Before the trip, Xiao Tian chatted with us via WeChat to ensure we get our desired room and choice of dinner menu. She then created a group chat with other service members, to ensure that all our requests and needs prior and during the stay are met. The service was really great. We changed our airport transfer to a dropoff to another hotel in Dunhuang city. We were upgraded to a tent and the facility was great. Room was exactly as shown on Trip. Plenty of water was provided in the room, which was convenient. We were there during low season and there were only a few guests, and it felt like we had the entire desert to ourselves and it was great to walk around and take photos.

The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!

The hotel looks really nice and will look great on anybody’s instagram. However, I had a room on the first (ground) floor and these should be avoided by anybody caring about privacy. One of the windows opened on the courtyard and the other opened on an alley, at street level. Anybody walking by inside or outside had a direct view inside the room.

Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff is super charming and kind and helpful The location is in the newly developed ”old street” which is very charming. In the area there are many restaurants and some bars. Yet the hotel is very quiet. There is underground parking and a lift directly from parking to hotel floors. The room is very well designed and well equipped. I particularly loved the fact that although I arrived around midnight I was able to give my clothes for washing and they were ready when I woke up. They have a washing machine with a dryer function. And I really needed some laundry after two weeks of travel across South Korea. The 2pm check out was also quite amazing as I was super tired after my long journey day before

This was easily one of the most memorable stays during our trip to China. The camp is located right beside the stunning desert, offering breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. What impressed us most was how many activities were included for free. We enjoyed unlimited sandboarding on the dunes, a camel riding experience, and even had the chance to ride off-road motorcycles in the desert. Everything was well organized and suitable even for first-time visitors. The traditional Dunhuang-style dinner was delicious and gave us a great opportunity to experience local flavors. In the evening, we watched a wonderful bonfire party with live performances, and the spectacular molten iron fireworks show was absolutely amazing—something we had never seen before. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The tents were comfortable, clean, and surprisingly well equipped considering the desert location. If you’re looking for a unique desert adventure that combines natural beauty, local culture, exciting activities, and excellent value for money, this is the perfect place. Highly recommended for international travelers visiting Dunhuang! We would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay at WanAn Inn! The rooms were spacious, clean and elegantly designed. There was also a lovely cafe/restaurant attached which was great for a morning coffee. The staff were lovely and super attentive! The location was excellent—really well situated for visits to the Mogao caves, and only a 5 minute drive from the crescent lake and desert. Would really recommend staying here!

來敦煌鳴沙山旅行，入住那沙山民宿是整趟旅途最幸運的選擇，不管地理位置、居住環境還是店家服務，都遠超預期，真心推薦給所有來敦煌的遊客。民宿坐落在鳴沙山腳下，步行十分鐘就能直達景區大門，不用早起堵車、不用頂着烈日來回，清晨出門看沙漠日出，傍晚回小院靜賞落日餘暉，夜裡光污染極少，抬頭便是漫天璀璨銀河，沉浸式感受大漠風光，遠離市區喧囂，安靜又治癒。 院落是極具西北特色的夯土小院，打理得乾淨整潔，桌椅綠植錯落有致，傍晚坐在院裏吹風喝茶，氛圍感十足。客房空間寬敞通透，衞生細節做得無可挑剔，床品柔軟無沙塵，角落、衞浴都清掃到位。考慮到敦煌氣候乾燥，每間房都配備加濕器，獨立衞浴乾濕分離，熱水充足穩定，吹風機風力大，玩沙後的塵土能快速清理，遮光窗簾隔音效果好，遊玩一天後能踏踏實實睡個好覺。民宿配有自助洗衣烘乾區、免費停車場，自駕遊客寄存行李、清洗沙衣都十分方便，設施齊全貼心。 最打動我的是店家熱情真誠的服務，完全沒有商業化的疏離感。抵達時主動幫忙搬運行李，辦理入住高效快捷，還細心講解景區錯峯遊玩路線、小眾拍照點位，推薦本地人常去的特色餐館。入住期間有任何需求響應迅速，補充飲用水、借用物品隨叫隨到，待人温和耐心，閑暇時還會和客人閑聊當地風土人情，如同住在親友家中一般自在。 同等地段裏這家性價比很高，兼顧大漠風情與舒適居住體驗，情侶、家庭、結伴出行都適配。貼心的服務與絕佳的地理位置，為我的敦煌之行增添許多温暖，下次再來鳴沙山，依舊會首選那沙山民宿，也會把這間寶藏小院推薦給身邊出行的朋友。

One of my favourite stays in 6 months across China Communication before arrival was smooth via WeChat, and the staff proactively helped me plan a full itinerary for the region, all in English, which as a foreign solo traveller in China I truly appreciated. The hotel arranged a driver who picked me up directly at the train station gate and took me wherever I needed to go. I could adjust my plans at any time, and he was always there waiting or arrived right on schedule. The whole organzation was genuinely flexible and reliable. The location of the hotel is perfect, like less than 10 minutes walking from Danxia Park West Gate, so you can catch the 5:30 AM opening for sunrise at Platform 1 and go for sunset at Platform 3. The staff helped me to go to Binguo, Kangle Grassland, Alien Scenic Park, Pingshan Grand Canyon and Mati Temple. Over 5 days, I saw far more than I ever could have managed on my own, especially as this area is really remote and no didi is available. It is one of my favourite trips and stays from six months in China and I’ve seen quite a bit. Would come back without hesitation.

I had a wonderful stay at ******* Family in Labrang. The host is fantastic – he speaks good English, organizes transfers, and even came to pick me up at the station. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the monastery and from a quiet entrance away from the crowds. He gives plenty of useful advice, and the rooms are clean and warm, even in the summer season. Breakfast is simple but good. Everything was positive – the host truly makes the place special
