Japan is famous for its efficient train system, but taxis can be surprisingly useful during your trip🚕. Whether you're arriving at the airport with heavy luggage, traveling late at night after the last train, or simply looking for a more comfortable way to get around, taking a taxi can save both time and energy⚡.

What I love most about taxis in Japan is how clean, safe, and reliable they are. The service is excellent, the doors open automatically, and many drivers will even help with your luggage. Plus, with modern taxi apps, booking a ride is now easier than ever. In this guide, we'll cover everything you need to know about taking taxis in Japan, including the different taxi types, best taxi booking apps, fare rates, payment methods, and useful tips for a smooth journey.

🚖 Different Types of Taxis in Japan

Japan Taxi

If it's your first time taking a taxi in Japan, you might notice that taxis come in different shapes, sizes, and service levels. Unlike some countries, Japan doesn't have a standard taxi color, so don't be surprised if you see black, white, silver, or even colorful taxis on the road.

The easiest way to identify a legitimate taxi is to look for the illuminated roof sign and a green license plate (or a black plate with yellow characters for certain commercial vehicles). If you see a regular white private car without these features, don't assume it's a taxi.

Here are the main types of taxis you'll find in Japan:

🚕 Standard Taxi

This is the most common type of taxi and the one most tourists will use. You'll find them everywhere, from airports and train stations to busy city streets. Standard taxis are comfortable, clean, and suitable for 1–4 passengers.

💡 Best for: Everyday travel, sightseeing, and short-distance trips.

🚖 JPN Taxi (Universal Design Taxi)

The JPN Taxi is Japan's newer taxi model designed to be more accessible and spacious. It features a higher roof, sliding doors, and extra luggage space, making it popular with tourists carrying large suitcases.

💡 Best for: Airport transfers, families, and travelers with luggage.

🚐 Jumbo Taxi

Traveling with a group? A Jumbo Taxi can accommodate more passengers than a standard taxi, usually up to 6–9 people depending on the vehicle.

💡 Best for: Families, friend groups, and travelers with multiple suitcases.

Premium or Luxury Taxi

Some taxi companies offer higher-end vehicles with premium services, larger seats, and experienced drivers. These are commonly found in major cities like Tokyo and Osaka.

💡 Best for: Business travelers, special occasions, and those looking for extra comfort.

✈️ Airport Taxi

Many taxi companies offer dedicated airport transfer services that can be booked in advance through an app or online. While generally more expensive than public transport, they're incredibly convenient if you're arriving with heavy luggage or landing late at night.

💡 Best for: Direct airport-to-hotel transfers and stress-free arrivals.

📱 Best Taxi Booking Apps in Japan

While it's still easy to find taxis at train stations, airports, and busy streets, using a taxi app is often the most convenient option for travelers. You can book a ride in advance, view estimated fares, track your driver, and pay digitally, ALL from your phone📲.

📲 How to Book a Taxi in Japan

Japan Taxi Guide

Method 1: Book a Taxi Using an App

If you're using apps like GO Taxi, S.RIDE, Uber, or DiDi, simply follow these steps:

📲 Step

💡 What to Do

1️⃣ Open the app

Launch your preferred taxi booking app.

2️⃣ Enter your destination

Type in your hotel, attraction, restaurant, or address.

3️⃣ Confirm your pickup location

Use GPS or manually select your location.

4️⃣ Choose your taxi type

Select a standard taxi or other available options.

5️⃣ Check the estimated fare

Review the expected fare and waiting time.

6️⃣ Confirm your booking

Tap "Book" or "Request Ride".

7️⃣ Wait for your driver

Track your taxi in real time through the app.

8️⃣ Enjoy your ride

Arrive at your destination and pay via the app or your chosen payment method.

Method 2: Hail a Taxi on the Street

In busy areas like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, you can simply flag down a taxi from the roadside. Look at the sign displayed in the front windshield:

Hailing Japan Taxi

💡 Sign Status

❓ Meaning

🔴 Red Sign

Taxi is available for hire

❌ Blank / Other Sign

Taxi is occupied or unavailable

When you see an available taxi, raise your hand and wait for it to pull over safely.

Method 3: Use a Taxi Stand

Taxi stands are common throughout Japan and can usually be found at:

  • 🚉 Major train stations
  • ✈️ Airports
  • 🏨 Hotels
  • 🏬 Shopping malls
  • 🎡 Popular tourist attractions

Simply join the queue and wait for the next available taxi. This is often the easiest option if you're carrying luggage.

Taxi Stand

Method 4: Ask Your Hotel to Call One

If you don't have a taxi app or are staying at a hotel, simply ask the front desk staff to arrange a taxi for you. Many hotels can:

  • ✅ Book a taxi immediately
  • ✅ Schedule a pickup for a specific time
  • ✅ Help communicate your destination to the driver

This option is especially useful for airport transfers or early-morning departures.

💰 Japan Taxi Fares Explained

One thing that surprises many first-time visitors is that taxis in Japan are generally more expensive than in many other Asian countries. However, they're also known for being incredibly clean, safe, and reliable, so you're paying for convenience and quality service. The good news is that you don't need to worry about negotiating prices. Japanese taxis use meters, and fares are regulated.

🔍 Charge Type

❓ What It Means

🚕 Initial Fare

A fixed starting fare charged when your journey begins.

📍 Distance Charge

The fare increases gradually as the taxi travels further.

⏱️ Waiting Time Charge

Additional charges apply when the taxi is stuck in traffic or waiting.

🌙 Late-Night Surcharge

Higher fares usually apply during late-night hours.

🛣️ Toll Charges

Expressway and highway tolls are added to your final fare if used.

💵 Typical Taxi Fare Examples

The exact fare varies depending on the city, traffic conditions, and route taken, but here's a rough idea of what travelers can expect:

💡 Journey

💰 Estimated Fare (RM)

Short ride within city centre (1–2 km)

RM15–RM30

10-minute city ride

RM30–RM60

20-minute city ride

RM60–RM120

Tokyo Station → Shinjuku

RM45–RM75

Kyoto Station → Gion

RM30–RM55

City Centre → Airport

RM150–RM450+

💳 How to Pay for Taxis in Japan

Tokyo Taxi Pay

💴 Cash

Cash is still one of the safest payment methods when taking a taxi in Japan. Most taxis accept Japanese yen, and drivers usually carry enough change for smaller notes.

💡 Tip: It's a good idea to keep some Japanese yen with you, especially when taking taxis in smaller cities or rural areas where cashless payment may not always be available.

💳 Credit & Debit Cards

Many taxis in major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto accept international credit cards such as:

  • ✅ Visa
  • ✅ Mastercard
  • ✅ JCB
  • ✅ American Express

Simply let the driver know you want to pay by card before completing the ride. Some older taxis may still be cash-only, so it's better not to rely on cards 100%.

📱 Mobile Payments & IC Cards

Japan has become much more cashless-friendly, and many taxis now accept:

  • ✅ Suica
  • ✅ PASMO
  • ✅ ICOCA
  • ✅ Apple Pay / Google Pay (depending on the service)
  • ✅ Other local mobile payment methods

For travelers using public transport cards like Suica or PASMO, being able to use the same card for taxis can be very convenient.

🚕 In-App Payment

If you book through taxi apps like GO Taxi, S.RIDE, Uber, or DiDi, you can usually pay directly through the app. This is one of the easiest options because:

  • ✅ You don't need to prepare cash
  • ✅ Payment is completed automatically
  • ✅ You can see the fare before or after the ride
  • ✅ No language barrier when paying

💡 Must-Know Tips Before Taking a Taxi in Japan

Japan Taxi

🚪 1. Don’t Open the Taxi Door Yourself

One of the first things that surprises many tourists is that Japanese taxi doors open automatically. When the taxi stops, simply wait for the driver to open the rear door using a remote control. After getting in, the driver will also close the door automatically.

📍 2. Prepare Your Destination Before Getting In

Not all taxi drivers in Japan speak English, especially outside major tourist areas. To make communication easier, prepare your destination in advance:

  • ✅ Show the address on Google Maps
  • ✅ Save the Japanese name of your hotel or attraction
  • ✅ Take a screenshot of your destination

💴 3. Check the Fare Before Long Rides

Japan taxis use meters, so you don't need to negotiate the price. However, longer journeys can become expensive quickly. Before taking a taxi for a long distance, especially to airports or attractions outside the city, it's a good idea to:

  • ✅ Check the estimated fare on a taxi app
  • ✅ Compare the cost with trains or buses
  • ✅ Confirm if highway tolls are included

🚕 4. Queue Properly at Taxi Stands

At busy locations like airports, train stations, and tourist attractions, taxis usually line up at designated taxi stands. Simply join the queue and wait for your turn. Avoid approaching random taxis waiting in line, as they are usually assigned in order.

🙅‍♀️ 5. No Tipping Needed

Unlike some countries, tipping is not part of Japanese taxi culture. Simply pay the exact fare shown on the meter (or the app), collect your belongings, and thank the driver with a polite "Arigatou gozaimasu" (Thank you).

Beyond being a bit of a walk from the subway, everything else was impeccable. The room was spacious, and the corner glass windows offered great views. The tower building was affordable, unlike the main building which was out of my price range. The garden was expansive, though the cherry blossoms weren't in full bloom yet, so there weren't many flowers. The lower floors are all shopping malls; you can spend a lot of time just wandering around the hotel, from the tower to the main building. It's a great way to pass the time.

The location is incredibly convenient, especially if you're planning to shop in Tokyo, particularly Ginza. You should definitely consider staying here. Since it's a 'premium' property, the overall feel is a step up from the usual Mitsui Garden hotels. The breakfast spread is fantastic, and while the room is a tad small, it's perfectly acceptable.

From the moment I checked in, I didn't have to lift a finger; my luggage was taken directly to my room by a dedicated staff member. 1. Only some room types include a complimentary first round from the minibar; other rooms only get free bottled water. 2. The toiletries are all by Mikimoto. 3. The 17th-floor buffet restaurant requires a queue number to be seated. If you're on a tight schedule, I recommend getting there early to get a number. 4. The main facilities are in the main building. To get to the tower, you need to take an elevator to the M floor and then transfer via a hallway.

The hotel's location is excellent, right next to Tokyo Dome City – which has everything from shows to dining and entertainment. There's a spacious and comfortable outdoor area, and even amusement park rides like roller coasters, making it super convenient if you're traveling with kids. You can reach the subway and train stations in just a few minutes on foot, making getting around a breeze. The room was quite spacious. Although the facilities aren't brand new, it was very clean and tidy. There are several high-speed scenic elevators that offer great city views. Our room happened to overlook the beautiful Tokyo Dome City, which was stunning both day and night. The lobby is grand and spacious, and there's an automatic foreign currency exchange machine available.

The staff is very professional and friendly. Its a very Japanese style service, smiles but professional and quick and blunt. Overall stay experience is very good as view is best if you are facing Tokyo tower. Property is very big and complex, so be prepared to spend alot of time wandering around. There are a few metro/subway lines. However, you need to walk around 10-15minutes to reach them.

Room and bed were very comfortable, immaculately clean and modern. 2 mins walk from train station, if you need lift access to train then a 6 mins walk, we had a stroller. Breakfast was a bit of a zoo, we went during Christmas, very busy! But tables were spacious so even though there were so many people you don’t feel cramped. Good variety of food selection. We had dinner at the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. Delicious, especially the tuna salad. I found the lobby staff a little lack of personality, at check in, no mentioning of where breakfast will be, what time check out is. Just checked you in and that’s it, no personal notes in the room. When I expressed I’ve lost my phone at the shop in Tokyo, no sign of empathy (it was a western male staff) no gesture of helpfulness, very cold and robotic. This goes for concierge also, he is an older western gentleman, he needs to use Google translate also which is frustrating cause I could do exactly the same research with Google translate. Overall, hardware is solid, need to fine tune the staff, sprinkle a little bit of personality in them.

This hotel is super convenient, right by the Odaiba metro station – you can see it as soon as you exit! It was really easy to get to my exhibition, just a few stops away. The room was spacious enough, and for Tokyo, you get great value for your money at this price point. Plus, there's a mall nearby, so dining options are plentiful. The hotel isn't right next to a subway station, but the shuttle bus service is super convenient, running every 15 minutes to and from Meguro Station. It pretty much covers all your transportation needs. It wasn't until after we checked out that we realized they'd upgraded our room type! It was definitely bigger, and we could easily spread out three 28-inch suitcases, which was really handy. The only downside was that the facilities felt a bit old. Even though it had been renovated, there was still an unpleasant smell from the sink drain in the bathroom.

This was my second stay here. My last visit was around Christmas last year, and they've since renovated all the rooms! The sofa and bed are new, and even the faucets in the modular bathroom have been replaced. It's a great choice for shoppers, as it's incredibly close to the luxury brand street (though Cartier was under renovation). It's also super close to the Montbell store in Kyobashi. Plus, there's a new Starbucks downstairs and three convenience stores (7-Eleven, Lawson, Family Mart). Getting to Narita Airport from Takaracho Station is a quick 7-8 minute walk.

The service here is truly excellent. The moment you walk into the lobby, you're struck by how spacious and clean it is, and the staff are always incredibly attentive. The location is fantastic too. If you exit Tsukiji from exit 3b, you'll be at the hotel entrance in no time. The closest convenience store is a 7-Eleven, followed by FamilyMart and Lawson, so grabbing food or anything else you need is super convenient. As for the room, yes, it's small, but that's pretty standard for Tokyo. However, all the facilities are spotless and brand new, giving it a very tidy feel. I have to especially praise the bathroom; the hairdryer and showerhead are from the famous Japanese brand Refa. Plus, the complimentary amenities in the lobby are from Sekkisei. I arrived at 2:15 PM, before check-in time, and stored my luggage. After a quick stroll around the area, I returned to find my bags already neatly placed in my room. When I needed more water, the front desk delivered it to my room in an instant. The room itself was very quiet and well-equipped with all necessary amenities. For such a central location, the value for money is outstanding. It was 5:30 PM in Otemachi, Tokyo, and a massive halo, like a holy light, enveloped the area, reflecting the silhouette of the world's most beautiful CBD on the glass facade of Otemachi Tower. Perched atop this magnificent skyscraper, Aman Tokyo, which stunned the world a decade ago, remains an unparalleled benchmark for modern city hotels. |The soaring 30-meter high atrium, crafted with washi lanterns, wood textures, and concrete and rock, creates a 'dry landscape' garden in the urban clouds. |The view facing the Imperial Palace is arguably Tokyo's most beautiful skyline (it ruthlessly trumps the already impressive view from the neighboring Bulgari). |While the ambiance at Arva, the Italian restaurant on the other side of the lobby, is superb, the food wasn't to my taste. What truly impressed me is how many features are packed into such a compact space. They have a coin-operated laundry and a large public bath. The room, which I'd estimate at about 20 square meters, even managed to fit bunk beds (1.2m/1.5m), making it very family-friendly. Hoshinoya Tokyo is situated in a tower in Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, uniquely blending a traditional Japanese garden with a high-rise hotel concept. While its immediate surroundings are dominated by corporate offices like Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, its location isn't as prime as other similarly priced luxury hotels such as The Peninsula Tokyo or Bulgari, with a noticeable lack of nearby dining options or convenience stores. The service, on the other hand, truly made guests feel at home. Each floor boasts a dedicated Japanese-style common area, but the atmosphere felt a bit too rigid or rule-bound. For example, when I asked for a second welcome dessert, it wasn't possible. However, I would strongly advise against staying here for a business trip. Firstly, the hotel's policy of not allowing unregistered guests to enter is quite inconvenient and arguably unsuitable for a business-oriented establishment. Secondly, the hotel itself offers a rich array of experiences – from its two-Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant to kimono fittings, tea ceremonies, kendo classes, hot springs, and sightseeing bicycles. These features highlight its strong appeal for leisure travel, making it less ideal for business.

Staff went above and beyond to support when we had a slight issue with the room (which felt well proportioned compared to other hotel rooms in Japan), and the brekkie buffet was great and just what we needed before a long flight.

I called many times to confirm the room before check-in, and I still couldn't connect all the rooms on the day of check-in. Let the guests wait at the front desk for nearly 30 minutes. Before arriving at the hotel, I called the front desk. I had a lot of luggage, and I hoped to welcome them. When I got off at the hotel gate, I waited for 10 minutes and no one greeted me. I went to the lobby and pushed the trolley with the waitress at the front desk to pick up my luggage. The white uniforms passing by The older Japanese bellman turned a blind eye and had a bad attitude. Without confirming the luggage, he put all the staff's luggage in the boss's room without authorization. No apology after taking out the luggage. The room faces the train track, and you will hear the sound of the train, which will affect your rest. An impressive experience.

The room had a fantastic view from the window, and the bathroom featured a well-designed three-part separation for the toilet, shower, and sink, making for a comfortable stay. The large public bath on the 14th floor was also excellent; after a soak, I enjoyed a free ice pop in the lounge area while admiring the night view. There was even free late-night ramen served from 10 PM to 11:30 PM, and breakfast was an impressive spread of seafood. Overall, it was a wonderful and relaxing stay, and I would definitely choose to stay here again in the future.

I really love this hotel and have stayed here multiple times. The location is excellent, right by the Marunouchi North Exit of Tokyo Station, just across the traffic light. It's also very close to the Imperial Palace, making it super convenient for shopping, dining, and sightseeing. This time, I noticed some changes: the twin beds were wider, and the 8th-floor breakfast is now entirely self-service.

Excellent, very satisfied. The daily cleaning service is a rare find, and they offer a free shuttle to Disneyland (reservations required). The hotel rooms are spacious, and the airport shuttle drops you off right at the hotel entrance. I even got a room with a view of Mount Fuji!

Great stay at The Blossom Hibiya. It is located in a business district, which may not suit everyone, but it made it very easy to commute around Tokyo. The hotel itself was modern, clean, and comfortable, with helpful staff and a calm atmosphere after a busy day out. The laundry facilities were also very good and convenient. Would happily stay again.

As much I would love to write 100% positive there was one thing I was not satisfied about. Despite being Loyal Hilton member I request for higher floor which is the least they could do but they put me on lowest possible. Beside that hotel and rest of the stuff was top notch. Definitly good pick while in Tokyo

Staying at this luxury hotel, nestled within a historic building at Tokyo Station, was an absolute delight. Both the facilities and services were outstanding. The shower and faucet in the room felt incredibly luxurious – a truly 'premium' experience. The hotel's long guest room corridors, with their wall sconces, created a wonderfully warm and inviting sense of depth. A major highlight was the hotel's breakfast and its setting. Served on the 4th floor, the breakfast offered a rich and diverse selection. The peaked, herringbone-patterned ceiling, with one side a wooden roof and the other a light-transmitting glass roof equipped with awnings, filled the space with bright, natural light, making for a truly comfortable start to the day.

During this trip, I experienced two different room types at the Grand Nikko Tokyo Daiba: a regular Executive Room and a Premier Rainbow Bridge side room. The Executive room allowed for a separate, convenient check-in area. The afternoon tea and dinner were quite simple but sufficient to tie me over. I later found out that the Fujiya peach soda in the lounge is a popular, hard-to-find drink. I really enjoyed it and recommend everyone try it. Regarding the size, facilities, and view of the rooms, the Rainbow Bridge side is significantly better. The room is larger, the bed is bigger, and the desk is spacious, perfect for working or doing makeup. It feels like every design detail was thoughtfully considered, and the hotel is very well-maintained, new, and clean – excellent! The location is convenient for taking the bus to the airport. Getting to Disneyland requires a few transfers, but a taxi takes only 20 minutes, which is quite fast. There are also many shopping malls nearby, but I couldn't find the supermarket that others mentioned in the reviews downstairs; I found the supermarket quite far. If you plan to have a late-night snack, I recommend buying it in advance. Overall, it's still very good. The location, value for money, and all other aspects are excellent. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next visit.

This hotel is super convenient, just a 5-6 minute walk from Roppongi Subway Exit 5, and you get to enjoy the twinkling Tokyo Tower lights on the way. My 5th-floor room offered street views and a glimpse of the Tokyo Tower, and it was really clean and quiet. I chose the twin bed option, and while the beds aren't small, they are placed right next to each other. The shower and bathtub get a big thumbs up – very well designed! The room isn't huge, but considering it's Roppongi in Tokyo, it's totally acceptable. The hotel breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very nice. The lobby also has good quality toiletries available, which you can pick up as needed. Shoutout to the nearby Taketora Ramen – fantastic! There's also a Don Quijote for some affordable shopping. Overall, I was very happy with my stay.

If 100 is a perfect score, this hotel has its pros and cons. The convenient location and room size both deserve a 90. The shower water pressure and the service from most of the staff are at least an 80. However, you can clearly hear the subway from the room, and even with the small window handle adjusted up or down, the noise persists. During my two-night stay, one night I couldn't fall asleep until the subway stopped running in the middle of the night. The next morning, I was woken up by the noise around 7 AM. I groggily recorded a video, but my phone's microphone near the bed didn't capture it well. The actual sound is about one to two times louder than what's in the video. The room also didn't provide earplugs, which is quite unbearable – I'm deducting 70 points for this. There were noticeable marks on the room walls and the bathroom floor, so I'm taking off another 50 points. The carpet is old and somewhat damaged, and the room looks dingy. For a room that costs over 1500 per night, this warrants another 60-point deduction. So, this is a hotel with overly distinct pros and cons.

The location is absolutely fantastic, directly accessible by subway. **Facilities:** Well-equipped and the space is quite generous, especially for a bustling city like Tokyo. **Hygiene:** Spotlessly clean and well-maintained. **Environment:** A classic five-star hotel. **Service:** Superb service, truly nice. The biggest advantage is definitely the location. Plus, there's a FamilyMart across the street, which is super convenient if you're in a hurry for breakfast or your stay doesn't include it. There's also an eatery downstairs. We initially booked for one night, but then decided to extend our stay for the following two nights here as well.

This hotel is conveniently located right next to Tokyo Station and a luxury shopping mall, making it super easy to get around and shop. The hotel entrance and lobby are a bit small, so you really have to look for it. If your room faces the central station, you might get some noise, even on higher floors. The staff are very welcoming, and there are even some who speak Chinese, providing professional and friendly service. Both the Italian and Japanese restaurants are excellent, though you'll need reservations. The turndown service also comes with unique little snacks, which is a nice touch. This is my second time staying here, and I still think it's well worth it.

I come to Tokyo several times a year, staying a fortnight or more each time. This time I spent seven nights at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu. The room faced Hie Shrine. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows I could see the shrine's copper roof and half of Tokyo's skyline. The décor was modern without excess; the layout flowed easily, Bose speakers hidden in the walls, another set in the bathroom ceiling, connected by a 3.5mm jack. The curtains were motorized, though you hardly needed to close them. The turndown service. I would leave in the evening and return late to find the room changed: only the hallway light and bedside lamp left on, a bottle of water and a glass on the nightstand, two chocolates beside them. The evening tea and teacup, previously stored in the cabinet, had been moved next to the coffee machine. These changes were so slight you had to think back carefully to confirm they had happened at all. The temperature and humidity had been adjusted. As if the room itself remembered your habits. Room service fell short of the ryokan in Hakone or Lake Toya, but well above the ordinary hotel. Each day I made two or three cups of complimentary coffee, played music, read, wrote. In seven days I finished three books. The research ahead began to take shape. There were drawbacks. No washing machine, but a decent laundromat ten minutes' walk away—a chance to wander the streets of Akasaka. The room provided HDMI and ethernet ports but no cables; for those who came to rest, perhaps a mercy. The minibar fridge was mostly occupied by drinks for purchase, same as the Imperial, though there was still room for my sparkling water. The day I left it was half past five and fully dark. I could barely make out the faces of the bellhop and the taxi driver. Together they loaded my luggage into the boot. I wished the bellhop a happy new year in Japanese and told her I liked her hat. She smiled and returned the greeting. As the taxi pulled out of the underground drive, I thought of the inns Kawabata once wrote about: what had to be sought in the mountains of snow country can now be reached by elevator from the B2 exit of a metro station. I have watched the Shinagawa Prince Hotel loosen quietly over time, slip a little. That kind of decline is rarely one great error. It begins the day someone forgets to leave a glass of water, neglects to move a packet of tea, omits a newspaper. As for The Capitol Hotel Tokyu: in Japanese, what I experienced over these seven days is called ちょうどいい.

The room is on the smaller side, but perfectly fine for a solo traveler. Having a capsule coffee machine is a nice touch. The hotel itself is a bit dated but quite large, and it seems to be popular, even designated for airline crews. Be prepared to queue for both check-in and check-out. Booking through Trip.com was very convenient and quick. The location is excellent, with direct shuttle buses to both Haneda and Narita airports, and another shuttle to Shinjuku Station. There's a 7-Eleven on the first floor, but you have to go outside to access it, you can't get there directly from inside the hotel. It's right next to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, and I'd recommend staying here just to try their canteen for lunch sometime – it's quite an interesting experience.

Let's start with the positives: The location and facilities are excellent, the room is spacious, and I even had a view of the Imperial Palace from my window. Although it was partially obstructed, considering I booked a basic room, it was more than acceptable. Upon arrival, the staff immediately helped with my luggage and inquired about my name, which was very thoughtful. Turndown service and replenishment of amenities in the evening were prompt. All staff members throughout the hotel were professional and responsive. Now for the negatives: I wouldn't call it discrimination, but it's clear the hotel primarily caters to and prioritizes Western guests (there were many Westerners staying there). They even offer gluten-free bread at breakfast. I was assigned a room on the lowest floor, the 8th floor, and I didn't see any Western guests on my floor. When using the elevators, they were always going to floors 10 and above. Additionally, a cart with spare amenities was constantly parked right outside my room door, which was quite an eyesore every time I opened it. I brought this up during check-out, but I doubt they'll take it seriously.

This was my first time visiting Tokyo, and I stayed at Agora for five days: 🤵‍♀️ During check-in, although the staff didn't speak Chinese, they provided detailed check-in instructions in Chinese. All the front desk staff I encountered during my stay had excellent attitudes.👍🏻 🧹 The hotel usually cleans rooms every three days. If you need daily cleaning, just put the magnetic sign from your room outside your door before noon on that day. 🛏️ I chose a twin room, and when I opened the door, I found they had pushed two single beds together. The size was decent, and two adults could sleep comfortably without feeling cramped. 📍 The location is excellent. Downstairs, there's a restaurant called Bansuke that serves delicious fried fish ochazuke. Just a short walk away, you'll find FamilyMart, Lawson, and 7-Eleven. There are also drugstores and restaurants at the large intersection outside. 🚇 Higashi-Ginza Station is just around the corner from the hotel entrance, making it very convenient to take the Asakusa Line and Hibiya Line. There's also an express train directly to the airport; just check Google Maps for the schedule. If you prefer to walk to Ginza Station, there's a dedicated underground passage, which is very convenient. 🛍️ If you want to go shopping, most malls are about a 10-minute walk away, and the street is quite lively. 💦 The only downside is that the room is indeed quite small, with barely enough space to lay one suitcase flat. But honestly, for this price, getting such a great location is already very satisfying. The experience was excellent, and I'm grateful to Agora for a wonderful memory of Tokyo.🥰

The hotel location is the best, only four minutes walk to the Tokyo station. The room size (17-sqm) is small which is pretty standard of Japanese hotel and good enough to sleep at night. From 11:00-22:00, there are free drinks, including water, soda, tea and coffee at the lobby which is very refreshing after a long day outside. There are also free amenities available for you to pick up at the check-in counter as well, such as facia mask, lotion, food pad, etc. The hotel staff can speak English very well and friendly.
