It was great to be able to buy food from the market and enjoy a meal on the 3rd-floor terrace while admiring the Cheongcho Lake night view. A direct bus takes you to Jungang Market. The scenery is lovely. The only drawback is that this room faces south-southwest, so you can't watch the sunrise 🌅

1. Poor Room Layout and Lack of Consideration for Female Guests There is no dressing table/vanity. Without one, there should at least be a mirror positioned where I can sit down to apply makeup, but the only mirror is located by the entrance (where you put on shoes). I tried using the bathroom instead, but the lighting is so poorly placed that it reflects off the mirror, making it impossible to see my face clearly. Furthermore, the hairdryer cord is so short that I can’t even look in the mirror while drying my hair. The lack of consideration for female guests is appalling. 2. Unreasonable Trash Disposal Policy Guests are required to sort and dispose of their own recycling. I don’t understand why a guest staying at a hotel is expected to do the housekeeping. To make matters worse, the trash disposal area has no roof, so if it’s raining, you have to either hold an umbrella or just get soaked while throwing away the trash. 3. Unmanaged AV Room There is an AV/Game room, but no staff members are stationed there to manage it. This means if one team decides to monopolize the equipment and play for hours, there is no way to intervene. There is clearly no oversight or system in place to ensure all guests get a fair turn.

I visit Sokcho every summer. This is my second visit here, and the breakfast is simple yet substantial. The better rooms even have washing machines. Since it has a view of Cheongcho Lake, I get to enjoy the water to my heart's content. It is located close to Sokcho Central Market, so I don't have to worry about food.

Excellent location (I mean EXCELLENT) as it's 5 min away from the entrance of the park. It is easy to get to by bus no 7/7-1 and by taxi. The hotel looks a bit old from the outside but it is tastefully decorated on the inside and they keep very well in line with the English theme. The rooms are clean and spacious, with very nice views. They have a nice space to put things away and a small fridge. Our shower unfortunately wasn't sealed from the shower door so we ended up with water in the whole bathroom (difficult to control with a 6'4 partner). It has in house laundry and a small grocery shop that saved us one day it was raining too much to head back to the restaurant area. Really recommend if you're visiting the park (or Sokcho as it's also 15-20 min away by bus). Very friendly staff.

Considering it was peak season, getting this good a deal was nearly impossible – truly excellent value for money. **Pros:** Great value for money, good access to the city center, an extra duvet provided for four adults. Despite the older facilities, the cleanliness was good. The parking lot was huge. **Cons:** Not enough elevators for the number of guests. In the summer, the ondol room (floor sleeping) had no air conditioning. Aside from soap and towels, no other amenities were provided. However, there were dishes, a coffee pot, a refrigerator, and a gas stove and knife. **Suggestions:** It would be great if the annex also had kiosks or self-check-in/check-out. It would also be nice to have additional facilities like an arcade or karaoke room.

The Accommodations The rooms themselves were perfectly fine. They were clean, the bed was comfortable enough for a decent night's sleep, and the amenities were exactly what you’d expect for the price point. If I were rating based on the physical space alone, this would be a solid, middle-of-the-road experience. The Service However, the customer service was nonexistent. From the moment I checked in, it felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff. The front desk was cold and unresponsive, and trying to get assistance with a simple request felt like pulling teeth. There was a total lack of energy or ”hospitality” in the hospitality—no smiles, no proactive help, and a general vibe of indifference that really soured the stay. It’s a shame, because a little bit of effort from the team could have easily turned this into a positive review.

I took an Uber from the bus terminal and was dropped off at Building C because I just typed the hotel name — it happened to be the first building we passed, and I didn’t know that it wasn’t the main one. Building C has no reception, so I went up to Level 4 (if I remember correctly) for the kiosk check-in. It was a bit laggy, but I managed to complete the process and was assigned a room in Building A. I’m not sure if all rooms with the Ondol (heated-floor) type are in that building. I had to walk to Building A with my two suitcases, which took around 5-7 minutes — not too bad, but it felt a bit of a hassle after a long trip. The location, however, was really good. If you love catching the sunrise, you can simply wake up early and walk for about 2 minutes to the beach. I also booked an Uber ride to Seoraksan National Park for a 5 a.m. hike, which cost ₩17,500. The room was quite spacious, especially for a solo traveler. The only downside was that there’s no bidet or smart toilet. You might also want to bring your own large towel, as they only provide small ones, and no toothbrush kits — although there’s a vending machine on the first floor for toiletries and slippers if you need extras. The heating floor worked perfectly, and the room was very clean. It’s well-equipped with cooking and dining utensils, a built-in electric stove, a washing machine, and a large fridge — ideal for longer stays. There are also plenty of convenience stores, coffee shops, and restaurants on the first floor, and several attractions are within walking distance. Overall, it’s a great place to stay — comfortable, clean, and convenient for both short and long visits in Sokcho.

I'd known about Maremons Hotel through YouTube since the pandemic, hearing it was a decent hotel in Sokcho with clean bedding and formal service. I especially wanted to visit because it had a sauna. So, I finally came for an early summer vacation. The Ocean View Suite room was spacious and lovely. The unobstructed ocean view from the hillside was definitely the highlight. At 3 PM check-in time, a lot of guests were waiting in the lobby. About 5 minutes before 3, everyone rushed to the check-in desk, forming a line that felt more like a market than a formal hotel lobby. It would be better if they implemented a number ticketing system or allowed early check-in if rooms were ready, as the first impression was quite chaotic. There were two male staff members at the check-in desk, and their service seemed very slow, which was a bit frustrating. The room's cleanliness was relatively good, and the outdoor balcony was also clean. The TV was an outdated model and needs an upgrade in the future. The coffee maker was clean, but the teacups were so old and discolored that I was reluctant to use them for coffee. The male staff member at the B1 sauna facilities was incredibly friendly, which I appreciated, and the facilities themselves were well-maintained. If I get the chance, I'd love to visit again. I recommend it.

The view is great. It feels a bit dated, but it offers good value for money for a large family. The elevator is very crowded and difficult to take, and even though the parking lot is huge, there are so many cars that there is nowhere to park. Nevertheless, the market is close (10 minutes by car) and you can see the lake, so we had a good rest. Although it is located in Chase, since it is a different establishment, the contactless check-in made it feel more convenient.

I stayed with my family at this hotel for four days while visiting Sokcho. Most importantly, it was very clean; they left bottled water and fresh towels in a plastic bag outside the door every day. For stays longer than three days, they provide housekeeping and change the bed sheets. The location is excellent—just a 10-minute walk to the beach, with many restaurants nearby. Since E-Mart and Daiso are few steps distance, it is convenient to pick up anything you need. It is also close to bus stops, making it easy to get to Seoraksan National Park. The reception staff were friendly and handled the check-in process quickly. I would recommend choosing a room on a higher floor; in my 8th-floor room viewing the city, I could hear a continuous, loud noise from outside—possibly from an air conditioner—whenever the window was open. The dressing area was spacious and comfortable.

Overall, it was a fairly standard stay, saved by the brand reputation and great location, but the value for money was low. 2400 a night for a five-star hotel was indeed a bit pricey. I chose it because it's under the Banyan Tree brand, and there's a lot of hype about it on Xiao Hong Shu (Redbook), but the actual stay wasn't great. The front desk is on the second floor, and check-in was smooth. The staff's English was decent, and they spoke a little Chinese, though there weren't many Chinese guests there anyway. The room wasn't very big. The mattress firmness and size were reasonable, and the windows were floor-to-ceiling. The downside was that they couldn't be opened, so ventilation relied entirely on the air conditioning. Upon entering, there was a noticeable smell of fresh paint. Room service ended at 9 PM. The infinity pool is on the 21st floor, which seems to be the hotel's main selling point. Hmm... the good thing is the water quality is excellent, but the water temperature was too high. It would probably be great in winter. The pool isn't very large, and there's also a warm pool next to it. The lounge chairs were packed very tightly, probably mostly for sunbathing, and the flow of traffic felt a bit congested. Usage hours were from 8 AM to 12 PM. According to Korean law, children are not allowed in after 8 PM, which is pretty standard across Korea. Next, the worst part of the experience: the soundproofing was terrible. I could clearly hear guests walking and talking in the next room. We were woken up in the middle of the night after falling asleep, and it took two calls to the front desk and about 30 minutes for someone to come and speak to them. The room environment and service level truly don't match the brand and price! I hope they can improve, which is why I've offered these suggestions.

In the middle of winter, we were given a room with a broken boiler, so the whole family was nervous and had to move to another room. The complacent response and attitude of the employees during that process was truly absurd. It's not that they were unfriendly, but it was strange that the staff gave us a room with a broken boiler and told us to wait no matter how many times we said it was cold, leaving us there for hours before finally moving us to another room.

The front desk staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The hotel provides detailed guides in English, so even if you don’t speak Korean, you can feel confident exploring the area on your own. The mountain-view room was absolutely beautiful. In the morning, I could watch the sunrise right from the room and wake up surrounded by a sea of clouds. It was such a peaceful and unforgettable experience! The room was compact but very clean and well-equipped. I especially liked the automatic toilet and the pleasant lavender-scented body wash and shampoo. We visited with a family of three and our dog. It was nice that it was unmanned, and the entrance password can be received via the app or message. In terms of transportation, it is near the Sokcho IC, so it is convenient to get there from Seoul. Sokcho Beach is about a 15-minute drive away, but since it was peak season, there was no parking available, so we went to a different beach. It is convenient that the Sokcho Market, food district, and hospital are within a 10-15 minute drive. The swimming pool at the pension is pleasant, but since it is located in the mountains, the water is cold, so it would be best to use it when the sun is shining brightly. Still, young children are energetic and play well in the pool compared to adults. If they supplied a little warm water to the pool, there would be no shortage of amenities. There were no bugs in the room, and the bedding and other items were very clean and soft. There were plenty of extra bedding and towels. The kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator, microwave, kettle, pots, pans, plates, and cups; however, there are only plastic cutlery, perhaps because people have used them, so it is a good idea to bring your own. The view of Ulsanbawi Rock is nice, visible from the window. It would be best to keep the window closed just in case bugs get in. I had a really good rest. I think it would be nice to visit again. It's much hotter in Seoul than in Sokcho.

There are convenience stores and hop house restaurants in front and back. I chose the beach right in front of me. The room I chose has a mini swimming pool, so it's private. You have to know that the swimming pool will be operated from June !!! It was great to relax with a day's fatigue while spaing! It's close to the city and the street, so it didn't exceed 25 minutes anywhere! It's perfect to go to Yeonggeumjeong next door, watch the sunrise, and walk! went Sokcho for the best sunrise view and this hotel is 100% the best location to view the sunrise. less than 3min walk to Seorak Sunrise Park. there's water purifier at reception counter at level 1 with cold and hot water. there's staff sitting at reception counter 24/7, need to call cab to get to Sokcho express bus terminal and staff was very helpful, they only speak korean so for no korean speakers, make sure you have google translator ready. only soap and small towel provided. heater on bed. definitely need to take cab from hotel to Sokcho fishery port or central market or from express bus terminal to the hotel.

We stayed 2 nights, and the owners were really kind and friendly and invited us to sing and play Korean songs along with them and other families in the stage they have in the basement. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my whole trip in South Korea. The room and water were warm and well suited for the winter. They upgraded our room for free and there was so much space with sink, fridge, sofa and table included. The breakfast every morning is delicious and filling, preparing you well for a day of walking in the mountains. 설악산 was beautiful coated in the white snow. The location of the hotel is great too, as there is a frequent bus that takes you to the park in no time, as well as to the city when you first come or when you leave the last day. I hope I can come back again to visit the park during different seasons, and I will definitely would like to stay in this hotel again. Thank you for everything. Gracias, 감사합니다 😄
