Traveling during Thailand’s public holidays offers both exciting and challenging experiences. Major holidays like Songkran and Loy Krathong are perfect for those wanting to immerse themselves in Thailand’s lively cultural festivals. However, during these holidays, many shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions may be closed, particularly in more traditional areas.

5. Closures and Disruptions to Expect During Thailand’s Public Holidays 🛎️

Let’s head out with Trip.com during Thailand’s 2026 public holidays and days off!

During Thailand’s public holidays, especially Songkran and Loy Krathong, there are some common closures and disruptions:

  • Public Transportation: Expect crowded trains, buses, and flights, especially during Songkran, when many locals return to their hometowns. Booking tickets in advance is essential, particularly for Songkran and Loy Krathong.
  • Shops and Restaurants: Many local businesses, especially in smaller towns or traditional markets, will close during holidays. Larger malls and restaurants in tourist areas will remain open but can be crowded, particularly during major festivals.
  • Attractions: Some museums, historical sites, and cultural institutions may close on public holidays. Be sure to check ahead to confirm opening hours during holidays.

6. Travel Tips for Thailand’s Holiday Seasons 🌟

What Are Thailand’s Public Holidays? Basic Knowledge of the System, Culture, and Royal Ceremonies
  • Plan Ahead: Book accommodations, tours, and transportation well in advance, especially during busy holidays like Songkran and Loy Krathong. Public transportation can be overbooked, and accommodations fill up quickly.
  • Expect Crowds: Major tourist areas, like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, will be crowded during public holidays. Be ready for street parades, festivals, and large gatherings. While it’s a great time to experience the local culture, it’s also a time when places can get congested.
  • Experience the Culture: If you’re visiting during Songkran or Loy Krathong, don’t miss out on participating in the local customs—throwing water during Songkran or releasing a lantern during Loy Krathong can be unforgettable cultural experiences.

By understanding Thailand’s public holidays in 2026, you can better plan your trip, avoid disruptions, and immerse yourself in the exciting celebrations of one of Southeast Asia’s most culturally rich countries.

Both the room interior and exterior were very clean and comfortable. However, it was disappointing that even with the cleaning sign hung in the double room, only one towel was provided each time. Everything else was perfect. The weak shower water pressure and the fact the showerhead couldn't be removed were slightly inconvenient. Also, the bathtub's shape, which traps water, was unhygienic. The lunch buffet offered a wide variety of dishes, and the taste was Michelin-level. If only the location were closer to the subway, I would definitely come again.

My last stop in Thailand was Bangkok, and considering my travel goals, I chose the Pullman Bangkok Hotel G on Silom Road. The hotel is located on the bustling Silom Road, which was perfect for a shopaholic like me. It's only about a 5-minute walk to Chong Nonsi BTS Skytrain Station, and there's a bus stop right downstairs. The Mahanakhon Tower is also within walking distance. There's a 7-Eleven about 100 meters away, but you have to cross the road to get to it. Dragging my luggage into the lobby, my first impression was its strong design aesthetic; the stylish decor was quite eye-catching. The welcome drink offered during check-in was a thoughtful touch, instantly easing my travel fatigue. Check-in was very quick, but there were peak period queues on later days of my vacation. I had a room with a floor-to-ceiling window, offering a great view. Lower floors feature dark wood flooring with brown decor. If you prefer lighter colors, opt for the white-themed high-floor rooms shown on the hotel's homepage. The bedding was very comfortable, but the hangers were fixed and couldn't be removed. Initially, there were only 2 bottles of water, but when I asked the staff, they readily provided 4. The breakfast was a buffet with a good variety of Thai and Western options. However, it gets incredibly crowded! Waiting for a table during peak hours was common, and the serving area felt a bit cramped. On the plus side, there was an à la carte menu where you could order personalized egg dishes, and the service was prompt and attentive. · **Swimming Pool**: This was my favorite spot. You can swim outdoors directly facing the Mahanakhon Tower – the view is fantastic and perfect for photos. · **Gym**: It's open 24 hours, but the equipment is quite basic, almost rudimentary. It's only suitable for simple cardio or strength training. · **Library and Lounge**: Mostly used for photo opportunities; there were hardly any guests using it. In the evening, I visited Scarlett Wine Bar & Restaurant on the 37th floor, which was definitely the hotel's 'highlight'. This place is recommended by the Michelin Guide and has an amazing ambiance. The best part is that the prices are very reasonable. As a Bangkok sky bar and Michelin-recommended French restaurant, you can check it out with a minimum spend of just 90 baht for sparkling water or 210 baht for a cocktail. The French desserts are authentic, priced around 440 baht. French main courses are only about 1,000-2,000 baht per person. Reservations are needed, and it's open from 4 PM to midnight on weekends. Sitting there, you can take in the panoramic Bangkok city skyline and the Chao Phraya River night view, with the Mahanakhon Tower brightly lit across the way – very romantic. The wine list is extensive and professional, with over 150 wines to choose from. If you're coming around sunset, I highly recommend booking an outdoor table in advance. Enjoying a drink with the evening breeze is the perfect way to experience Bangkok.

Need bout 10 min walks from BTS Thing Lor station. The good part is you can contact hotel for tuk tuk pick up service (every 30 min). This is the best part of this stay. Hotel breakfast menu changed, the main course not repeating. Can order Thai tea during breakfast and is nice. 5 min walk to nearest 7-11 and there are local food stall in front the 7-11 too.

The hotel is a bit old and the decor is quite dated. They upgraded me to a suite, but the bed was still on the small side. This area seems to be a gathering place for Chinese people, probably around 70% Chinese guests. The breakfast selection was decent, and it's very close to Asiatique The Riverfront, about a 700-meter walk. I found a massage place nearby that offered foot massages for possibly the lowest price in Bangkok, 150B an hour. Overall, the hotel felt just okay.

This hotel stay was absolutely fantastic! The location is superb, super convenient for getting around, and surrounded by tons of great food options. The room was spotless and well-equipped, with a really comfortable bed that guaranteed a great night's sleep. And the service was exceptional – the staff were so friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious too. I highly recommend this hotel; I'm sure you'll be as happy with it as I was.

This hotel, despite being a bit old, offers excellent service and great value for money. Check-in was very fast. Parking can be a bit tricky, as the turns are quite narrow on each level. We parked on the 7th, 8th, or 9th floor and took the elevator to the 11th floor for check-in. The front desk staff were very welcoming, and the breakfast was decent. There's also a 7-Eleven right downstairs. If you're really particular about new facilities, I'd suggest choosing a big-name brand, but for the price in Bangkok, I think this place is fantastic.

Overall, it's pretty good. This place isn't too far from ICONSIAM. I tried walking to the pier and then taking a boat across to ICONSIAM; of course, you could also choose other transportation options. The room itself is decent, though I wish the lighting was a bit brighter. Be careful not to turn on the faucet in the sink too much, or water will splash onto your clothes – that could definitely be improved. The swimming pool is on the 7th floor and is open until 11 PM, so you don't have to worry about missing out on a swim if you get back late from exploring. The front desk was very helpful with check-in; even if you don't speak English or Thai, it's fine because they'll translate and show you directly in Chinese, so no worries there. Breakfast is on the 6th floor and is also quite good.

My trip to Thailand was wonderful, and the hotel's location was very convenient. However, the hygiene conditions were truly concerning, something I've never experienced before. I discovered the issues late at night and called the front desk to explain. The person actually asked me, ”Didn't anyone clean your room today?” Seriously, whose job is that? Are you asking me? How am I supposed to know? Anyway, the tip I left on the pillow was gone, so I just assumed someone had cleaned the room. The staff who changed the sheets was polite, but three or four sets had different dirty spots. They eventually explained it was washing machine marks. But then I have to ask, are the marks on the sheets also from the washing machine? And what about the holes in the duvet cover? In the end, I just gave up. Dirty is dirty, I'll just wear my pajamas and deal with it. They said it was too late to report to the manager that night and that the manager would contact me the next day. But the next day, I had to be the one to go to the front desk. They said the manager was in a meeting and asked when I would be available. I'm on vacation! Who has time to wait around for you? Finally, it was check-out time, and they asked if I still wanted to talk to the manager. So, should I just miss my flight and skip going to the airport? Will you reimburse me for a missed flight? Their way of handling problems was incredibly frustrating. My trip was originally very happy, and Thailand is beautiful, but this hotel completely ruined my mood. On the bright side, I have to give credit where it's due: the fire safety was excellent. Someone smoked in their room, and the alarm went off. I ran out in the middle of the night thinking there was a fire. It did affect my sleep a bit, but at least the alarm worked well.

Another repeated stay because of its ideal location where it is close to the MRT (along the blue line where we enjoy visiting the historic precincts served by the line) and Samyan Mitrtown (especially when we need to shop for last minute Thai snacks at Big C and After You) . Also, our fave eateries like T spoon and Chula 50 are close by. The hotel staff is warm and welcoming. The male housekeeper is very thorough and ensures our room is tidied by the time we had our breakfast. Room was cozy and it’s nice they provide capsule coffee, instant cup noodles and soft drinks within the room. Will be back again.

I recently stayed at Bangkok Asia Hotel during a business trip and had an overall positive experience. Location The hotel is well-situated with convenient access to public transport — the Ratchathewi BTS station is directly connected, providing excellent connectivity to key areas in Bangkok. The location also offers nearby options for dining, shopping, and local attractions. Accommodation The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a good environment for both rest and work. While the decor is somewhat dated compared to newer hotels, all essential amenities were provided, and housekeeping was consistently reliable. Service The hotel staff were courteous, professional, and responsive to guest needs. Check-in and check-out were handled efficiently, and concierge assistance was helpful with local recommendations and transportation arrangements. Facilities The hotel offers a good range of facilities, including a fitness centre, swimming pool, and on-site dining options. Breakfast service was adequate with a decent variety of local and international selections. Overall Experience Bangkok Asia Hotel provides a comfortable and convenient base for both business and leisure travellers. While the property reflects an older style, the service quality and excellent location more than compensate. I would consider staying here again for future Bangkok visits, particularly when prioritising accessibility and value.

From the moment you step into the lobby, Hotel Muse Bangkok impresses with its 1920s-inspired design and elegant vintage charm. The décor feels like stepping into a glamorous era. Pros: 📍 Location: Situated on Langsuan Road, this hotel is in a central and convenient part of Bangkok, just a short walk from the Chidlom BTS station and within easy reach of shopping hotspots like CentralWorld and Siam. It’s well placed for exploring the city’s highlights, whether you’re hopping on the BTS or strolling to nearby malls and restaurants. 🛏 Room & Comfort: The rooms are stylish and spacious, harmonizing classic design with modern comforts. 🍽 Dining & Atmosphere: Hotel Muse offers several dining experiences, including a rooftop bar with skyline views and cocktails that capture the speakeasy vibe. 🌆 Facilities: The rooftop pool and fitness center are lovely perks, perfect for unwinding after a day out in the city. The rooftop speakeasy lounge, in particular, is a favorite spot for evening drinks and vibes. Cons: 📌 What to Know Before You Go: • The hotel’s dramatic lighting and vintage motif might feel too dark or heavy for travelers like me who prefer bright, modern interiors.

I stayed here a few times. Friends wonder why i choose to stay on the outskirts of Bangkok. It is actually not far from the Bangkok city centre. Just 3 stops on the train, and i am in Siam Paragon. And the station is less than 10 min walk from the hotel. Being a little out of the city centre allows me to be away from the crowd when i have done what i needed to do in the city centre. Hotels in the city centre tend to have many people around and in the lobbying. Pullman Kingpower's surroundings are much quieter and serene. It is good to have a place to get away from the crowds and congestion of the city centre Also, this hotel is huge with its surroundings uncluttered or congested by high-rise buildings. Kingpower duty-free shopping mall next door offers free coach transfers to the airport twice a day. There is no need to buy anything to get on the coach. It also offers a free access lounge if you need it. Transfers and lounge are only for customers of the hotel and the mall. Around the hotel, there are many small traditional Thai style shops, trendy cafes and decent massage services. There is also a cinema in a shopping mall nearby that has also a supermarket, foodcourt and many wonderful restaurants and eateries.

I enjoyed my stay at S15. The staff were friendly and supportive. The hotel is close to BTS Asok, Terminal 21, a night market and Korea town (which has some nice restaurants). During my stay I also enjoyed a great massage at the hotel. The only thing I would ask to improve is the room service. You receive information about food available for order to your room but when I called to order a snack they only had salad available which was unfortunate.

- Hotel room and service: Hotel room is great, cozy and spacious. Great service and staff responded to our requests for replenishments in the room promptly. - Breakfast: Wish they got a room-only option though, breakfast is till 10am, plenty of options, breakfast however was so-so. - Transport and distance: It took longer than we expected to walk from BTS Thonglor to the hotel, with luggage at least 15-18 min, without it, maybe 10-12min. - Shuttle: guess that’s why they provide shuttle, that’s very nice and thoughtful. We took it when we checked out and had to head to the BTS with our luggage. You could reserve it with the front office staff or you can call to reserve especially when you want it during their non-regular service time. - Pool, sauna and onsen: Facilities are great and clean. We had a great time and enjoyed it. - Supermarket and shopping: Marche is just right opposite to the hotel, and there’s also a supermarket there.

If the front desk assigns you a connecting room, make sure to ask them to change it immediately! Can you imagine how frustrating it is when someone suddenly moves into the room next to you at 5 AM, making loud noises and even awkwardly trying to open the connecting door? We requested a room change in the middle of the night, only to be given another connecting room. We finally got it sorted out the next morning, but our travel plans and mood were significantly impacted. The room facilities are generally standard and basic, with inconsistencies – some rooms have a microwave, others don't. On the upside, I must praise the Japanese hot spring on the 9th floor and the 24-hour common lounge; both were excellent.

I’ve been to Bangkok many times, and this is one of the best hotels I’ve stayed at so far. The staff are attentive, friendly, and very helpful. I had a small issue at the beginning of my stay, but they solved it quickly and even gave me a free room upgrade. They kindly allowed me early check-in and late check-out, depending on availability. The bed is very comfortable, and I slept very well throughout my stay. The hotel is close to Phrom Phong BTS Station, about an 8-minute walk away (not right at the doorstep). They provide a free hourly shuttle to the station, though I didn’t use it. Traffic in this area can be a bit heavy. There is a Japanese grocery store and a few convenience stores nearby. I would definitely stay here again if I return to this area. Keep up the good job SilQ team!

Great Stay at Baiyoke Sky Hotel Bangkok Nice hotel with an iconic tall tower, offering great views of Bangkok. The Space Zone rooms are comfortable, though being an older hotel, you can feel it in the rooms — but they are still quite comfortable for a pleasant stay. The hotel has everything — excellent location near shopping malls, comfortable rooms, wonderful staff, good restaurants, a sky bar, and a nice pool area. It’s also very close to street shopping, which is a big plus. A major advantage for Indian travelers is that there are many Indian restaurants nearby, and the hotel itself offers a full floor dedicated to Indian breakfast, which is very convenient. We enjoyed our stay here, the room is spacious and cleaned everyday. The buggy is a plus service as its about 15 to 20 minutes walk to the main streets. The breakfast buffet had varieties but some days are better than others. We stayed here for 5 days but it would have been better if we were able to avail of the free massage and traditional photo session. When we arrived, tried to make an appointment but they were already fully booked for the week so thats a waste of free amenities. The free dinner was mostly spicy food so didnt enjoy that. Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort was a perfect vacation experience. The hotel is located right on the Chao Phraya River, offering fantastic views. From a river-view room, you can catch the sunrise, and in the evenings, enjoy stunning golden sunsets and the dazzling lights of the night market across the river. The hotel's public areas resemble a tropical forest, making for great photo opportunities. The Ferris wheel night market is directly opposite, and the hotel's shuttle boat service is incredibly convenient. The location is excellent, just a few steps from Platinum Shopping Mall and very close to the Central area. Do note that Platinum is more of a budget shopping mall, so don’t expect luxury brands. For Siam area shopping malls, you’ll need to take a taxi. The swimming pool was a highlight, especially for our kids. It has a nice view, making it a relaxing place for both adults and children to unwind after a day out in the city. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety, although the coffee was quite bitter and could be improved. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a 500-baht voucher to use at the hotel’s Thai restaurant. It was a great opportunity for us to explore Thai food, and we really enjoyed the dining experience there. Overall, it was a very enjoyable, family-friendly stay, and we would happily return again.

The hotel's service was incredibly attentive and proactive; everything was handled quickly, especially in the lobby. When I looked around, the lobby manager immediately came over to ask if I needed help. When I gave the taxi driver 1000 baht and he said he couldn't break it, the bellhop instantly offered to help and came back with ten 100-baht notes. Just from a glance, they knew exactly what I needed. The hotel's location is also very convenient. Food delivery is fast, and it's easy to get to various city attractions, being right next to the Pixel Building and Empire Tower. There's even a 7-Eleven inside the hotel, which made traveling with kids very comfortable. Breakfast was okay, neither outstanding nor terrible. However, if we didn't ask specifically, they always seated us, the polite queue-followers, at the furthest tables. It was quite a trek to get food with a child. By the third day, we insisted on sitting closer to the inside, and there were indeed available tables. The only downsides were the pool being too small, and at night, the water was very cold and the lighting was dim. If the kids wanted to swim, it was either under the scorching sun or in the dark. Finally, a big thanks to the restaurant staff who helped find my child's spoon. It was similar to the hotel's own, which was a real lifesaver.

Location is very convenient, just a 2-3 minute walk from Nana BTS. The nearby Anytime Fitness is also very accessible for guests who want to get some training in. The staff are consistently polite and warm, and their mannerisms never feel performative. The room was spacious and clean, I stayed in a premium corner room, so I had more space. The work desk was just right for getting work done on my laptop, and the bathtub was perfect for a warm soak after Muay Thai training. Laundry service was very fast. I handed my laundry to them before 11am and it was returned by around 3–4pm the same day. Do note that during periods of high laundry volume, it may take slightly longer, but they do their best to return it on the same day if submitted before 11am. Room service was also efficient. Although I was quoted a 30-minute wait, my order arrived within 15 minutes. The table was set properly, and the staff plated everything nicely. Special shoutout to all the staff who made me feel very welcomed, from housekeeping to the front desk, security, and doormen. Their warm hospitality truly made me feel at home. I’ll definitely be back next year after Songkran.

The room facilities are a bit old and could use an update, and there aren't enough charging outlets by the bed. However, the room size is generous, and the view is excellent. The service, though, is absolutely impeccable. The location is also fantastic and super convenient; everything is nearby, and it's within walking distance of a large mall.

Stayed at The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, Bangkok during our New Year family trip and had a very enjoyable experience. The hotel is very family-friendly, with spacious rooms that comfortably accommodated us after long days of sightseeing and shopping. Cleanliness was well maintained, and the beds were comfortable, which is important when traveling with children. The location is excellent — close to Platinum Mall, Pratunam Market, and many food options, making it very convenient for families. Breakfast offered a good variety, suitable for both adults and kids. Despite the busy New Year season, the staff were polite, helpful, and well organized. A nice highlight was being able to experience the New Year festive atmosphere and nearby fireworks and walking distance to new year count down at CentralWorld, which made the trip even more memorable for the whole family. Overall, a great choice for families looking for comfort, convenience, and a lively New Year experience in Bangkok. Would gladly stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful. However everything didn’t quite measure up to my expectations. When I went online to book it and looked at the details of the hotel it said they offered a shuttle but when I asked about a Shuttle, they seemed confused about what I was inquiring about. Also, it asked for the details of why I was staying as if they were going to accommodate me in someway, I put that it was my birthday, but there was nothing in the room nor did they reference it at check-in. Once again the room was beautiful. It looks very nice. However it was not clean. The refrigerator was dirty and it had hair in it. The trash cans were clearly dirty, I had to call to have the fridge cleaned multiple times. The first time housekeeping came and simply used a dry rag to dust the refrigerator, but did not clean it. The second time I waited in the room and explained to her that I wanted it to be actually cleaned, remove the dirt and hair and use some cleaner. A pro and con they do have drink specials. Buy one get one free happy hour every day however, the drinks don’t appear to have any liquor in them. I had a Mai Tai and a piña colada and it was like drinking juice, nasty juice. 😑 What I did like was of course that it is definitely aesthetically pleasing. They also have a laundry room and they do give you change at the Front desk so that was nice. Also, it was closer to the mall and restaurants than the last place I stayed at so that was good and it wasn’t as far from the airport.

Mercure is my families most favorite hotel. We’ve been there roughly 10 times. It is our go to spot. This time around we were shocked that one of the employees was very rude. Her name was KATE! She gave me an extremely hard time at checkout I was a few minutes late and had my two little children with me and she felt the need to remind me 8 times while I was checking out. In the future I will definitely deal with a different person and she almost had me choose another hotel on our way back. Horrible customer service by KATE! I will be contacting Mercure headquarters being that I have stayed at 23 of their locations. Other than that our stay was amazing.

My previous stay in this hotel was about 7 years ago. Comparing my two experiences, the facility has run down a lot. They have to upkeep this with a throughout renovation, especially the rooms. It was sad to see they suspended the tuk tuk pick up service between the hotel and the entrance to Sukhumvit road.

The hotel is decent, I guess, considering that it's inexpensive. BUT they had spider webs in the bathroom and so many ants crawling around. I requested a room change and the staff was more than willing to help. Although there were spider webs and spiders even in the 2nd room, it cleaner compared to the first one.

I really enjoyed my stay at Horu Hotel Manga Dua Square. The hotel has a great location inside the Manga Dua area, making it very convenient for shopping, dining, and transportation. Everything I needed was nearby, which made my trip much easier. The room was clean, comfortable, and well organized with complete basic amenities. The bed was cozy, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Housekeeping did a good job keeping the room fresh every day. The hotel environment felt safe and quiet, allowing me to rest well after a long day. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help with any questions or requests. Check-in and check-out were smooth and fast. Overall, the hotel offers excellent value for money considering the location and service quality. I would definitely stay here again and recommend Horu Hotel Manga Dua Square to travelers visiting Jakarta for both business and leisure.
