The hotel's overall environment and facilities are well-maintained, and the service is excellent. The biggest highlight is its location: it's close to the beach. You can take the hotel buggy to the Westin across the street and walk through their lobby to reach a private beach. It's also very close to the water park, which you can see from your room, making it super convenient for families with kids who want to play in the water, and it's not crowded with clean water. While the hotel's internal dining options are limited and the pool is a bit small, you can easily order takeout using Grab. I highly recommend Habourfront Seafood in town; it has a more Chinese style of cooking. For those of us who've been traveling for days and crave a taste of home, it was a lifesaver – the food was truly amazing! One minor drawback is that the hotel doesn't provide bottled water, only direct-drinking water, which doesn't taste as good as bottled water. There are very few takeout places nearby, and all the bottled water was sold out. If you're coming by private car, it's a good idea to bring extra bottled water with you.

Had a really good stay here. The resort is beautiful and very peaceful, especially in the evening. Everything is well maintained and the whole place just feels very relaxing. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We spent quite a lot of time just walking around the resort, chilling by the pool and enjoying the beach. Honestly, this is the kind of place where you don’t really need to plan much 😂 just come here, slow down and relax. Breakfast was really good too. Plenty of choices and we enjoyed almost everything we tried. One of my favourite parts was actually just sitting there in the morning, having breakfast slowly and enjoying the view instead of rushing anywhere. Service was good throughout our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed something, and everyone we met was very polite. The location is quite far from everything, but for me that’s not really a bad thing. If you’re coming to Desaru for a quiet getaway, then it actually works perfectly. Probably not the place if you want to go out and explore a lot, but if your plan is just eat, swim, sleep and relax, then yes 😂 Overall, we had a great time here. Good room, good food, beautiful surroundings and most importantly, very relaxing. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back again.

Flight tickets for the summer holiday were more than triple the usual price, so traveling by land became our priority. I booked a car through Taobao and the hotel via Ctrip. First, let me share my impression of the hotel: it's HUGE! The facilities are quite comprehensive: restaurants, swimming pools, beach, kids' club, and a gym. We booked a sea-view room and were assigned to a third-floor room right by the sea, offering a full view of the beach. The room was approximately 40+ square meters. If you need extra disposable slippers, drinking water, or blankets, you can contact the front desk, and they respond very quickly. I noticed many reviews mentioned that the breakfast wasn't good and lacked variety, but personally, I thought it was decent. They had roti canai, egg pancakes (more Indonesian-style than Chinese), freshly cooked rice noodles, regular noodles, and rice rolls. There were also Western options like bread, cakes, and pastries. For drinks, they offered tea, coffee, pineapple juice, and orange juice. Oh, I forgot to mention, it's a five-star hotel.

Housekeeping damn fast when I report the next day, they came to check but cannot locate it. Second is ants, but it disappeared after like 15mins. But I reported it after I check out since when I saw it, it was in the night already.

The hotel's overall environment and facilities are well-maintained, and the service is excellent. The biggest highlight is its location: it's close to the beach. You can take the hotel buggy to the Westin across the street and walk through their lobby to reach a private beach. It's also very close to the water park, which you can see from your room, making it super convenient for families with kids who want to play in the water, and it's not crowded with clean water. While the hotel's internal dining options are limited and the pool is a bit small, you can easily order takeout using Grab. I highly recommend Habourfront Seafood in town; it has a more Chinese style of cooking. For those of us who've been traveling for days and crave a taste of home, it was a lifesaver – the food was truly amazing! One minor drawback is that the hotel doesn't provide bottled water, only direct-drinking water, which doesn't taste as good as bottled water. There are very few takeout places nearby, and all the bottled water was sold out. If you're coming by private car, it's a good idea to bring extra bottled water with you.

Had a really good stay here. The resort is beautiful and very peaceful, especially in the evening. Everything is well maintained and the whole place just feels very relaxing. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We spent quite a lot of time just walking around the resort, chilling by the pool and enjoying the beach. Honestly, this is the kind of place where you don’t really need to plan much 😂 just come here, slow down and relax. Breakfast was really good too. Plenty of choices and we enjoyed almost everything we tried. One of my favourite parts was actually just sitting there in the morning, having breakfast slowly and enjoying the view instead of rushing anywhere. Service was good throughout our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed something, and everyone we met was very polite. The location is quite far from everything, but for me that’s not really a bad thing. If you’re coming to Desaru for a quiet getaway, then it actually works perfectly. Probably not the place if you want to go out and explore a lot, but if your plan is just eat, swim, sleep and relax, then yes 😂 Overall, we had a great time here. Good room, good food, beautiful surroundings and most importantly, very relaxing. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back again.

I chose this hotel after reading reviews carefully. It was a last-minute trip from Singapore to Malaysia with the kids, and Desaru, Johor Bahru, seemed like a good choice. Flight tickets for the summer holiday were more than triple the usual price, so traveling by land became our priority. I booked a car through Taobao and the hotel via Ctrip. First, let me share my impression of the hotel: it's HUGE! The facilities are quite comprehensive: restaurants, swimming pools, beach, kids' club, and a gym. We booked a sea-view room and were assigned to a third-floor room right by the sea, offering a full view of the beach. The room was approximately 40+ square meters. If you need extra disposable slippers, drinking water, or blankets, you can contact the front desk, and they respond very quickly. I noticed many reviews mentioned that the breakfast wasn't good and lacked variety, but personally, I thought it was decent. They had roti canai, egg pancakes (more Indonesian-style than Chinese), freshly cooked rice noodles, regular noodles, and rice rolls. There were also Western options like bread, cakes, and pastries. For drinks, they offered tea, coffee, pineapple juice, and orange juice. Oh, I forgot to mention, it's a five-star hotel.

We booked a sea-view room and were assigned to a third-floor room right by the sea, offering a full view of the beach. The room was approximately 40+ square meters. If you need extra disposable slippers, drinking water, or blankets, you can contact the front desk, and they respond very quickly. I noticed many reviews mentioned that the breakfast wasn't good and lacked variety, but personally, I thought it was decent. They had roti canai, egg pancakes (more Indonesian-style than Chinese), freshly cooked rice noodles, regular noodles, and rice rolls. There were also Western options like bread, cakes, and pastries. For drinks, they offered tea, coffee, pineapple juice, and orange juice. Oh, I forgot to mention, it's a five-star hotel.

Had a really good stay here. The resort is beautiful and very peaceful, especially in the evening. Everything is well maintained and the whole place just feels very relaxing. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We spent quite a lot of time just walking around the resort, chilling by the pool and enjoying the beach. Honestly, this is the kind of place where you don’t really need to plan much 😂 just come here, slow down and relax. Breakfast was really good too. Plenty of choices and we enjoyed almost everything we tried. One of my favourite parts was actually just sitting there in the morning, having breakfast slowly and enjoying the view instead of rushing anywhere. Service was good throughout our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed something, and everyone we met was very polite. The location is quite far from everything, but for me that’s not really a bad thing. If you’re coming to Desaru for a quiet getaway, then it actually works perfectly. Probably not the place if you want to go out and explore a lot, but if your plan is just eat, swim, sleep and relax, then yes 😂 Overall, we had a great time here. Good room, good food, beautiful surroundings and most importantly, very relaxing. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back again.

The hotel's overall environment and facilities are well-maintained, and the service is excellent. The biggest highlight is its location: it's close to the beach. You can take the hotel buggy to the Westin across the street and walk through their lobby to reach a private beach. It's also very close to the water park, which you can see from your room, making it super convenient for families with kids who want to play in the water, and it's not crowded with clean water. While the hotel's internal dining options are limited and the pool is a bit small, you can easily order takeout using Grab. I highly recommend Habourfront Seafood in town; it has a more Chinese style of cooking. For those of us who've been traveling for days and crave a taste of home, it was a lifesaver – the food was truly amazing! One minor drawback is that the hotel doesn't provide bottled water, only direct-drinking water, which doesn't taste as good as bottled water. There are very few takeout places nearby, and all the bottled water was sold out. If you're coming by private car, it's a good idea to bring extra bottled water with you.

The resort has a beautiful beachfront location, spacious rooms and plenty of facilities to keep the whole family entertained. The beach was clean and peaceful, and the swimming pools were great, especially for families with children. The Kids Club was also one of the highlights for us. There were enough activities around the resort that we didn’t feel the need to leave the property throughout our stay. The room was spacious and comfortable, although some areas of the room and facilities are starting to show their age and could benefit from a refresh. Breakfast had a good variety of local and international choices, and overall the food was enjoyable. What really stood out was the hospitality. Most of the staff we interacted with were friendly, helpful and attentive, which made the stay feel comfortable and welcoming. The Heavenly Spa was another nice touch for a relaxing break. Overall, Westin Desaru is still one of the better choices for a family beach getaway. It is a place where you can slow down, spend quality time with your family and simply enjoy the resort. We had a good stay and would definitely consider coming back again.

It was nice staying here. I came with my mother, my husband, and our 4year old child, and we had a good time. The swimming pool area is really nice, especially having two pools. The beach is also nearby, so we could enjoy the view easily. However, ordering food at the Tiara Café is quite expensive. The balcony is very spacious, but unfortunately it was not clean hmmm there was bird droppings, so that definitely needs improvement. Also, the first bathroom did not have a heater, which was inconvenient. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but there are a few areas that need improvement.

Juicy watermelons! You can enjoy sun rise while having breakfast. The resort has a chalet feel. They should look into their aircon as it doesn’t seems to cool well. The facilities are aged. Wash basin water drain a little slow. Overall, we love this place for the view! Hope the next time we return, the facilities would have improved.

The hotel has a beautiful view, which was the only highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, everything else was very disappointing. The cleanliness was poor. The basement parking area had a very strong sewage smell, making it extremely unpleasant. The parking spaces were also very narrow. The swimming pool was unsafe as several tiles were broken, which could be dangerous, especially for children. The room had no Wi-Fi even though we were informed during check-in that Wi-Fi was provided. When we called the receptionist, we were repeatedly told there was an ongoing issue, but it was never resolved throughout our stay. If you need an iron, you have to request one, and it can only be used for 30 minutes. Unlike most hotels, no iron was provided in the room. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment. During check-in, we were advised to have breakfast after 8:30 a.m. However, when we arrived at around 8:30 a.m., many of the food items had already run out and were not replenished, even though breakfast was served until 10:00 a.m. We asked the staff if the empty trays would be refilled, and they said yes. However, after waiting for quite some time, nothing was replaced. Overall, this was a very disappointing stay. The beautiful view alone could not make up for the poor cleanliness, inadequate facilities, and poor service. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this hotel.

Next to 4 points sheraton, suggest to stay here should drive or prepared to Grab. A 15min drive away from waterpark/ fruit farm. 1hour away from firefly park. Near supermarkt and nice cafe kedai kopi otai. But basically cos condo has no short cut or alternative entrance, u must walk out from the front and do a big detour by foot. Easier to drive out. Accommodation wise, yes, apartment block is away from carpark and no sheltered walkway, but is not far, u can drive to entrance first to unload then one person goes to carpark. But bring an umbrella in case. The kids loved the Mario brother theme, lego blocks and slide. Also free netflix. Responsive staff during working hours. But after working hours, expect a slight delay in responses. Cleanliness was ok, not amazing but ok. Bedsheets if just used newer ones will make a big difference on impression. Note a RM 200 deposit is required. Appreciate the hot and cold water dispenser provided. Amenities were great.

The facilities i can say is very good for a small hotel. Very proper system. Its just that the management might have to improve on checking the facilities. When i was there the hot water arent that hot and the entrance lamp in my room actually not working. Room 115 so management please take note on this. We paid for breakfast and they serve us maggi goreng on first day and nasi goreng on second day (need to check the quality too as for me its quite tasteless). Asal ada punya breakfast la I would say. There’s room for improvement!!

Pros: The location is excellent, with plenty of halal dining options nearby and a small shopping mall just a few minutes’ walk away. The hotel is conveniently located about 25 minutes from the Mini Zoo and only 10 minutes from Desaru Beach. The room rates are affordable, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a connecting room, which we greatly appreciated. The room was also clean and comfortable. Cons: One major inconvenience was that the refrigerator automatically switched off whenever we left the room. After spending a long, hot day outdoors, it was disappointing to return and find our drinks no longer cold. On our first night, we requested an extra towel and toothbrush set since there were three guests in the room. Unfortunately, the items were not delivered, even after we followed up at the front desk. There was also no floor mat provided. Thankfully, our experience improved the next day thanks to Zamre at the front desk. He was friendly, helpful, and made sure we received everything we needed. He also ensured our room was ready by 1 PM. Zamre’s excellent service truly stood out and made a positive difference to our stay. He is probably the main reason we would choose to return to Fives Desaru on our next visit. Overall, the hotel offers good value for money, and with improvements in housekeeping responsiveness, the experience would be even better.
