Hormis ce problème de code confidentiel non reçu le dimanche qui nous a valu de trouver une porte fermée et de ne pouvoir entrer et de ne pouvoir récupérer nos clés que grâce a un autre locataire, l’établissement et notre studio nous ont donné entière satisfaction : locaux propres et fonctionnels dans un environnement calme, personnel accueillant, bon rapport qualité prix en résumé.

I booked this hotel because, at a first glance, it looked just fine. Later, I realized I hadn’t read the reviews. That was a mistake. The heatwave in Europe is such that airconditioning is essential and when I did read the reviews of this hotel, I noticed it is an issue. I decided to ring them up, 5 days before we were due to arrive. I told the person on the phone that I was worried about the lack of airconditioning in their hotel, as per the many reviews I read. The receptionist said: “coincidentally, the airconditioning was repaired today”. Really? I double checked and asked her explicitly whether that was the case for the entire hotel. Upon arrival we were given our rooms. “Oh” the receptionist said, “as it happens, the airconditioning in one of the room’s doesn’t work”. Needless to say, I lost it. I confronted her with the telephone call I made and that this was totally unacceptable. I will leave it to the readers of this review what to make of this, I shall refrain of any further remarks. (Do read earlier reviews) In all fairness: the receptionist reacted politely and professionally. She rang up a manager and they offered us a relocation in another hotel. I had to decline this because I was traveling with a 90 year old woman and a relocation would have been too much. We had to put up with the situation. The hotel itself has a very attractive front of house. Nice architecture, wonderful terrace. The lobby and restaurant are stylish and inviting. The back of the house, however, is in sharp contrast with what I just described. The corridors, the lighting and the decor of the rooms are both dated and morose. A totally different style with a distinct lack of character. The phone didn’t work the shower in the bath was difficult to use without flooding the bathroom. The atmosphere was gloomy. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was good. Service in the restaurant was friendly and prompt. Breakfast was very mediocre and the coffee terrible. The hotel does not have a parking, which I understand. But many hotels in similar situations will have negotiated a discount with private parkings for their guests. This hotel had not. The receptionist we dealt with was excellent as well as the lovely barman, who offered a complimentary drink, following the upheaval about the airconditioning. (I could tell they were uneasy about this, because they are very aware of the problem) The staff in this hotel were great, the problem lies with arrogant management. I do not recommend staying in this hotel. I much prefer a hotel where customers are properly respected.

The hotel was fine - generally you know what you are getting in a Campanile, it's one of the older ones but was clean and the shower was great. The problem was the restaurant - after travelling for 8 hours we were told (on arrival) that teh restaurant was closed. The reason we use Campanile is that you the restaurants provide a decent meal and there i no hassle - but we then (after all that travelling) had the stress of trying to (1) find a restaurant (it is in a retail area of town), (2) find somewhere that was open (many restaurants in the area seemed to be closed on Sunday and (3) served reasonable food. We ended up in a Buffalo grill, which was pretty poor quality food. To be honest the receptionist wasn't overly helpful, didn't seem at all bothered by our plight and just pointed vaguely in the direction of the retail complex where there might be a restaurant. Would it have been so hard to drop us a line to say the restaurant was closed ? Then at least we could have made alternative arrangements in advance. I would not stay here again.

Je suis très mitigée concernant cet hôtel. Il y a du bon, et du beaucoup moins bon ! Pour les bons côtés, c'est la localisation de l'hôtel, on peut faire tout Châlons à pied, et en plus il y a un grand parking gratuit à 100 m ( parking Mathias pour les intéressés). Le personnel est très gentil ( surtout le monsieur qui fait les chambres). Pour les mauvais côtés, il y a beaucoup de choses à revoir. Il faut débrancher la télé pour l'éteindre, la bouilloire ne marche pas, et la clim fait du bruit même éteinte. La chambre n'est pas très grande et je ne comprends pas pourquoi la télé n'est pas en face du lit, et dans la salle de bains j'ai dû mettre ma trousse de toilette par terre car il n'y a aucune place à côté du lavabo ! Un bon conseil : ne prenez pas de valise lourde, il y a des escaliers partout et pas d'ascenseur.

Für die Fahrt in den Süden die Pause für die Nacht entpuppte sichb als ausgezeichnete Buchung. Nah an der Autobahn aber doch ruhig sowohl im Zimmer aber auch abends auf der Terasse, sehr zuvorkommend, deutschsprachig, sauber, genug Platz im Zimmer (wir waren mit einem 5jähriges Kind , reichhaltiges Frühstück, etc. Alles in allem sehr gut!
