Best Things to Do in Kuching for Your Perfect Getaway | Trip.com

Gambar Profil Penulis

My first thoughts of Kuching were of lush greenery, serene river views, and the unique charm of Sarawak’s capital city. Kuching, with its blend of colonial architecture, local heritage, and laid-back atmosphere, feels like a peaceful retreat compared to the fast pace of Kuala Lumpur. Life here moves slower, and it's easy to unwind—whether you're taking a leisurely walk along the Kuching Waterfront or exploring the quiet lanes of Carpenter Street, there’s a calming rhythm to the city.

Malaysians will enjoy the local shopping experience, from traditional handicraft shops to weekend markets offering Sarawak souvenirs and unique finds. The food scene is a true highlight—think hearty laksa, crispy midin belacan, and fresh seafood that suits every taste and budget. If you’re looking to relax, Kuching also offers wellness options, including massage parlours and day spas. Wondering where to stay in Kuching? You’ll find everything from affordable guesthouses to boutique hotels with plenty of character.

I rarely leave comments, but after this trip, I feel the need to do so—overall, it was quite disappointing. This morning at breakfast, I found a dead mosquito on my plate and requested a replacement. However, the plate was returned to me, and it appeared to be the same one, with a mosquito leg still on it (I didn’t manage to take a photo). I’ve included another photo showing a cockroach leg in the room, which reflects my concern about the overall cleanliness. Service was also lacking. There was no proper introduction to the resort upon arrival. When we asked a staff member how to get to the beach, they simply nodded without giving any directions or confirming if access was allowed. We had to find our own way, which is not acceptable given the price point. That said, the room itself was excellent, especially the décor and the bathroom. However, for the mangrove room, be prepared for a noticeable (and somewhat unpleasant) mangrove smell, which makes the balcony less enjoyable.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Stay & Delicious Dinner I had a very pleasant stay at Riverside Majestic Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. One of the highlights was having dinner at the Puteri Lounge. I enjoyed the braised beef short ribs served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The beef was tender, flavorful, and very satisfying. I also had a hot cup of coffee, which was the perfect complement to the meal. Overall, it was a relaxing stay with good food, great service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Kuching. Highly recommended! 😊

As the first person to write a review, I have to praise this hotel. It was my first business trip to Kuching, and this hotel suddenly appeared on the 18th. There were no reviews, which made me worried I might have a bad experience. I checked online and found it was part of the IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) group, and it was a renovated older hotel. After checking in, I felt it was incredibly good value for the price. The hotel's decor was grand and unique, with a youthful and stylish design. Many corners featured thoughtfully placed furniture and artwork. The facilities were excellent. Because the hotel is new, every corner of the room was spotless. As someone who travels frequently for business, I'm very particular about hotel cleanliness, and this hotel truly didn't disappoint. The front desk staff were very polite and welcoming. The bedding was very comfortable and soft, and I slept very well. The bathrobes were also of high quality, the towels were clean, and the toiletries smelled wonderful. The breakfast was plentiful with many choices, and I heard the dinner was also good. This hotel truly exceeded my expectations. Before this, I was torn between two other five-star hotels in Kuching, but after this comparison, I won't have to worry about choosing another one. Voco just opened on June 18th, and I still feel a slight smell of renovation. It gets better after turning on the air conditioning and ventilating. If you mind the smell of renovation, you can move in after September; I think the smell should dissipate by then. It's only about a 10-minute walk from the airport, and it's also about a 10-minute walk to popular spots like the Seaside Plaza. The location is very convenient. If I come here for business again, I will definitely choose this place without hesitation.

Had a pleasant stay at the hotel. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, offering good value for money. The hotel is convenient located near the airport and connected to a shopping mall, making it easy to access food and essential. Breakfast was enjoyable with good variety of options, and the staff were generally friendly and helpful. However, there was a blackout during my stay that lasted more than 30 minutes, and it appeared that there was no backup generator available. Fortunately, it occurred in the early morning when there was some natural light. It would have been more challenging if it had happened at night. This is an area the hotel need to look into. Overall, still a comfortable stay, but improvements in this aspect would enhance the experience further.

This is a classic older hotel. The biggest highlight is definitely the great views and relaxing atmosphere, especially the balcony area which is very comfortable and offers excellent scenery. We stayed in a triple room. The room itself felt quite old, and the facilities clearly showed their age. As for cleanliness, it was a case of 'looks okay on the surface, but the details are lacking.' For instance, there were some less-than-clean marks on the sheets, and while the towels had clearly been washed, their dark color wasn't ideal. The bathroom's cleanliness was also just average; not overtly dirty, but not meticulously clean either. Overall, the hotel's strong points are its views and location. However, there's room for improvement regarding the room's hardware and the detailed cleanliness. It's best suited for guests who prioritize scenic views and are less sensitive about the age of the accommodations.

The hotel shows its age, but overall it is still well-maintained and perfectly acceptable for the price point. While the design and furnishings feel a little dated, everything was generally clean and in working order, making it a practical and comfortable stay rather than a luxurious one. On the positive side, the location is definitely a strong advantage the hotel is conveniently close to a mall and several attractions, making it easy to get around and find food or entertainment. Overall, it’s a decent, budget-friendly option if you value location and practicality over modern facilities. I stay at 1601 room with very nice panoramic view of waterfront Kuching. Kindly clean up the window, with this view, I feel my stay is worth with price I stay.

Overall, I had a pleasant stay at Lot 10, Kuching. The staff were friendly, parking was convenient, and the room amenities were well provided. Towels were clean and had no unpleasant smell. The only downside was that the soundproofing could be better, as I could hear traffic and noise from the next room. Also, the shelf under the TV was a bit dusty. Still, a good stay overall.

For me, Imperial Suites Serviced Apartment Kuching is in a very convenient location, especially since it’s close to Boulevard Shopping Mall and other nearby shops, so it’s easy for me to find food, groceries, and anything I need. I like that everything is within short distance, so it feels more lively compared to staying far from the city. The apartment-style setup is also nice because it’s more spacious and suitable if I’m staying longer or with family. The room is big, very nice, and really comfortable, which made my stay even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a comfortable and convenient place for me, especially because of the easy access to shopping and daily essentials.

I recently stayed at Kingwood Hotel Kuching for 6 days and 5 nights, and overall it was a pleasant experience. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained throughout my stay. Housekeeping was consistent, and the staff were friendly and helpful whenever I needed assistance. One highlight of my stay was the dining experience at the hotel. I had dinner there, and the food was surprisingly good, with a nice variety of dishes and satisfying flavors. It was convenient to have quality meals available without needing to go far. The hotel’s location is also quite practical, making it easy to get around Kuching and explore nearby attractions. While the facilities are fairly standard, they meet expectations for a comfortable stay. Overall, Kingwood Hotel Kuching offers good value for money, especially for a longer stay. I would consider staying here again in the future.

Been years and many occasion it has been our choice of short stay in kuching especially if we did come in with a rental vehicle , it is very convenience in and out from many side of the road when we need to avoid road congestion on busy hours . On our last stay we did have some issue of being framed of a cracked glasses as we check in very late and went straight to bath and rest of the night, lucky we did notice the crack glass but thought it would be bery common as we expect of quite budget stay and it happen the next day while we re out around kuching being message of we need to pay for the glass because hotel front desk says we broke it . Anyway long story short , at that late evening while being back to the hotel , we went to the front desk just to make sure if they're are really seriously asking us to pay for the glasses . We are bit furious cause we did not broke it as it is as it is prior we checked in, just to make sure , i did ask the front desk to make sure and reconfirm it they really want us to pay for it , that they can charge us prior we re checking out the next early morning. But to our surprise the next morning while we're checking out , the feont desk did not bring that issue up anymore.
