✅A long time ago, I read about Jinci in the textbook and yearned for it. ✅I had been to Taiyuan before, but I had not had the chance to visit Jinci. Some say that if you haven't been to Jinci, you haven't truly been to Taiyuan. ✅This time, I finally had the opportunity to visit Jinci. ❤Recommended Reason: ✅Jinci, originally named Tang Shuyu Temple, was built to commemorate Tang Shuyu, the founding marquis of the Jin State (later posthumously titled King of Jin), and his mother, Yi Jiang. 🌟Highlights: ✅Jinci is the earliest existing royal ancestral garden in China. The Sacrificial Hall, Fish Pond Flying Bridge, and Sacred Mother Hall are known as the 'Three Treasures', while the Nanlao Spring, Maid Statues, and Zhou Cypress are known as the 'Three Wonders of Jinci'. One of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci', the Zhou Cypress, was planted during the Zhou Dynasty and is still flourishing today, located just north of the Sacred Mother Hall. The second of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci' is the sculptures in the Sacred Mother Hall (Maid Statues). There are over 40 painted sculptures of attendants in the east and west wings of the Sacred Mother Hall, most of which are original sculptures from the early Song Dynasty. The Sacred Mother, in the center of the hall behind a curtain, wears a phoenix crown and has a serene and kind expression, while the attendants each have their own roles, identities, and unique personalities. The third of the 'Three Wonders of Jinci' is the Nanlao Spring, which emerges from a fractured rock layer and flows year-round. Above the spring is a pavilion, with a plaque inscribed with the words 'Nanlao Spring' by the Qing Dynasty scholar Fu Shan (Fu Qingzhu from 'Seven Swordsmen of Mount Heaven'). 📝Tips: As the earliest existing classical ancestral garden architecture group in China, Jinci is definitely worth a good look.
