We picked this hotel because it’s away from the crowds of the city. Very peaceful and had no complaints. We walked to the tram to go into the city. A taxi is good if not wanting to walk 15 minutes to the tram. We walked to the museums nearby. It’s about !5 minutes. The room was nice with an upgrade to canal view. Staff were all friendly and even gave us a glimpse into the John Lennon suite. Breakfast was good with lots to choose from. Special thanks to our waiter Beau! He was so helpful and sweet! We also enjoyed the executive lounge each evening. There also are chairs and tables outside right by the canal with swans cruising by. We were there every evening relaxing after a busy day in town. Ask for a fan or windows opened because a/c is sometimes not cool enough.

After our Viking Rhine Cruise ended in Amsterdam, we planned to stay the night to check out the city. This hotel had the right combination of price, location, and amenities. We chose one of the 2nd floor suits which included a balcony for smoking. The room was located above the side street which was lined with sycamore trees so the balcony was screened by the branches—it was lovely. Noise level was not bad since this was not the tourist sector but it was still the city so it wasn’t quiet or dark. The room was spacious especially the bathroom. From the hotel we walked to the old city and passed several canals along the way. We didn’t wind up eating at the hotel but we did order from the bar and the bartender was friendly. The staff was friendly and called a cab for us in the morning to get to the airport. Would stay here again.

We decided to splurge on this 5 star hotel for a long anticipated family reunion. Unfortunately the experience was marred by a series of disappointments caused by utterly incompetent hotel staff. When I called ahead on the day of our arrival to request an early check-in the hotel rep. sternly informed me that I would have to pay a 120 Euro charge for the privilege! We are experienced travelers and never have we encountered such a demand. We took our chances regardless and decided to show up 2 hours early. Sure enough, our room was already ready and we were allowed to occupy it at no extra charge. Things really started to go south when a limousine that I had arranged for separate airport pickup of my daughter’s family through the concierge showed up at the airport unequipped with a baby car seat. I had expressly requested this when I booked the service. This was also specified in the booking confirmation sent by email to me by the concierge. The reaction I later got when I complained to the concierge was that I was not charged extra for the baby seat - as if this was the main issue! Furthermore, this was the first time that I was informed of such a charge, as no mention of this had been made in the email confirmation of the limo reservation which I originally received from the concierge. More importantly, what is more concerning is the utter indifference he showed for the safety of a guest’s infant grandchild. All that concerned him was the money angle to the failure. Things soon got worse. When we checked into our room we lifted the bed cover to discover several hairs and multiple red and yellow stains. Unbelievably, the chambermaid had neglected to change the bedsheets. This, in a 5 star hotel! After we called reception, staff was quickly sent to our room to change them. We never heard further from management about this. We later had dinner at Serre restaurant onsite and left the place hungry. The chef seems to focus on presentation and less on the reasonableness of the portions. My wife had a fish main course which was equivalent to 3 forkfuls. The minuscule dessert was pretty to look at but was grossly inadequate even for one person. The restaurant style is a throwback to the old Nouvelle Cuisine school. For the icing on the cake: a voucher for a round of drinks on the house at the rooftop bar that the guest services manager had kindly given me was bungled by the bar staff. When I arrived home I discovered a mysterious charge of 66 Euros by the Twenty-Third Floor Bar. The bar staff set new standards of incompetence in taking my voucher and charging me anyway.I had to call the hotel for credit but I am losing money anyway from the spread in exchange rates used by credit card companies. To be fair, the Superior View room was extremely spacious and comfortable with a magnificent view. The large pool and ample spa facilities were enjoyable and a significant convenience . The Conservatorium is so much more than a hotel; it was our amazing home away from home. From the moment we arrived the team made us so welcomed and genuinely happy to have us there. Our stunning accommodations were so beautiful and well appointed, the food was exceptional, the service super and the location perfect near the most important museums. Walking thru the hotel one sees the high quality of all the details and interesting touches everywhere. Having been fortunate to stay at many luxury hotels throughout the world the Conservatorium is truly an exceptional place to stay. I give it ****** stars!

Set right next to the best part of the city, Leidseplein which is very well connected to all the notable landmarks including walkable distance to both the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum as well as the famous Voldelpark. The hotel has very modern interiors and all the facilities to make ones stay comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean and spacious unlike the other European hotels. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. There are 100's of restaurants serving all types of food and all are within walking distance from the hotel. Getting to Dam Square which is the shopping hub and Amsterdam Central station is just a single tram ride. Overall, the hotel is very clean and comfortable and nothing can beat the convenient location of this hotel.

Second stay at this hotel, this time 4 nights on holiday. The hotel is located at a commercial, but pleasant area, with good public transportation options. We preferred it to the chaos of central Amsterdam, including a fair share of dubious characters we saw there on sightseeing. We were welcomed in a courteous and pleasant manner (thank you Tim for this, and for good tips regarding transportation)., and service was good throughout our stay. The common areas and the room were pleasant and clean. The bed was good, the bathroom large and well-maintained. Breakfast was a continental fare with no extras, but good quality ingredients, both beverages and food. Few comments regarding things we liked less: 1. Water pressure in our room (highest floor, # 11) was too weak for an adequate shower. Uncertain how it is on lower floors, but this was frustrating. 2. Room service needs improvement. We ordered burgers, to be prepared medium, and received charred, over-well-done meat, with charred buns too. 3. We were happy to learn there was jazz music in the bar on Thursday. Alas, these were two fairly quiet guitars, drowned in a sea of yelling and laughing guests, People's behavior is by no means something the hotel can or should control. Nevertheless, should the music be audible, it may be better to bring a singer with a piano and a set of drums. Overall a pleasant stay at a good hotel.

They do not deserve the TripAdvisor award. The location of the hotel isn’t bad BUT it isn’t great either. It’s quite a distance from everything even though public transport is convenient - there’s a bit of walking to do. Nothing to eat around here after 9pm and you need to order deliveroo but the options there are limited too. Service: First, the room had NO air conditioning. It was stuffy and had no ventilation. Told them 3 times and they just left a note saying that they have taken note of this? Bonvoy service? I’ve travelled so much pre Covid - I think the service standards shouldn’t have changed this much? We had one lady Andre (from Barcelona) who was very helpful but the manager and the other front desk people weren’t any help at all let alone service. Second, the room was so so. There aren’t much amenities- just soup and shampoo. No toothbrush etc. Towels are small. Third, breakfast- every day’s breakfast was exactly the same maybe except one dish. I get elemen isn’t the higher grade Marriott group hotels BUT for all other Bonvoy members out there- just stay at the main Marriott or another hotel group.

Stayed at this hotel in July '23 whilst on a short break to Amsterdam. The hotel has plenty of on street parking which is approx 16euro per day. The hotel is typical Holiday Inn Express quality with a good shower, bed could have been comfortable. The AC was very good. Breakfast can get busy but the spread is good. The location is very good, around 20 minutes into the city centre using public transport which is very close the hotel. Good local shops and restaurants. Would recommend.

Really enjoyed my stay, staff were very helpful & professional and had a positive impression right from check in. While slightly out of the centre of Amsterdam it is easily accessible by public transport or the walk is through a very nice part of the city. Highly recommend for the price! Breakfast was a highlight.

Not the best, can't say I'm impressed.. Room was freezing cold and asked several times to send someone to fix the aircon as it blew out cold air, first time i was ignored, 30 mins later when i rang down again, receptionist told me all she could do was bring a extra blanket and i asked for different room they refused and said they had no one to fix the heating, totally unacceptable, they brought a small heater and told us to leave the aircon on blowing out cold air (which we turned off as it wasn't heating the room up ), since then we found out the temperature doesn't go over a certain temp and all rooms are the same they knew this too, so we were stuck with a small heater to keep the room warm which hardly kept it warm. They don't care that the room isn't warm enough for the guests or whether you will leave. Once they have your money it's tough. I wasn't keen on the breakfast it wasn't quality, although we paid for the 3 nights with breakfast we only went for breakfast once. Poor attitude from reception. I didn't pay for a room to have an heater that was sat on the table the whole time it was that small. Drinks at the cafe in reception are expensive. Definitely won't stay again. I don't recommend this hotel.

Hotel was lovely, staff were very friendly and gave lots of information about the hotel and available 24/7. Lovely goodie basket on arruval and if not booked in for breakfast, the offer of free crossaints, hot drinks and fruits. Good location although placed further from the centre it was a lovely walk and not far from the tram stop of Amsterdam South Train Station (6mins to the airport). There is a supermarket not too far which is great and there was a fridge in the room for anything you want to keep cool. Rooms were lovely and warm, would happily return.

We arrived for 5 night at Hotel Twenty Eight and loved it! Our room was excellent (Executive Apartment). It was spacious with a small kitchen stocked with everything we needed. There's a full service market a block away with great selection. The bed was king sized and very comfortable. There's a window that can be opened which let in fresh air day and night. The bathroom was large with a fantastic shower -- excellent hot water and lots of it. The hotel staff were wonderful -- kind and helpful in every way. The 24 tram stops right in front of the hotel with direct access to central Amsterdam. This was a perfect place for us to stay... Slightly outside the hustle and busyness of the tourist area which is what we wanted. We'll stay there again next time we visit.

This is a fantastic hotel. My sister & I stayed for 3 nights and loved it. It’s located in a beautiful and very safe part of the city, very close to the concert hall & the museums. The beds are so comfortable and they refill the water in your room every day. It’s a very easy journey into the city centre on the 12 or 2 tram. There are lots of great places to eat within minutes walk from the hotel and the lovely lady gave us a list of nearby restaurants on our arrival. The hotel is very quiet, we didn’t hear any noise any of the nights. There is a lovely sitting room with an honesty bar that has a good selection of drinks. It was lovely to sit off here and relax either before or after dinner. Great shower in the bathroom too. Staff were so friendly & accommodating, they even got a hot water bottle for me one of the nights when I wasn’t feeling well. Will definitely be back, loved it.
