The hotel staff is very accommodating to all of your stay needs. Every has a smile and makes you feel welcomed everyday. The hotel grounds is clean, well kept and many walking paths with beautiful foliage. The food is excellent and the rooms have spectacular views of the Nile River and the city of Aswan.

The Basma Hotel Aswan is a mid-range hotel that offers a comfortable and convenient stay in Aswan. The location of the hotel is ok, with easy access to the city's main attractions and the Nile River. The staff are friendly and helpful, always willing to provide assistance and recommendations for things to do in the area. The rooms at the Basma Hotel Aswan are decent with comfortable beds. However, the rooms are a bit dated and could use some modernization. The bathroom facilities are functional but could also benefit from some updates. The hotel offers basic dining options, including a buffet breakfast that is decent but not particularly outstanding. The rooftop restaurant is a highlight of the hotel, offering stunning views of the city and the Nile River. However, the food quality and selection could be improved. The hotel has a lovely swimming pool and a rooftop terrace where guests can relax and enjoy the views. Magical property in magical land. Extremely professional and accommodating staff and service. The ground floor spa equally impressive where I enjoyed full body massage on consecutive days. One small issue with thermostat was dealt with promptly and to full satisfaction. I don’t believe you can improve upon The Old Cataract in any stay in Aswan..

We travelled with Egypt Tour Portal and as part of our 5 star package, we were assigned this old, dated, shabby, dirty hotel. Claimed to be 5 stars, in reality a poor 3 star. We checked in and despite having requested a double bed, we were given twin beds. This was rectified by the intervention of the tour guide and the manager of the hotel. The hotel lobby is disgustingly dirty, the floor and the beautiful chandeliers are filthy. The AC vents in the ceiling had not been cleaned in a long long time. Our bedroom was old, shabby and dirty. The bed linen was shabby and the floor was filthy as was the furniture. The AC in the room was very poor. We dined in the restaurant that evening. A room similar to a large canteen. The food was appalling. I ordered a fillet steak and did not touch it. The manager did ask me was everything ok, but I failed to see the point to exchange it for more of the same. Our dinner bill for four of us was €150. Expensive! We were to receive a breakfast box on checkout as we had an early tour. No breakfast box was forthcoming. This hotel typifies what we experienced in Egypt. Tourism is the main income in this country, yet no reinvestment occurs in their prime source of revenue. This is a cash cow that one day will come to an end. Avoid at all costs.

Pros The hotel facilities were absolutely beautiful with an amazing view. Traditional Nubian style house. Every corner makes you want to capture the space. We had a rocky start but the hotel staff tried to redeem themselves. We lost an apple watch which the hotel helped us get back ASAP before we reached Luxor. We are grateful for this. Cons Awful communication and hospitality. We were the only guests in the entire resort because of low season but still received shitty service. The hotel is in a secluded place making it difficult to reach.It’s on top of a mountain on a dusty rocky road. The hotel offers a tuktuk. We did our research prior and contacted the hotel to arrange getting to the hotel from the village and check in since we knew we’d land in the AMs. We were ignored. We arrived at the village meeting point at 1:45 but only ended up getting to our rooms around 3:50am because reaching the hotel via call and WhatsApp was so difficult. The staff had no sense of urgency. We were frustrated and anxious in this wellness resort. Our taxi driver refused to take us up the mountain and the tuktuk refused to take us because of our many bags (which is understandable). I’m very disappointed in the service and I know the staff has lots of potential to improve on their service delivery. The hotel needs to be more cognisant of their customer service and guests hospitality. Staying here was stressful. Recommended if you want aesthetic vibes,a beautiful picturesque hotel with good breakfast. Don’t recommend if you prioritise great guest services, comfortability and peace.

説實話這是我在埃及住過最好的酒店了 環境、房間都很不錯，服務還是要加強一些 酒店有很多免費活動 晚上6-8點有車接送去市區的市場 六點有免費的帆船看落日 這是一個很大的別墅酒店 很新 一棟一棟的 一樓是公共區客廳 都有大陽台 景色很好 床上用品也好 前台服務員很友善 但是他們的經理讓人覺得態度不太好 要注意預訂的時候選好人數，如果訂了一人間，住了兩個人是要額外加錢的（我們加了45美金🤣🤣🤣）

The Hotel was really beautiful, excellent facilities with nice architecture and decoration, impressive view to the Nile from the rooms, very clean and comfortable common areas and room. Relaxing and private setting. Unique experience. The service was good but we have some miscommunication problems with the staff serving at the restaurant. For us communicating in English with them was difficult, and it cost us some problems with our consumption and food bill. There is some room for improvement for the Hotel in that regards. Although the location for us was really nice for other guest or tourist may prove a problem, as it is not of easy access. Although the hotel offers a shuttle boat to mainland, we had to go through some long waits at mainland to get the ride. Without having a phone to call well in advance for transportation it becomes really different to access the hotel. We were lucky that our tour guide in Aswan, had his local phone and could always help us contacting the hotel and getting the boat for us.
