traditional Maltese fishing boats—Luzzu, painted in a rainbow of colors, becoming a unique scenery of the fish market. And just like the locals, I came here early in the morning to browse the fish market. The fish market is not as big and fishy as I imagined, it's just a street by the sea. Many locals come here early on Sundays to buy freshly caught fish. Looking at the prices, they are really cheap! A whole sea fish for a few euros, and even large black tiger prawns are only a few euros per kilogram. It's a pity that our hotel does not have a kitchen, otherwise, we could really buy some and cook ourselves. Although it's a fish market, it feels more like a small commodity market. In addition to seafood, there are also vegetables, fruits, alcohol, clothing, and various other types of stalls. All kinds of small commodities are available. I also bought a fridge magnet and a ceramic placemat here. Even though we couldn't cook for ourselves, there are many restaurants around the fish market that use local seafood as their main ingredient. We also tasted one of the most delicious seafood feasts in Malta here.
