Be aware of the a well-designed process of this hotel that can your stay a nightmare. Me and my family came to Amsterdam for short vacation in July, not for the first time so I know what to expect there in terms of hotels standards etc. My wife and daughter came one day before me, and once arrived at the hotel and entered the room, they realized it was so hot and humid, that there was no chance they can stay there (especially in case one had high blood pressure or any kind of heart/health issue). Of course, they asked the front desk for any type of solution but there was no intention to solve this, what so ever (they were offered a fan). The only option they were left with was to book a different hotel in vicinity and move from there as soon as they can - this is how bad conditions were. With all the arguments we had, hotel had no intention to offer refund, voucher, discount or any other complimentary or symbolic token of appreciation. What became evident afterwards, is that this is a deliberate process, planned in advance - hotel sends an ”no air condition” email message just 1 or 2 days before the cancellation deadline to be formally correct and they have ”ready-made” answers. While I was trying to solve the issue next day, I've witnessed a young couple with a 6-month baby from West Virginia that had to check out a day earlier because of the same reason, and another guest concerned about the heat and trying to understand these conditions via a phone call - but the front desk agent ”reeled” him in to book, with no intention to warn about the inhumane conditions. All together, not just a terrible hotel but a case of although formally correct process, clearly deliberately misleading and situation that represents a health risk.

To be honest, I expected more from the hotel, but it definitely doesn’t pull on 4 stars. You can put a solid three. Although everything was perfectly painted in the booking, it didn’t even come close to the description. I was surprised that they did not bring water during cleaning. Could leave bathroom attributes, could not. I can't comment on towels. The room was arranged in a high-tech style, but to be honest, such rooms need to be populated on demand, since there was a feeling that something was about to fall or fall off. Internet was not working well. Breakfast was excellent. And incomprehensible scheme of the bar. Because if you are on a business trip, you want to sit at the bar in the evening, but here you had to leave earlier. Also, when you start work in the morning, you definitely won’t drink coffee at the bar, which is additionally inconvenient
Dikker & Thijs Hotel

We were so looking forward to celebrating a huge anniversary at this hotel, since we had done the same many years ago. The hotel had arranged complementary breakfasts each day. We were so hugely disappointed. First, they did not warn us that there is major construction on the street/canal in the front of the hotel. Second, they did not tell us that we no longer could smoke in our room, as we could in the past. Third, we had no working phone in the room, and after letting them know, nothing was done about it (the front desk personnel seemed ambivalent about the whole situation, and my husband is disabled, which alarmed me). And last, as we were literally walking out the door for the airport taxi, they charged us for the breakfasts we had each day that were supposed to be complementary. I didn’t have time to protest. Bottom line: they used to be a gracious and grand hotel, but for the price we paid and the attitude we received from the different personnel, in our opinion, they are not up to par. We will not be staying there in the future.

My partner and I stayed at INK hotel in Amsterdam in early July and to say that our stay was wonderful would be an enormous understatement! Not only is the hotel itself incredibly unique, creative and beautiful, the staff is unparalleled! Upon entering, we were greeted by Rob and Valerie who were both so welcoming, warm, informative and personable. It was my partner’s birthday during our stay and it was my desire to make it as special as possible. This was a daunting task as I am not familiar with Amsterdam nor do I speak Dutch. Thanks to Rob and Val, his birthday was a huge success! Val assisted me with the train routes, times and directions and both she and Rob provided me with creative ideas. Rob then made phone calls for me to inquire about reservations and tickets as I was having difficulty navigating websites written in Dutch. After a perfect day, we walked into a fabulously decorated hotel room with balloons, chocolate hearts, champagne, etc. It was absolutely amazing!! We have traveled around the globe, stayed in hundreds of hotels and never have we experienced such exceptional treatment by hotel staff!! We will definitely make sure to stay at INK on our next visit to Amsterdam and will recommend that all of our friends and family do as well. Thank you INK hotel for providing such excellence!!
Hotel Die Port Van Cleve

This hotel checks all the boxes! Excellent central location made it easy to get anywhere, either by walking or streetcar. The staff was welcoming and so helpful, truly making me feel like a valued guest. And my room - a “cosy single” was not at all cramped! Split level with bathroom and dressing area above, and double bed and desk below, it felt like a suite. Great food in the bar and restaurant, and again, the service was outstanding. True, hotels in Amsterdam are pricey - but this one is worth every euro!
