We specifically visited Malapascua to dive with the thresher sharks — which was outstanding — but we were pleasantly rewarded with an amazing stay at Ocean Vida. The staff, food, bar, room, and dive center were all excellent and it was one of the highlights of our travels in the Philippines. Our fabulous bartender, Grace, was a true standout. The level of service and friendship was amazing, not to mention the best cocktails we’ve had in our month in the Philippines. We have no hesitation recommending a stay at Ocean Vida to any divers out there. PS - did we mention diving with the thresher sharks was an incredible experience? Don’t hesitate - book.

Due to a last minute decision, to sqeeze in a few nights at Malapascua Island, the better hotels like Tepanee were already booked out. Pro: + top location at the cliffs at western end of Bounty Beach, just a few minutes walk away from the restaurants + friendly and helpful staff + spacious Deluxe Suite w/ ocean view, overlooking the entire Bounty Beach while sitting on the balcony + fair room rates + arrangement of private car transfer from/to Cebu Airport on request was reliable and at a very reasonable rate +/- simple but ok breakfast Underwhelming: - very sp****ly furnitured ”Deluxe” suite - not bedside lamps and tables, not bedside light switch, no amenities other than a little shampoo bag and 2 t-paper rolls, kind of careless - bathroom wasn't clean at arrival, crooked bathroom door hinge. Bathroom door cold only be closed by application of force - during low tide very shallow, not swimmable beach Not the fault of the owner is a misleading foto, posted by a fellow traveller, that shows a swimming pool, which looks very nice. The only problem is, that it is from whatever Blue Corals Hotels elsewhere on the planet. But defo not from Blue Corals Malapascua, which neither has a pool, nor pretends to have one. I got trapped by this foto, too. Bottom line: Hotel ok for 3-5 nights, when the price is right, but not sure if I would book again.

Das Tepanee Resort kann eigentlich weiter empfohlen werden: - schlichte aber saubere Zimmer. Leider sind sie etwas hellhörig und man muss einfach Glück haben mit der Vergabe. Es gibt Bungalows, deren Terrasse komplett auf dem Weg liegen ohne Aussicht - was im Gegensatz zu anderen einfach schade wirkt. - ein schlichtes Frühstücksbufett, was leider erst ab 08:00 Uhr angeboten wird und somit für aktive Taucher, die dann schon auf dem Boot sind, verschenktes Geld ist. Hier sind die filipinischen Gerichte oft gut, das Obst und Gemüse aber arg lieblos angerichtet. Auch auf Nachfrage kann hier nix vorbereitet werden. Vor Allem wegen der tollen Lage würde ich das Resort gerne weiter empfehlen, weil es an einer sehr schönen und geschützten Bucht liegt, die vor Artenvielfalt nur so strotzt und ein Rückzugsort für junge schwarz spitzen riffhaie bietet. Hier kommt nun jedoch das Aber: - der Preis für die Zimmer ist mMn zu hoch - die Bucht wird vom Besitzer und den Angestellten kontrolliert und es wird darauf geachtet , dass schnorchler sich gut verhalten. Was an und für sich gut klingt, artet jedoch darin aus, dass über die Bucht oft geschrien, gepfiffen und mit dem Megafon gesprochen wird. Eine Absolut absurde Situation, in der der Inhaber des Resorts vermeintlich keine Lösungen findet, in Problemlage geratene Anfänger im Schnorcheln zu helfen (z.B. mit schwimmenden Ringen, an denen sie die Maske richten können/ die Betonklötze sind bereits am Boden) - sondern lediglich auf sehr ekelhafte Weise rummotzt. So wurde sogar von schnorchlern und Inhaber hin und her geschrien in der Bucht. Einfach unangenehm. Mein Tip: Nehmt ein preiswertes hotel und zahlt die 200php eintritt um vor Ort in der Bucht zu schnorcheln. Die Bucht lohnt sich, das Hotel mMn nicht.

One of the best PADI 5 Star resorts we have ever been to! Clean rooms, amazing food, excellent Diving Equipment anfäd affordable prices. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even transport organization was done by Evolution. Nothing to complain about. Our Dive Instructor Kleng and also all other dive masters are doing a great job. In teaching and also protecting the ocean! Of course we have seen the Thresher Sharks (basically 100% hitrate in our dives) sometimes more than 7 in one dive! The exotic resort is nice and staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was fine but pretty basic for the amount paid, there was an additional charge to have water in the room. The food was really good and they also had their own pizza oven which was great! Dive centre resort was super nice, they were very helpful and ran dives in very small groups. The thresher shark dives are amazing but are pretty far from the island. Finally the beach… there was rubbish all over the beach including plastic, bottles, can and glass. The locals and the staff didn’t seem bothered about the rubbish at all and it meant that not many people were leaving the hotel to visit the local village. If they cleaned up the island it could be great for diving tourist but at the moment I wouldn’t be in a rush to go back.

Este hotel es una maravilla. Es el más completo de la isla. Se darán cuenta desde la primera pisada de la belleza del lugar topandose con una estatua de buda enorme en un espacio abierto y de techo alto con vigas de madera y un jardín tropical (el camino a las habitaciones). Mi recomendacion: Despertar y tom**** un machiatto (acompañado de un dulce). Tom**** un baño en la playa (a 50 metros del hotel) A la vuelta tom**** un baño en el jacuzzi de hidromasaje (disponible para cualquier cliente y con la posibilidad de privatizarlo). Terminar el día con un masaje (el mejor del viaje) Finalmente, y con ayuda de éste último, dormir en habitaciones de ensueño con decoración casera, hecha a mano y con mucho gusto. Gracias por todo.
