Villa Athena has been the top hotel in Agrigento and one of the well-known luxury hotels in Sicily for decades. We could not get a reservation there on our first trip to Sicily, but this spring we were able to stay for 2 nights. The location is as amazing as pictures and website show - you can look our your window or sit in the garden with a full-on view of the Temples. Absolutely stunning. Having said that, location and view are only one part of the hotel experience. Our room (temple view) was extremely small, but very well-maintained; the bathroom was decent-sized and totally modern. Still, it was the smallest room we've had anywhere in Europe in a long time, let alone for a 5-star hotel. Since we were there before summer, breakfast and dinner were served in a totally indoor space without any view and decorated in an ultra-modern style, which left us a little cold. And while the front desk staff were very welcoming, the restaurant staff did not add much to our experience -- on the first morning, we were ignored (for ordering coffee or seeing a menu) until we called someone over and we never got a single smile from anyone. We were so surprised that I mentioned it - quietly - to the front desk person. It actually made us decide to have dinner elsewhere. On the second morning, the breakfast staff was friendlier, but I have to say that it colored our opinion of the hotel. We were happy to have finally stayed at the Villa, but if I were to return to Agrigento, I'd seek out an alternative. If the Villa advertises itself as a 5-star experience and charges accordingly, it needs to deliver. We'd be willing to stay in less luxury but with warmer, more personal service.

The Doric was absolutely an outstanding resort. Every room had a swimming pool (not just a dunk pool) with lounge chairs and a huge glass door opening up to the valley. The staff, especially Katia, could not do enough for us. Their service was second to none! The food was outstanding, the wine was delicious and the cocktails were superb! The grounds were impeccably manicured with a beautiful view of one of the temples on the other side of the valley. Looking forward to going back and spending a few more days in such a relaxing atmosphere.

Deluxe it it-true gem of a place-amazing pool, manicured garden with view over the Mediterranean, the bedroom/bathroom were superb, breakfast the best we had in Sicily with a wide range of local specialities-all homemade. And the serve was excellent. Small memorable details include a small bottle of prosecco kept cold for us-as a welcome gesture. We would have loved to stay more than one night. The little fishing village nearby Marina di Palma was surprisingly very lively at night, with tons of youngsters enjoying the bars and nightlife. We warmly recommend this exclusive B&B.

Our stay here at Mangia’s Torre Del Barone was the epitome of relaxation. A ten minute walk from the beach, a ten minute drive from town, and a few steps away from some great restaurants made for an easy and fun vacation spot. This is truly a great place to stay if you need to get away from the “hustle and bustle” of your daily life, and just enjoy a cocktail with some soft music by the patio. We saw plenty of large and small families, couples young and old, and people from all over the world enjoying their stay here. The absolute best part of our stay was, without question, the staff. To the management reading this, you should know that these people are the backbone of Torre Del Barone, and they are the ones who make it the truly exceptional place that it is. To say that “we were taken care of” is an understatement. We are not Italian speakers, by any means (we have been studying the basics on Duolingo— I can confidently order a cappuccino and that’s about it!) and your staff worked with us to ensure that we were understood and heard. They have happily and respectfully guided us through every request, even teaching us some Italian phrases along the way. You have a wonderful group of people working at Primo, and throughout this entire establishment; I hope you recognize their greatness, hard work-ethic, intelligence, and kindness. I commend your staff on their ability to show hospitality and love to a couple of Americans trying their best to get around your beautiful country. We will greatly miss Torre del Barone, Sciacca, and Italy/Sicily as a whole, and the people who made our honeymoon so very special. Arrivederci, With love! Nick and Sara D. Il soggiorno al Serenusa Village è stato fantastico. Il villaggio è sul mare ed è ha ben 3 piscine (una grande centrale, una piccola attaccata con scivoli per i bimbi e un’ altra dove poter fare nuoto). La pulizia delle camere e dei luoghi comuni rende il villaggio molto confortevole. Il mangiare è veramente buono e c è ogni giorno una varia scelta sia se si vuol mangiare carne sia pesce. Il mare si può raggiungere da una scala in legno dal villaggio stesso e gli ombrelloni sono assegnati. Nella spiaggia c è un ristorante che non ho provato perché ho preferito il buffet e c è anche un ristorante “il gusto” che non ho avuto modo di provare. L’animazione è sempre presente, ma con discrezione.. organizzano tante attività e ce n è davvero per tutti i gusti! Ho soggiornato per una settimana con il mio compagno! Ve lo consiglio!
