Putrajaya Merdeka Parade

If you’re in Malaysia around 31 August, you’ll notice the Merdeka spirit everywhere! From Jalur Gemilang flags on cars and buildings to Merdeka-themed events, the whole country gets into the patriotic mood. 🌟

Merdeka Day, also known as Malaysia’s National Day, commemorates the country’s independence from British rule in 1957. For Malaysians, it’s more than just a public holiday. It’s a time to celebrate our history, culture and what makes Malaysia special. ❤️

And the celebration isn’t limited to one city. Almost every state has its own Merdeka Day events, from local parades and cultural performances to community activities. But this year, Putrajaya takes center stage as the host of Malaysia’s official National Day celebration.

So here’s my guide to the Putrajaya Merdeka Parade 2026, including the parade schedule, route, viewing spots, transport tips, what to bring and things to do after the celebration.

The hotel is new and the facilities are generally very nice. However, there are still some areas that need improvement, especially the electrical system. We experienced the power tripping several times when using the sockets and washing machine. The service experience was also disappointing. When the maintenance team attended to the electrical issue, the problem was not properly resolved. The next day, I was asked why I did not request to change rooms. However, the incident happened after 11pm, and the technician who came to our room did not suggest a room change or offer any alternative solution at the time. Due to the inconvenience caused by the electrical issue, I requested a complimentary late check-out until 3pm as a service recovery gesture. I felt this was a reasonable request considering the disruption we experienced during our stay. Housekeeping could also improve their communication, as the way we were approached regarding check-out felt quite harsh and unwelcoming. Overall, the hotel has great potential with a good location and excellent amenities, but the electrical issues, maintenance response and overall service handling definitely need improvement.

A very short work trip to the federal state. Arrived at midnight and greeted with a smooth and quick check in process. Within less than 5 minutes after stepping into the lobby, I already in my room enjoying refreshing shower. Room is spacious and the bathroom is with tubs. Basic amenities as usual. There's a corridor for view Breakfast was good, more of local cuisines with some option of western dishes. Gym is good enough for simple full body workout or treadmill run. Pool has nice view. View and location is the highlight. Located on a hill with nice view. Secret Garden Putrajaya is within walking distance, local attraction to enjoy Strategic stay if you are attending official government event/meeting in nearby ministry or agency headquarters
