Room was spacious, with a nice view on the mountains, the train station nearby was not giving too much noise. Very comfortable bed. We enjoyed chicken burger in the evening and breakfast with fruits, home made jams, good bread and eggs. It's fantastic that handicap people get opportunity here to integrate. Staff was very helpful and friendly with kids. We would chose again Boutique Hotel for our stay in Martigny.

Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche in der Alpenlodge verbracht. Die Zimmer sind wunderschön und mit sehr viel Liebe eingerichtet. Wunderbare Betten, traumhafte Aussicht auf Zermatt und das Matterhorn von den meisten Zimmern aus. Viel Stauraum, schönes Badezimmer, gemütliche Einrichtung und alles sehr gut gepflegt und sehr sauber. Die Lobby mit Kamin ladet zum Verweilen ein und der Spa mit Sauna und Dampfbad ist dank der Grösse der Alpenlodge auch in der Hochsaison nicht überlaufen. Obwohl die Alpenlodge etwas oberhalb von Zermatt liegt, ist das Zentrum zu Fuss leicht zu erreichen und man ist auch schnell zu Fuss bei der Sunnegga Bahn. Das Frühstück ist grosszügig und mit vielseitig. Besonders zu erwähnen ist auch die Familie, die das Hotel führt und ihr ganzes Team. Alle sind unglaublich aufmerksam und äusserst liebevoll. Im eher teuren Zermatt ist das Alpenlodge mit den vernünftigen Preisen ein wahres Juwel. Wir können die Alpenlodge zu 100% weiter empfehlen und danken dem ganzen Team für den wunderschönen Aufenthalt.

The hotel appears to be on a savings spree, with little attention paid to maintaining a guest experience worthy of a 4*S venue. The proportion of staff with little to no experience has increased to levels where a 3* hotel experience is barely justifiable. Staff with experience are so few and far between that they are stressed and unable to offer their attention to all the visitors. Simple things suddenly feel stressful, like preparing a cappuccino (hint: if it doesn't fit in the cup the way the coffee machine makes it, take a larger cup?) or a Spritz (it's not a recipe that requires two barmen...) In terms of room upkeep, daily calls were required post-room-cleaning to have the basic amenities replenished (empty shower gel bottle not replaced, empty toilet paper roll didn't trigger toilet paper to be replenished, ...) And when the hotel wrote Breakfast Included they didn't really mean it, at least not in a 4*S hotel sense. The breakfast buffet includes still a standard selection of ex-bottle juices, yoghurts, ham/cheese/salami/smoked salmon selection, sausages, baked beans, cold boiled eggs, etc. But when it comes to requests for hot options, a (over)fried egg served with... nothing, now costs CHF 3 extra. Two omelets with ham and cheese for children during breakfast cost CHF 18 extra. In summary, for service levels today, level of a 3 star hotel at best. Price-wise, no longer justifiable.

We were allocated a room in the old part of the hotel which was old fashioned & tired but clean. The beds were comfortable & we requested extra pillows which we received. Tea/coffee making facilities, 1 socket at dresser & more sockets under the bed side lockers, tiny inroom safe which was lockable with a key, told you it was old fashioned, flatscreen tv. Wifi initially poor but did improve. No air con but a fan was available. Ample hanging & shelving space. Soap bar at basin & soap dispenser in the shower which was surrounded by a plastic shower curtain. Decent water pressure. Hairdryer. Breakfast consisted of cereal, boiled eggs, various breads & rolls, hams & cheeses, fruit, good coffee machines. Dinner was independent from the hotel. The food was fine. The worst thing was the really sloooooow service with the 3-course meal taking over 2½ hours, not the fault of the 2 hardworking waitresses, please note, more staff required. Staff were friendly & the owner was open to a bit of banter. Tiny slow lift & steps from pavement into hotel make handling luggage difficult, no porterage. Exit hotel right for Post Office, shops & restaurants. Exit hotel left for trains including the Glacier Express. We were on a Riveria group tour consisting of 50 people on a ½ board basis.

We (a couple in our mid 70s) stayed at Patrice's wonderful studio apartment for three nights. Excellent location, and the studio was well-equipped with everything we needed, plus a little balcony. Patrice was very warm and welcoming and so helpful. Thank you !
