Hotel berhampiran Church of São Lourenço, Almansil

We had heard great things about the Conrad from friends who are regular visitors so we had to give it a try. Firstly it is a beautiful hotel with staff who are second to none. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the main with a few minor irritations. I requested a quiet room and made the reservation six months in advance. On arrival it was a pleasant surprise to have complimentary valet parking. Then we were warmly greeted at check in and given plenty of information about the hotel. We were escorted to our room which was simply stunning. On a par, if not better than any 5* hotel we have stayed in previously. The bathroom/shower area was spacious and the bed was super comfortable. But on perusing the area outside our balcony on the first floor we discovered we were located directly above the kids club. Certainly not the quiet room we requested. We returned to reception to be told that the hotel was at capacity. According to the hotels booking engine that wasn’t quite the full truth. So we returned rather disappointed to our room. We were promised that we would be contacted the following day if another room could be found. This never happened. However that evening we ate at Louro which was excellent and made even better by the service offered by Ankit. The upper pool area is so relaxing and beautiful although in my opinion would be better if it was adults only. Pool side service was again exceptional. Acquiring sun beds did prove a challenge so a 8:15am start was required! I have a disability so moving to the lower pool wasn’t an option for me. A couple of days into our stay we met Maha from customer relations who is a credit to the hotel and really made our stay special. It was my husband’s birthday during our stay and we received a lovely surprise in our room which was much appreciated. Another word of praise must go to the breakfast staff. All professional, efficient, helpful and friendly. I did find the lunchtime/snacks menu a little uninspiring and feel improvements could be made there. The empty buildings on the side of the driveway look rather run down so not sure what they are for? If they belong to the hotel they do need some upkeep as the rest of the driveway is so impressive. I would give the review 4.5 stars if it was an option as a few tweaks could be made. But overall we had a fantastic stay and would love to return one day. Thank you team Conrad.

Great rooms and nice resort but disappointing they do not allow check in before 4pm, considering they have so many villas and it wasn't busy at all. You'll also need to buy or bring a swim hat for the indoor pool where the fun police will stop you from entering the pool through the most accessible doors and send you up the stairs and around instead. Staff are nice and friendly. You could probably get a cheaper deal if booking late during off peak times.

I went alone but never bored. I had a late check in and everything was spot on. I communicated with the hotel about my flight change and quick response they booked me a taxi which was there waiting at weeee hours of the morning. The cleanliness was %100 rooms clean I cannot fault. I enjoyed the bus ride, the Uber was ok. The area was quiet if anyone looking for closeness but the taxi price was good. There was so much to do. My last day went to the spa over by the aqua park OMG it was rejuvenating only thing was you have to pay with a discount if you are staying at the hotel., for 2 hours 25 euros I think it can be a little cheaper for hotel guest. But I am not one to complain it is a kids friendly hotel so expect to hear kids running around planning to bring my grandkids next time, I know they will enjoy it. Breakfast was ok, ate outside for dinner there is so much place to choose from. Just a Uber ride away. A big shout out to Bruno very good cocktail and he gave me tips of places to eat out side. We had a five night break in Faro and stayed at this hotel, conveniently sited overlooking the marina. The airport bus drops you within a three minute walk of the hotel and the train station is just a little further away. We were fortunate to have a lovely room with balcony from which we could see the old town beyond the marina. The room was very comfortable and of a good size too. One disadvantage of the hotel is the small lifts from the reception area to upper floors: we used the stairs for easier access once we had taken bags to our room. The breakfast was very good with a pleasant area outside which was quite warm even in November. Entertainment was provided by a resident pianist and added a little to the general ambience of breakfast time. Overall, we were very pleased with our accommodation and would certainly stay there again if we were to revisit Faro.

It’s a good hotel near everything. Staff is friendly and helpful. If you can find a good deal, it’s definitely recommended. Just the bathroom leaks a lot when showering, which can be annoying if you’re staying many nights.

Just wanted to thank Stella and Patricia for looking after my daughter when she was stuck down with a nasty bug! My daughter called me in a panic and didn’t know what to do as was travelling alone, she didn’t feel well, was scared and alone in a foreign country. I managed to find the number for reception and the staff were amazing, they checked on her, took her water and looked into getting a doctor or emergency treatment. Unfortunately there were no doctors available and emergency was 8 hour wait. Stella and Patricia supported my daughter to a local pharmacy where she was able to get advice and medication she needed. They both have her free food and drink and were an absolute godsend! It’s hard for parents when our children travel alone, but knowing there are people out there that are so kind and supportive is so nice to know. There really are some wonderful people out there, thank you so much xx

We loved it - where else could one stay at a former Roman palace for 200 euro a night ?! Beautiful outdoor pool with panoramic view, perfectly manicured garden, excellent breakfast, there is even an exhibition onsite. Our room (superior category) is spacious and also has a balcony , although we spent little time in room, there are gorgeous lounges with antiques and patios with flower garden view. Why would you stay in your room. We recommend 2 night stays and it is wonderful to enjoy the estate and there are SPA treatments, although we did not use it. The only catch is that it is 20 minutes from the beach. If you need to go to old town or beach, you need to drive a car (parking is included with spacious underground parking) or use Uber.
