We decided to splurge on this 5 star hotel for a long anticipated family reunion. Unfortunately the experience was marred by a series of disappointments caused by utterly incompetent hotel staff. When I called ahead on the day of our arrival to request an early check-in the hotel rep. sternly informed me that I would have to pay a 120 Euro charge for the privilege! We are experienced travelers and never have we encountered such a demand. We took our chances regardless and decided to show up 2 hours early. Sure enough, our room was already ready and we were allowed to occupy it at no extra charge. Things really started to go south when a limousine that I had arranged for separate airport pickup of my daughter’s family through the concierge showed up at the airport unequipped with a baby car seat. I had expressly requested this when I booked the service. This was also specified in the booking confirmation sent by email to me by the concierge. The reaction I later got when I complained to the concierge was that I was not charged extra for the baby seat - as if this was the main issue! Furthermore, this was the first time that I was informed of such a charge, as no mention of this had been made in the email confirmation of the limo reservation which I originally received from the concierge. More importantly, what is more concerning is the utter indifference he showed for the safety of a guest’s infant grandchild. All that concerned him was the money angle to the failure. Things soon got worse. When we checked into our room we lifted the bed cover to discover several hairs and multiple red and yellow stains. Unbelievably, the chambermaid had neglected to change the bedsheets. This, in a 5 star hotel! After we called reception, staff was quickly sent to our room to change them. We never heard further from management about this. We later had dinner at Serre restaurant onsite and left the place hungry. The chef seems to focus on presentation and less on the reasonableness of the portions. My wife had a fish main course which was equivalent to 3 forkfuls. The minuscule dessert was pretty to look at but was grossly inadequate even for one person. The restaurant style is a throwback to the old Nouvelle Cuisine school. For the icing on the cake: a voucher for a round of drinks on the house at the rooftop bar that the guest services manager had kindly given me was bungled by the bar staff. When I arrived home I discovered a mysterious charge of 66 Euros by the Twenty-Third Floor Bar. The bar staff set new standards of incompetence in taking my voucher and charging me anyway.I had to call the hotel for credit but I am losing money anyway from the spread in exchange rates used by credit card companies. To be fair, the Superior View room was extremely spacious and comfortable with a magnificent view. The large pool and ample spa facilities were enjoyable and a significant convenience . Nel complesso l hotel ci è piaciuto molto. Siamo stati solo una notte.Esteticamente si presenta benissimo.Fuori sembra ordinario ma dentro è veramente una chicca. Tutto richiama molto l arte moderna. A noi ci è capitata una stanza al seminterrato ma comunque aveva una finestra alta che illuminava benissimo l interno. Stanza calda e confortevole. Le dimensioni erano piu che sufficienti. Hai a disposizione un bollitore e la macchinetta del caffè in camera e questo a noi piace sempre perché è un servizio che apprezziamo soprattutto dopo le lunghe passeggiate. L’unico difetto che non so dire se sia dovuto al fatto che eravamo al -1 è che a un certo punto della notte il bagno puzzava in maniera anche importante di fogna. La mattina poi svanisce gradualmente anche perché il giorno non abbiamo sentito nulla al nostro arrivo. La posizione non è proprio in centro anche se con una passeggiata di 30min a piedi ci arrivi altrimenti hai il tram che è veloce. Per noi è stato comunque un buon punto.

hello' my name is tamar, i was just now one week at flying pig hostel uptown, and i think this is the best hostel i have ever been in, and it is ran by young people who do an exellent job! hands down, they are super professional and helpful, and the place is so so so clean, i love it! the kitchen is great, the smoking room is cozy, do not think twice about this hostel, plus the location next to vondelpark is just stunning, can't wait to go back there when i will be back in amsterdam, perfect ten

First impressions not good. Guy on reception was very rude to us on check in and almost made my girlfriend cry. Tired from travelling and not knowing the exact thing to ask for at the desk when we checked in resulted in shocking service. The room however was very nice spacious and clean. Bed was big and clean but pillows left a lot to be desired. Shower was nice but no shampoo only soap. All linen was nice and clean. Location was amazing probably the best part of the hotel

Absolutely amazing experience. Cannot think of anything negative to say... The team is overall friendly, very flexible and accomodating. The location is 5/5! 1 bus away from the airport, 30 min WALK from city center ( you can also use the tram!), surrounded by bar/clubs, restaurants, coffeshops and even a supermarket 5 min walk away from the hostel. Also close to the Van gogh museum - less than 10 min walk. All of this made the whole trip much better. The check in was really smooth, our room was ready earlier so we were lucky to get in earlier. There are FREE lockers to leave your luggage before check in/ after check out. During the night, we can also use the common spaces ( at any time of the night) that was pretty amazing too! We were a big group, and we were somewhat in different schedules and moods, the hostel was accomodating for all. Those who stay up all night, and those who leave early in the morning.. even those who would need to nap during the day! The check out was also really smooth! We were a bit tired so we were also allowed to stay in the common spaces until it was time to leave to the airport. It's warm and cosy, nice ambiance. Even the background music in the common spaces was pretty awesome! 100% recomend and would stay there again!

You can't get closer to the museum quarter than this - cross one the road to the left and you'll find the biggest art galleries (Van Gogh, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk and Moc); across the road to the right is a spread of Cartier, Alexander McQueen, Chanel and more. This area is lovely and bright, lined with trees and busy bike lanes. In 15 minutes of walking, you'll reach canals, houseboats and canal cruises, cafes, restaurants, and a huge park. The hotel itself is exactly what you need for a city break. For a central city hotel, there's lots of room and a wealth of information. All around a fantastic experience. More details are below. The hotel staff are friendly, informative and tell you just what you need to know. The hotel lobby has discount cards for local attractions and museums and a generous breakfast spread in the morning. The room was spacious for such a central location, with a nice view from the high-up window. The room got pretty warm day and night, but the air con helped a little bit. If you go in summer, it would be worth bringing or buying a mini fan if you can.
