My second stay at the hotel and as before the room and it’s facilities were fine. The only issue being, because of the age of the hotel, there are no plug/USB points close to the bedside. However, Housekeeping is very good and the welcome and helpfulness from the Reception team is great.

Great size room. Advertised as 4star….don’t know in what year that would be…more a 2star! Window cill & wall in bedroom really rotten, dated furniture, all a bit scruffy, had to keep window open as room a bit smelly but then was really noisy through the night with lorry deliveries, extracter fan in bathroom not working so really steamy, cracks in tiles where shower is, rotten door frame in bathroom too. Didn’t complain at time as only staying 2 nights just to sleep - sheets etc nice & clean but pillows not comfortable, old & sunken. Wouldn’t stay again.

Firstly, this was a very important stay! It was mine and my future husband’s Wedding Weekend. We arrived at the Best Western Ivy-Hill Hotel and we’re immediately greeted by smiley and welcoming Lauren who began taking our details for checking in. We had booked the Honeymoon Suite as it was to be our Wedding the following day at nearby Newland Hall, Roxwell. The warm, friendly and massively accommodating Libby (the Hotel’s Manager) was around the corner and came out to welcome us and wish us well for our upcoming weekend. Straight away we were at ease. The staff from here onwards were just perfection. Caring, approachable, efficient and attentive. Nothing was too much and every request was dealt with with no bother. We had a meal for 11 in the glorious BARTELLAS Restaurant that evening. The wonderful host, LORNA couldn do enough for us. But by no means was she intrusive or encroaching on our meal. She was accommodating, fun and full of life and I can 100% say that she made our evening! Of course the food was scrumptious, but without Lorna’s treatment, it wouldn’t have been the evening we had! The morning of our big day we chose to have a few drinks outside in the glorious sunshine, and again, Libby was there to add another finishing touch in the was of a few complimentary nibbles. The wedding was just perfect, and we returned, along with over 30 of our friends and family who were also staying at the Ivy-Hill and the night porter kept us going serving us in the bar until we’ll after the time we expected to bar would close!! The breakfasts were out of this world! I couldn’t fault a thing. And they also had oat milk for our coffee (which isn’t always the case at many hotels!) The room was stunning! Decadent in its decor and romantic, we absolutely loved it! It was the PERFECT stay for our Wedding Weekend! Libby, Lorna, Lauren and the rest of the staff, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for making our ‘Once in a Lifetime’ Weekend above and beyond what we hoped and wished for! The room was quite cold, with best efforts the radiator could not keep the whole room fully warm. My feet were constantly cold.

As a coach company on the 23/05/23 we were authorized to pick up a group of 30 people from this Hotel and take them to the Airport. Our driver was booked in at the Holiday Inn reception and had confirmation that we could stay in the car park without paying any fees for it otherwise we would have paid the 2 pounds without problems. Two weeks after we received a £100 parking fine. It is quite clear here that the customer service assistant on duty that day did not register our vehicle on their system, which is the cause that led to this parking charge notice. Despite all our efforts to resolve the matter, we provided all the information in full included the name of the group we were picking up on that day but the management of the hotel instead of opening an investigation did not want to know when we appealed the charge. We will never ever do business with this Hotel again and we highly suggest other businesses to not use the Holiday Inn for any meetings of conferences.
