Chengdu, the gateway to giant pandas and Sichuan’s famous spicy cuisine, has a climate that adds its own flavour to your trip.

Spring in Chengdu is pleasantly cool, with blooming flowers and fresh greenery—perfect for a relaxed stroll in People’s Park or a visit to the panda base. Summer can get quite warm and humid, but it’s also the season to enjoy iced Sichuan teas or escape to the nearby mountains like Qingcheng Shan for some fresh air. Autumn is crisp and comfortable, making it the best time for food hunting in Jinli Street or taking a scenic walk along the river. Winter in Chengdu is cold but not extreme; misty mornings give the city a mysterious charm, and it’s the coziest season to warm up with authentic hotpot.

As a Malaysian traveller, I find Chengdu enjoyable in every season—whether it’s spring blossoms, autumn colours, or simply sipping tea while watching locals play mahjong, each visit feels like discovering a new side of the city.
