I recently stayed at the W Abu Dhabi - Yas Island with a friend, and while the hotel itself was quite good, the service was far from what we expected from a Marriott property.
Our experience started off on the wrong foot with the front desk staff, who seemed disinterested in assisting us. Despite Marriott’s reputation for high-quality service, we felt the staff were unpleasant and not particularly eager to help. For instance, our room lacked basic amenities like toothbrushes and towels. We called the reception three times and waited nearly an hour before these items were finally brought to our room. This kind of delay is unacceptable, especially at a hotel of this caliber.
Furthermore, during check-in, we noticed that other guests were treated better than we were. A staff member was serving drinks to people checking in, but when we approached the front desk again 30 minutes later, we were not offered anything. This inconsistency in service really stood out and left us feeling undervalued as guests.
On a different note, the furniture in the room was not up to the standard we expected, and communication with the staff was challenging as most of them spoke primarily in Hinglish, which led to some misunderstandings.
Overall, while the hotel’s facilities are decent, the lackluster service significantly detracted from our stay. When booking a Marriott hotel, we expect a certain level of service, but unfortunately, this experience did not meet those expectations.
