To avoid the crowds during my cafe exploration, I made the tough decision to get up early and head to France Bakery Cafe right when it opened. To my surprise, the place was completely empty! The baristas hadn't even started their shift yet, the coffee machine was just warming up, and only one tray of freshly baked bread was out. With no experience and trying to play it cool, I awkwardly ordered a hot Americano, probably leaving the manager wondering what I was doing there at 8:30 AM on a cold winter morning. I was drawn to this cafe by its design (a semi-industrial retro style) and the highly praised baked goods online. The location, as described by netizens, is in a business district with a contrasting vibe (though it felt more like a residential area to me). This unique setting made its facade stand out even more. But today was just too cold, so I moved from the drafty floor-to-ceiling windows to the bakery section. Just then, more bread came out of the oven! I ordered a loaded toast (forgot the name), and it was unexpectedly delicious! The manager mentioned that the baristas start their shift at 12:30 PM, so I'll come back to try the coffee and different baked goods next time. The only thing that could be improved is the design and quality of the customer tables and chairs.
