The moment you exit the terminal, the crisp, icy air is unmistakable—far colder than Malaysia’s tropical warmth, yet refreshing in its own unique way. Despite the language barrier many travellers expect in northern China, English signage is clearly displayed throughout the airport, making it easy to navigate even on your first visit.

After a long journey, all you want is a comfortable and straightforward trip into the city. No complicated processes, no confusion, and definitely no dragging heavy suitcases through crowded stations. Fortunately, getting from Harbin Taiping International Airport to Harbin city centre is uncomplicated and traveller-friendly. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning for the Ice and Snow Festival, reliable transport options are readily available to ensure a smooth start to your winter adventure.

✈️ Airports in Harbin

Why Harbin’s Airport Matters

Harbin Taiping International Airport handles a significant number of passengers each year, especially during the winter peak when visitors arrive for the world-famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival. Prior to the pandemic, passenger traffic grew steadily as Harbin became more popular among international travellers.

The airport serves as an important hub for airlines such as China Southern Airlines, Air China, and Sichuan Airlines. Its strong network of domestic routes makes it easy for Malaysian travellers to connect through cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, or Shenzhen before continuing onward to Harbin.

Strategically located in Daoli District, the airport links Harbin with key cities across northeastern China. Its position supports regional development and provides smooth access for both business visitors and tourists. The airport is also well connected to the city via shuttle buses, taxis, private transfers, and ride-hailing services.

Harbin Taiping International Airport is continuously upgrading its facilities to support growing tourism demand. Travellers will find a clean, modern terminal equipped with automated check-in counters, efficient immigration processing, and convenient transportation links. Despite the extreme winter conditions outside, the terminal remains warm, comfortable, and traveller-friendly, ensuring a pleasant arrival experience for international visitors.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Songhua River, with Central Street and Hongzhuan Street Morning Market just next door. St. Sophia Cathedral is also within walking distance. There are tons of local specialty restaurants nearby, and shopping malls are very close, too. The transportation is excellent, making it easy to get anywhere. The room was clean and cozy, which I really appreciated, and the service was great. I highly recommend staying here. Plus, there's complimentary warm tea in the lobby, which is a lovely touch.

You get what you pay for. While it's pricey, the cost is justified. The lobby immediately gives off a luxurious, palatial vibe, and they even shared some of the building's history with my child. Our luggage was brought to the room for us, and the staff meticulously explained all the room's amenities. The hotel has a front and back building. We booked a king room in the front building, and it truly felt opulent, with a very spacious and comfortable bathroom. The queen rooms are in the back building, and their bathrooms are standard hotel size. The service staff are excellent, making you feel right at home. For breakfast, they even have freshly grilled steak.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Stay! We had a wonderful time at this hotel. The location couldn’t be better—perfect for exploring the city. The hotel itself has a bit of old-school charm, but everything is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The staff is incredibly friendly and personal, always making sure you feel welcome. A huge highlight for us was the playroom for children. It’s not just a room—there’s actual staff looking after the kids, which gave us some rare relaxation time. Huge thumbs up! Breakfast is a massive buffet with plenty of choice. And if you book the Horizon Club, you get free drinks and food all day long. Absolutely worth it. We’ll definitely be back!

I saw some negative reviews and was a bit nervous before checking in. However, my stay turned out to be fantastic! Everything from the service, hardware, and breakfast, to the gym (all Technogym equipment!), and the excellent quality of the pastry at breakfast, met all my expectations. I'm very satisfied, especially with the superb service!

For guests with medical needs, the hotel's proximity to the pulmonary hospital is a huge advantage. Whether it's an emergency requiring immediate attention or accompanying a friend or family member for check-ups and treatments, it saves a significant amount of travel time and cost, making it convenient and efficient. Furthermore, being near a hospital often means there are accompanying medical facilities like pharmacies, making it easier for guests to purchase medications if needed.

The location is very close to the Harbin High Speed Train Station. Highly recommended from those taking the train to Harbin. The hotel is clean, with warmer and washing facilities. I get my clothes dry daily so that I don't need to bring a lot of clothes to change. Less than 200 metres to the local train station and less than 1 km to the busy Central Walking Street. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby as well. The place is not rowdy and safe to walk. Easy to get Didi hailing vehicle service.

My husband and I came to Harbin for some errands, and we didn't hesitate to stay here again. We've stayed three or four times now, and it's always been great. The only thing is that the facilities are a bit dated, but everything else is good! It's super close to the Hongzhuan Street morning market 😊

This hotel boasts an excellent location, right next to Central Street. It's super convenient for dining and drinks, and the Harbin Municipal Museum is just across the road, which is a huge plus for museum enthusiasts. Getting around by taxi is also very easy. The hotel offers complimentary afternoon tea and late-night snacks, and upon check-in, they even give you a Madieer ice cream and red sausage. The staff are all warm and friendly; seeing that I had a child, they proactively asked if we needed extra bottles of water for the room. I'll definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit.

Traveling with my child, I initially booked a king-sized bed. Upon arrival, I saw they had family rooms, so I paid the difference to upgrade. This room is truly spacious, easily 30-40 sqm! It's very well-equipped with a mini-fridge and a humidifier. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area with a double vanity, which is super thoughtful – no more rushing to get ready when there are multiple people in the morning! The room price was also very reasonable. The room temperature was actually quite warm, and the staff were incredibly friendly, truly embodying that heartwarming Northeastern hospitality. It was really great!

The service at this five-star hotel is quite good. First, I'd like to commend the uncle at the entrance – he truly deserves praise. Every time, he actively helped us open the car door and handle our luggage, being very enthusiastic. I personally feel that the staff at the entrance create our first impression of a hotel, and this seemingly entry-level position is actually very important. Thumbs up to the uncle! We arrived at the hotel around 11 PM on a late flight, and the front desk staff were also very welcoming. With smiles on their faces, they checked us in and even gave the child a small handmade gift. It wasn't expensive, but it made for a really nice experience. Now, for my personal dissatisfactions. We paid an extra 50 yuan for a room with a view of the Ice and Snow World. While they did ask if we were willing to pay extra for the room, and I accepted, I still feel that for a five-star hotel, this practice is a bit ungraceful. The room itself was standard. A five-star hotel in the 'Great North' (referring to a northern region of China) still lags significantly behind five-star hotels in first-tier cities, especially the bathroom – it was really, really old-fashioned. There was no shower cubicle, no wet/dry separation, just a shower curtain. After showering, water almost certainly spilled out. Luckily, the bathroom was large enough that there was still space to stand. If I had checked in in the afternoon, I definitely would have asked to change rooms, but it was late at night, and I couldn't be bothered to move, especially since I wasn't sleeping in the bathroom anyway. Still, it was very frustrating, and I hope the bathroom gets renovated. Overall, it's decent. There's a subway nearby for getting around, and ordering takeout is very convenient – the robot delivery service eliminates the hassle of self-pickup, which is a big plus. **Facilities:** Old **Service:** Very good **Environment:** Good

I'm writing this review today because of Amy, an amazing lady at the JW Marriott Hotel Harbin. She was like a warm haven in the middle of the Harbin Ice and Snow World [smiley face]. Our stay at the Marriott was during the latter part of our Harbin trip. The morning we returned to Harbin from Snow Town, Amy called to confirm our itinerary and asked about our room preferences. She arranged a room with a view of the Ice and Snow World, and we were truly amazed the moment we stepped in. Because I hadn't read the details carefully, I discovered upon arrival that breakfast wasn't included in my package. My attempts to resolve this with the booking platform were unsuccessful. For someone like me who absolutely needs breakfast when staying at a hotel, this was really hard to accept, but since it was my own oversight, I had to just accept it. Later, I spoke with Amy, and after understanding the situation, she consulted with her superiors and helped resolve the issue. The hotel facilities are meticulous, thoughtful, and high-quality. I'll definitely book Marriott hotels in other locations again. Five-star rating, all thanks to the staff here. [smiley face]

Went with my husband during the off-peak season, and the price was unbelievably low again after using points, only about eighty yuan. The location is excellent, very close to the museum. If you turn left when you go out, there's a spot that's not listed on maps, and the night view there is stunning. It's clean and hygienic, and the front desk staff provided superb service. Highly recommended, great value for money. There's also a morning market nearby worth checking out.

Very convenient and comfortable two night stays here. The location was right in front of the cable car to Sun Island. However, the cable car was so deserted and there was not much thing to see in Sun Island. A few minute walk to Zhongyang street, which was so convenient too. Very close to Metro exit, just across the road. For the room, comfortable with proper heater and flexible with window that I can open to let some air get inside. No smell of Smoking as I always afraid of. Fruits and soup were served in the room both nights with some cards. So cute, hot, and delicious. Great variety of breakfast. Jenny, a staff welcomed us with cute yogurt cups and also bought some box for takeaway food. Good service with a lot of souvenir both checkin and out. A staff, Tim gave us some dried blueberry as a souvenir before we left. There was a shop downstairs in case you need some extra scarfs or gloves or ear-covered. Also laundry room and fitness. Especially, I love billiard table that I took hours to play on my last night.
