I needed a place to stay for 1 night. This place was cheap and appeared comparable to all of the hotels in Price, Utah with the exception of the Price Holiday Inn Express. (Most hotels in Price were listed at $70-$110 a night. The Holiday Inn Express was $250 a night.) Do not stay at this motel! The National 9 is simply gross. It is aged and needs a ton of money dumped back into it, if it were to be renovated. It is a dingy, old motel. As we tried to settle into the room, my elementary age daughter pointed out there was a large stain on one of the comforters. I brushed it off, reminding myself of my other hotel options & that I didn’t want to pay 200+ dollars for a single night. Then I noticed more stains on the bed skirt and several stains on the other comforter. (We had two queen beds.). The lighting was dim and as I turned on the wall lamps the floor was visibly dirty and the edges around furniture were discolored with dust and dirt. The sink dripped, but appeared to be clean. The tub also continuously dripped. The toilet was also constantly filling & swirling. This is disturbing because the west is in a drought people!! I tried to reason with myself by telling myself the towels & bedding were white and had been laundered. After all, I didn’t need to be a prima Donna and I could tough this out for one night. Too bad it gets worse… My daughter climbed into the white sheets and immediately jumped back out of bed. There was a little black bug on the pillow! I was just about to dismiss it when I noticed a tinier black bug crawling in the sheets of the other bed! We are not camping - I draw the line at bugs! I grabbed my two children and sent them out to the car while I gathered all of our belongings. (Thankfully, the bugs did not look like any bed bugs images I found on the internet!!) I acknowledge the person working the front desk did refund my money & apologized for the condition of the room. That is the lone shining star of this motel. Luckily, we ended up with the very last room at The Holiday Inn Express. I am still not crazy for the cost increase - But, in Price, Utah you get what you pay for when it comes to hotels. The Holiday Inn Express delivered. It was clean, smelled new, had clean & cream carpet in the rooms, comfortable beds and a good selection of hot & cold breakfast foods. I’ve attached pictures.
