This is the second time we have stayed at Alston House. We stayed two nights over the weekend. It's a wonderful place with really friendly owners and staff. We stayed in room 3. It was a lovely big room with a huge bed. The bathroom was superb with a tub bath and a big separate shower. We were provided with toiletries and bath robes plus soft fluffy towels. The bed was super comfortable, when I go away I sometimes find it hard to sleep in a strange bed but I had two perfect nights sleep. The breakfast, which was included in the price was lovely. All freshly made and served to your table. The choice at breakfast was amazing. We are both nights in the restaurant, the food is first class, good choice, well cooked and served. We had two courses, a main and a dessert. The apple crumble and profiteroles were the best we have ever tasted. To say one of us had steak and the other had pork medallions the price at £72 including drinks was reasonable. Next time we are in Alston it will definitely be our first choice place.

Spacious well appointed room. Welcoming host and friendly staff. The property could benefit from some TLC but not out of keeping for its age. Great location. Perfectly acceptable evening meal in the characterful bar restaurant with a lovely open fire.

A very friendly, welcoming hotel. The landlady Carole is very helpful. Comfortable rooms of a decent size, and comfortable beds. Also ate there on 2 evenings and enjoyed dinner on both occasions. I thoroughly recommend a stay here. The hotel is well located in the village, a short walk to the station.

Charming hotel in a stunning location, perfect base for the Pennine Way. Room was very comfortable, staff friendly, pretty gardens and restaurant plenty of options for afternoon tea and evening meals. Cumbrian breakfast was a perfect start to the day.

Popped in on spec for a bank holiday lunch. We were really impressed with the lovely helpful staff and welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and comfortable and the food was delicious. The only downside was that the rain stopped us from sitting outside in the beer garden, which looked lovely too. Would highly recommend, we will be back hopefully in the near future and hope to have an overnight stay.

We had a lovely stay at Alston House, the room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, with a good view. Our evening meal was excellent, as was breakfast the next owning. Overall, a very enjoyable stay in an atmospheric town in a beautiful part of the country.

This is a lovely small hotel, beautifully decorated and clean and comfortable. Carole is the most friendly and welcoming host and Michael produces delicious food. The staff were all lovely. Bathroom just a little cramped and hotel is right on road which wouldn’t normally be an issue apart from the number of bikers, apparently it’s on a well known route?

We stayed here half way through our coast to coast bike ride and it was excellent. The room was lovely, clean and bright, and the staff could not have been more helpful. Our bikes were stored securely overnight and the food in the restaurant was great.

We loved our stop at Alston House on the Coast 2 Coast this weekend. We received a very warm welcome with space to store our bikes and loads of hot water for the bath. I really enjoyed my pizza in the restaurant in the evening, big bedroom. Amazing breakfast. Thanks
